Looked fairly clean with the cooler on. I decided to repaste it last night and underneath it sure had a lot of dust gunk.

Still need to re-set up my old PC to act as the test bench - i.e. Install a new drive and install W10 on it. Then I guess I need to figure out the driver situation.

I don't know if I can wring any more performance out of the Heaven Basic DX9 benchmark:

HWBOT.ORG

The Radeon HD 6850 @ 1050/1250MHzscores getScoreFormatted in the Unigine Heaven - Basic benchmark. Lukeranks #null worldwide and #12 in the hardware class. Find out more at HWBOT.

Even 2MHz more on GPU core or VRAM crashes it. There isn't much 3D settings to tweak in the driver from what I saw. I just set texture filtering to performance and surface optimization ON.

I used the latest compatible legacy driver and the version of afterburner I already had installed. Voltage was pushed to 1.3v and extended unofficial clocks.

I ran the bench about 5 times and saw a lot of score fluctuation as much as like 20 points so I don't know maybe I'll run a few more times. One thing I may try is running from a RAM disk.

Yes, you need the official WP. See below

Not that very much of the wallpaper will be showing with all the telemetry screenshots required and these cards seem to max out at 1080p on hdmi so it's very crowded 🤣

Well I'm in 2nd place with just software voltage tweaking.

ESPORTS.HWBOT.ORG

Check out the content at esports.hwbot.org

The guy in 1st, I think I saw his hard volt mod in a youtube video. I no longer have the patience of steady hands for that but I'll bet that some of you will and I hope you all blow me out of the water before this is over.

While HWBOT forbids sharing hardware, it is possible to sell or give someone something, so this reference card with accellero is up for grabs when I am done with it.

I saw that, great work so far!  Don't worry, I'm sure @Avacado and @Bastiaan_NL will be around soon enough to blow you out of the water.  My card will just be on software / stock cooler, but hey....points are points!  :wheee:

Alright I'm done what I can do other than trying a RAM disk.

Unigine: I eeked out just a couple more points by disabling SMT and just running the bench over and over. It's very single threaded but it still mostly maxes out the card. Lots of variation between runs so I suggest to run it at least 10x or more. I think a RAM disk might help with the small hiccup it has when it starts.

Firestrike: This wasn't hard. The main thing is be sure to carefully read the HWBOT rules for this benchmark and use them to your advantage. If you are still at a loss, PM me and I will show you what to do.

Vantage: Same as Firestrike but even less stuff to tweak. Pretty redundant but it is freeware so I see why they included this one.

I would let @Avacado and/or @Bastiaan_NL double check your subs and screenshots. These contests always come down to litigation!!!

Thanks for the tips. I'm just going to be running this on my old 4790k system as I don't have a test bench at the moment or any other modern platforms that aren't locked down under hard tubing in a daily rig right now. 😂

Good advice. I followed the rules, but some of my subs disappeared in the last competition I participated in (and after it ended) and that was disappointing.

lol me too and I've been doing hwbot for over a decade. It really helps to have a couple more sets of eyes look at your subs for these comps. Today I had to redo a few of them because something small was missing.

I have flashed many nvidia vbios's, but never ATI. I know that atiflash is a thing, but havent used it. I would use GPUz to save a copy of your current and search tpu for a comparitive one for your card and try it. Hopefully you dont mind bricking your card as its always possible.

@kaliz look at the GPU-z in this review

Unless you really do have your ear to the ground, you may be unaware as…

It shows as 6850 x2. It's just factory programmed to be misnomer. I would just bench it as is.
