...so first the lenovo W530 workstation that I bought back around ~2011 or so died a couple of months back. trusty platform that traveled many thousands of miles with me and earned me mucho dolares over the years.

 

then, my el cheapo mass-drop sennheiser's gaming headset's mike died. thought what to do, what to do. so I got busy rearranging stuff i had on hand, did some configuring, and am now back up to speed (no mean feat given the Sound Devices usbpre 2 mike preamp I had on hand, coupled with its lack of drivers for anything beyond win 7). 

 

oh, and swapped in my focal clear pro for the sennheiser. gonna play some steam deck now.
