Nice, looks like it can pump out some points for sure. Yeah the work units have slowed a little, hopefully we will get another batch come through soon.

So I've got the pair of 5700xt's folding.

An extra heater in the room ?

Decided to let them run for 239902 right away ?

Nice, so you got the rig sorted then ? What was the problem ?

Yes, it's working alright now.

A little report:

at first it wasn't going into bios but requested me to select a proper boot device. Pressing a key resulted in a boot loop.

Adding a usb drive would have the same result, so I started pulling hardware and changing things.

Took out a GPU but no change, removed the m.2 ssd after switching the gpu's around a few times (because I thought that was causing the loop) and added an old sata ssd with windows 7.

That worked, but after rebooting once it was going into the boot loop again.

So I installed the m.2 ssd again, and it booted without a problem...

I installed windows 10 and the drivers I needed, but couldn't get the internet bridge between 2 computers running (I didn't have a second 10 meter cable).

After trying for a few hours I gave up and ordered a new cable, that'll be here tomorrow, and stole one from my brothers house today :p

Still some things to sort, like the gpu speed.

I don't like the variable clock speed, it's jumping up and down in a 250mhz range.

Sounds like another PC in the world that needed some random piece of hardware pulled and put back in for it to wake up and smell the coffee lol. Oh ICS can be a PITA sometimes for no real reason. Most of the time I have used it, it has worked just fine. Other times...just no lol. Glad you got it sorted and you have your new cable coming soon.

I have the feeling the PPD could be up a lot if it's just fixed at the max clock.

Will take a look around and see if anyone has a fix for it.

Fixed clock for virtually any application gives you a better result, Folding will be the same, so if you can adjust the speed/voltage curve so it remains at a fixed speed and voltage, then you are good. Just watch those temps.

For the badges when they do get implimented, what making them start for 10M points, 20M points, 50M points, 100M points, etc.? Those seem like reasonable goals these days and it won't make our profiles look like this after a week

unknown.png

It has taken me around a month to get to over 10M points with my RTX 2070 though.

Haha !

Yeah the award system when its developed will be a much more realistic approach than before as it is very easy to get those numbers unlike before. I remember when 10M was like a good year + in the making. The award system will more than likely come after the Folding Stats Service :)

I might have to wait for newer drivers, maybe that'll fix is somewhat.

Ye, I'm going to be doing a couple units with no overclock and then with a memory overclock and then a core overclock and then both overclocked and see wut does what. then i'll mess with affinity setting. i'll be collecting everything in HFM.NET. should be a fun next couple days. DATA!

EDIT: Is the normal thing to just use

client-type beta

max-packet-size big

next-unit-percentage 100 (or 99)?

any other tweaks for the settings?

Well that's interesting, now my daily use desktop/gaming rig is getting units perfectly fine, but neither my sim rig nor my 24/7 folding are getting units at the moment. Maybe I spoke too soon.

It's been about the same for me. I'm getting 5-6 WUs a day giving me an actual PPD of around 450K-540K whereas the estimate when I actually have a WU is 1.2-1.3M.
