Agreed. Till proven otherwise, products like X1, XT-1, Blitz kit are all proven. It's the XTR I am going to stay away from, hence the colored tubing.

If you can get existing stock of course but new owner apparently discontinued lot of the existing lineup with no replacement in sight. They stopped making the clear versions as example. 

 

Just an general concern that quality control will go downhill too with these new owners. I do see the original owner/creator leaving at somepoint when things aren’t going smooth (and they have cashed out).

I do wonder about quality going forward, but got a source regarding discontinuations? First I am hearing of that.

OCN Mayhem Thread. Also go browse the mayhem uk store and you can see products no longer there. Notice there's no more white concentrate options anymore.

That thread hasn't been active for at least a couple months. Last I remember was Mick talking about XTR issues and then mentioning how his role will be training people up.

 

I haven't seen anything "official" in terms of discontinuations.

 

EDIT: I also see X1 Clear and XT-1 Clear on their site looking right now.

Ah, see your edit now. Well guess we will see. Hard to say for certain unless there's been an official announcement, but I definitely agree that will have to see how Mayhems is going forward under new ownership. Like if X1 clear users start seeing Cryofuel clear gunk, well then...

 

Being in the US, will probably opt for some ModmyMods Mod Water in clear when I restart this build.

Well getting ready to get in the rest of my parts needed to finish my new build. I stopped at a couple stores this week and no one has distilled water. Anyone one else seeing a lack of distilled water in their areas?

So far so good up here on Canada's Pacific Coast - never mind the current atmospheric rivers hitting us. Both distilled and deionized water (the latter is my preference for 'puters though both will work) available also at auto-parts stores. 

 

Just one chain store here, as of today,

What's the biggest difference between the two?

 

To clarify, I a just looking for distilled water for flushing, my Blitz kit, general loop prep. I am using ModWater clear for the coolant.

I think its possible that J7 and I both buy a "concentrate" coolant and dilute it with deionized water.  There are multiple grades of deionized.  Real deionized water should have far fewer ions (the charge carriers in a water based solution) than distilled water.  High grade deionized water will have a pH of almost exactly 7, and a specified ion concentration maximum.  Likely overkill, but per Bastion, that word doesn't exist in this realm .

 

An example:  MAXTITE Type II Deionized Water - Laboratory Grade (4 Gallons): Amazon.com: Industrial & Scientific

For cleaning / flushing, both are ok. I use the purest deionized water to add to my 'specialty pc cooling liquids'...typically, over 90% is distilled and/or deionized water-based anyway.

OK, that makes a lot of sense. Thanks. Yeah I have 3 bottles of pre-mix. I am not sure if ModMyMods even makes a concentrate for ModWater? Mayhems clear was hard to find in stock anywhere.

Moving goal post to De-ionized water already?  Isn't distilled water flushed and refilled annually or bi-annually enough? These are $1.50/gal here.

...once you have all your super-clean ingredients, a couple of other things and tips for your loop assembly...

 

1.) if you're building a loop with multiple components (such as several rads, pumps, blocks), I pre-fill each component separately, including the tubing, with liquids before closing the adjacent parts of the loop. This makes even more sense when you have 1200++ 60 ++ loop components re. subsequent air-bubble chasing and bleeding.

 

2.) especially with 1.) but even w/o it, I am very mindful of touching certain parts such as fittings with my hands, or even breathing on it. No sense having all the clean / distilled / deionized products for a loop, then messing things up by breathing on an open loop, or checking fittings with your bare hands after you visited the fridge for an extra slice of cheddar and Calabrese pizza speaking from experience

I wear gloves now and hold my breath as much as possible, after seeing my last loop turn brown.  Also use a leak tester to move water into place, rather than blowing on tubing.

Yeah if I was full time using a filter, I'd get something similar to this. I only used the fuel filter during Blitz Part 2 and subsequent distilled water flushing runs.

Just wanted to join in this thread.  This is my 12900KS PC with only 1 loop installed right now as Im waiting for EK to release the FCWB for my eVGA FTW3 3090Ti GPU.  It to will have its own loop.  All Loops have 1 420mm x 60mm EK RAD and a 240mm x 45mm EK rad, Dual D5's in EK dual D5 pump housing.  So in total, 4 rads, 4 D5's and a metric ton of 140mm/120mm fans!

Is there a limit of how many 4-pin PWM fan extender cables I can use? I need about a 4 foot run to get to the window. I have been wanting to mount a big ass radiator in the window for some time. In January and February it can intake cool air from outside. For the rest of the year it's like summer year so it will be exhausting.
