Civil rights activists were up in arms last week when the rule first passed. Many viewed the move as appointing the San Francisco Police Department judge, jury, and executioner. The SFPD explained it would only use the tactic when civilians' or officers' lives were at imminent risk, and it had exhausted other avenues of de-escalation.

So,the NEXT mass shooting,hostage situation gets to see police sit outside the door AGAIN trying to figure who gets shot at first instead of sending in the robot?

I find the whole argument that it makes Law Enforcement judge, jury, executioner kind of funny as the same situations they would send the robot in would be the same situations they have the authority to act in that capacity.  I obviously don't want them to have to fulfill that role but if it meant saving lives have at it.
