Nice! Didn't realise how much more powerful hardware has gotten for folding, was surprised how my 'ancient' 1080 TI felt buried haha.

Just the difference between the 3000 series nvidia and 4000 series is significant.  The 3090 will get 8-9mil ppd, I believe.  My 4090 averages around 27mil ppd!  That is a HUGE jump in a single generation.

Very accurate. My 3090 KPE was averaging 8.5 million PPD.

Damn, that's a lot of point at the end of this. @firedflyalone got over 3/4 of a billion points in just 4 days. It really shows how far things have come in the last 10 years. Back in 2013, you'd basically need a super computer to get that many in such a short amount of time. Now you can do that with a few off the shelf GPUs.

Also congrats to all of the prize winnter!

I thought about that myself, I was 'helping' on the F@H discord and it triggered some flashbacks of running 4-8 instances of SMP folding on windows xp. Just command prompt windows open and my parents wondering why my room was 90f

I am in shock how powerful the 4090 is in folding. A pair of 3090Tis and 4 Titan XPs couldn't outperform a single 4090. Lol.

See this is why I am content to see what the next series brings. Maybe by then I can join you guys folding. Just don't have a spot to run a rig continually right now. Not with these space heaters anyway. :lachen:

My 4090 OC'ed in Linux does very close to 30mil PPD and that's actual points, not just an estimate. In 4 days, I did 119m points, so..

Overclock has only got it at 2955MHz, yet I can clock the card to 3090MHz or higher in Windows. Unfortunately in Linux, X11 freezes up if I run it higher than 3000MHz.

Some numbers:

7500+ views on this thread.

7600+ Work Units completed in 4 days by 58 forum members, about half of them newcomers.

It took multiple brains to pull this event off.

I'd like to give a shout out to @Avacado for the idea, @axipher for without your score cards these things would not be possible, @ENTERPRISE for giving us plenty enough rope, @bonami2 for helping me advertise this thing, and @neurotix for without your banners we wouldn't have looked legitimate.

Thanks to W1zzard at TPU for graciously allowing me to advertise this, repeatedly bump the thread, and recruit your folders. You guys were great.

Thanks to @CoolGTX for giving me leeway at EVGA forum when I'm sure I looked like a nobody. I'm glad you and a couple of other members made it here.

Thanks to LTT, Guru3D, HWBOT, and F@H forums and discords for allowing my spam. Again I'm happy some of you made it here to join in the fun.

Thanks to EXTREMEHW forum for putting up with me as folding team lead when I'm still so green (only 2 years folding). Thanks to @BWG for mentoring me and eventually passing me the torch. @zodac you also taught me so much in a short amount of time. @firedfly I continuously rely in your knowledge.

Thanks to our sponsors for being so generous. I worked specifically with EVGA Jacob for this and he is just a cool dude.

Thanks @mmcdonald12 for not minding me running up our power bill to do this. You're always supportive of my hobbies 🥰

-Luke
