  • UltraMega changed the title to Cyberpunk Path Tracing update Released

kinda playable on a 7900XT with FSR2.1 set to ultra performance mode, anything beyond that and it's a slide show. Didn't expect good performance, but it's worse than I thought it would be. Was hoping to get at least close to 30FPS with FSR performance mode. I wonder if the RTX3000 cards will do any better.

Does look cool though. When you turn PT on, most of the other graphics settings become irrelevant. Ambient occlusion, shadow quality settings, none of that matters with PT on.

It's disappointing that there is no quality settings at all for PT though, it's just on or off... which makes me think this is really just intended to serve as an Nvidia marketing ploy more than anything else. No surprise there though.

What native resolution were you attempting?

Now you've got me curious if my 6900XT can handle it with FSR.  I was able to play with RT on prior using FSR.  Hmmmm.....

I was at 4k, with FSR set to ultra performance mode which I think is 720p render resolution.

Meanwhile can"t run wow at 7680x3200 at more than 45 fps on my 6800xt. 🤣 I want sharp edge.

Is the new update can give playable fps on my 6800xt?  I mean do it look better than before even with lower setting?

I need to try it.

The res is too low to look good on my 7900XT. Probably no need to even try it on a 6800XT.

I haven't had the opportunity to try it yet, hopefully I will be able to later today.

My 4080 manages 100+ FPS on average at 1440p / RT Ultra with DLSS FG enabled, I'm really curious to see how it does with PT.

I'm intrigued, does that mean that there's a few more FPS to be had by disabling those settings when running PT or does enabling PT force those on/off?

Since CDPR themselves are insisting on it being nothing more than a "technology preview", I'd say that's as fair an implementation on their part as it's a fair assumption on yours.

You know I have had this game for like a year and still have never launched it. One of these days I will check it out and see how the 3080 Ti fares with it. I'm starting to get worried about this 12GB frame buffer.

Having played it myself, I don't think you're missing much as far as the gameplay itself goes. It does a lot of different things, but none of them very well.

It's what I would imagine a game made by FutureMark to be like. It's OK, but the main reason to check it out is definitely the visuals.

Lots of different endings to the game. In the ending I got, my character committed suicide.

This video includes details on a mod that reduces the bounce lightning from 2 bounces to 1 for a significant performance boost and minimal visual difference.

The fact that a mod for this came out so quickly shows the PT update is definitely intended as Nvidia marketing above all else. This option should have been in the game and there's no excuse for not including it. Even Portal RTX has the option to reduce bounces.
