ETA is now 21 hours 32 minutes, aka in ~19 hours the ETA dropped ~9 hours :sad-smile:

wish folding.lar.systems had more complete data, curious how much faster a 7900/7950X or 13900K would be on the same WU.

What's the ppd on your 3080ti?  From my (limited) testing, the drop in ppd on a high end GPU was more than a CPU would make.  So, folding on GPU+CPU was less ppd than just GPU.

haven't really been keeping that close of an eye on it but ~5-5.5M for the most part?

but half the time I'm limiting it to ~750mv and when I'm not in the room (aka getting cooked) I'm letting it run at 1.0v. it's lower than lar.systems says but I assumed that was from limiting the voltage.

If you want to spend any time trying to optimize those 3080ti's for the best PPD, let me know.  I think we could bump those up a bit.  @Cerberusis currently running my 3080ti's and reported earlier today that they are between 6.5-8.5mil ppd depending on the WU.  I think he's running them in Linux.

By comparison, my 3080 12gb in windows is doing ~7.5mil ppd pretty consistently.

Also verify your quick return bonus here:

APPS.FOLDINGATHOME.ORG

You need at least 80% completion rate to get the points bonus and it's substantial.

Glad you could join our family. Since you like it here, you may want to check out our HWBOT team, which also punches way above our weight.

We also have smaller monthly folding challenges (48 hours until end of fall).

And if you really feeling it, we have EXTREME TEAM folding (ETF league) where you are on a team, and each of you folds with 1 piece of hardware 24/7 with a handicap bonus based on the LARS data.

Thanks again for having me!

This might be a somewhat stupid question, but what exactly is HWBOT? 😅 I never heard of it before and just had a quick look at their website, however I didn't really the point 🙈 Care to elaborate?

I'll gladly partake in at least some of those 🙂

ETF sounds really fun, however I'd need to source some dedicated folding hardware first. Currently I'm folding on SO's and mine gaming rigs, so nothing I could spare 24/7 unfortunately.

However, I'd love a DM with further information for future reference!

In my experience that depends on the specific combination:

SO's rig (10400F + 3070) for example has had quite the drop in PPD, so that 3070 is folding by itself with a light OC, netting about 5-5.5M PPD - depending on the project ofc - using 190 W on average since the start of this fold-a-thon.

My rig on the other hand - using a 13700KF with E-Cores disabled, P-Cores at 5.6 GHz, folding on 13/16 threads - in combination with a 4080, is actually profiting from CPU folding. GPU's making about 10.5-17.5M PPD (using 215 W on average since competition start), the CPU is contributing another 500-600K PPD while dropping the GPU's PPD by only about 100K. So it's still a net increase of about 500K PPD on average. That being said, the CPU alone is chugging back about 185 W avg, so it really isn't worth it efficiency-wise. Might be able to lower voltages somewhat, but I wasn't able to get it stable in time, so it is what it is I suppose. 😄

I let it run a bit longer and am seeing ~7.5mil (10900K @ 5.1 and 3080 Ti @ 2025) but I'm already melting. I've got ~13 hours left on this CPU WU and maybe I'll pause CPU folding and see what it does for GPU PPD.

way back when it used to make sense to fold in a Linux VM within Windows for a PDD boost, maybe I should have done that from the get-go? 🤔

Additionally, I have made a signature banner for people to use for the duration of the folding competition. However, you must be Premium Gold to use it. Unfortunately, regular members banners are too small (250x60 or something like that) for me to make one. Enjoy.

The guy has a talent and he loves doing it. Be careful, you'll open up the flood gates of his brain. Check out all the images he made in his portfolio linked in his signature.

He recently did my signature banner based on an image I send him of my folding rig. I love it.

Premium Platinum - Lifetime

I'm glad you're happy with it bro. It's been a very long day for me, we rebuilt ny wifes rig so now she has my old 5900x, C8H and B-Die at 3733MHz. Before, she had a Kaby Lake i5 and DDR4-3000. So I'm tired and not going to change the banner, sorry.

And thanks for the comments damric. Really made me feel like I'm making people happy and that's great. Gonna be horizontal on a heating pad for the rest of the night watching stuff.

  • Thanks 1
  • Respect 2

Edit: NVM I just looked at the score card. You're points are starting to show. It just updates slow. You're good.
