  1. I was not happy with the temperature spikes on my 3950x, so I decided to check the flatness and give it a good polish on a lapping stone at work. Here is the first run with 180 grit, pretty clear that it hits the wrong area first. I kept going with 180 until there was only copper showing and stepped it up a few hundred grit at a time, finishing with 2500. The system has been running p95 small fft's for an hour now, not exceeding 20°C over ambient maxing out at 57°C on the full loop (420 and 280 x 45 rads, still waiting on a HK block for the 3090). I've not seen any of the temp spikes, but I'm sure that's not fixed but only a bit lower than it used to be. 180p first run: 180p second run: Finished product, 2500p I never noticed your reply, but thanks! I love that build, way more than my main system. Not going to jinx myself but I can't complain about the z170/7700k
  2. Yeah, best case it'll see over 5 mil on some of the units. I mean, average on the 3090 is 6.4 mil but I've seen well over 9 million PPD on some of the units. But for a 24/7 usage an average around 4 mil PPD would be good. If only I was living in the USA...
  3. That's about 2 mil over a 3070? I don't think they'll hit that, but close to 4 mil would be perfect.
  4. I was a bit late, had a meeting at work. Gave it a try anyways, maybe I can help out someone else who needs it. Like you said, you can always sell it. I'd like to get one or two 3070ti's though, hoping they do a decent job folding.
  5. Though I'm not a captain, I think this is pretty fair. I'm sure running 7 days at stock clocks and no beta flag is a better baseline than the LARS database. I like the way that system looks/works, reminds me of all the crazy stuff I used to do for a few suicide runs The 2080ti system runs pretty good, maxed out at 22.5°C over ambient which was 30°C today. Still holding 2055mhz and over 5.7mil ppd on the 13448 units, can't complain about that. That unit runs a little low on power consumption though, so with a unit that manages to pull 330w it'll run a bit warmer (though I will cap the power at that point).
  6. I was a bit confused, "what are you listening right now" and "ban the above user" in the "post your last purchase" topic Someone had some really deep pockets! At least the dealer won't bug you about that car anymore.. Are you sure those tables are strong enough?
  7. Nice, I always like checking out everyone's hardware Multi GPU/PSU would be nice and maybe fan size/brand/model.
  8. So many boxes, Christmas every day 3 full wc builds will be very heavy... You might have to get an engine hoist to move it!
  9. Looks really cool! @BWG How are the temps with that rad? (360x45?)
  10. Hey, that's not cool... I timed it perfectly!
  11. I'm starting to really like aluminium frame chassis! You can do whatever you want with them, and have all the airflow
  12. Sadly they were not the best chicken nuggets I had, but if you are hungry... Anyways, it sucks if you need to pickup your breakfast from the local Purolator depot. But it beats waiting a few more days before they finally deliver it! Oh, and I had some rice with chicken veggies and peppers again. Had to eat on the side of the road as I had to go to a ship that broke down.. This was the food: And this was the view:
  13. Thanks a lot for the information! I will keep this in mind if I ever need to do some shimming myself Like you said the shim changes how much space you fill with a pad/puddy, but will it also increase the heat dissipation because of the high thermal conductivity of copper? I understand it's limited by the puddy/pad and paste tim used, but having to go through less of the 'higher' resistance stuff would mean it will cool a little better if I'm correct. Haha, hence the 'rolleyes' But I've seen it in person, the transformation from brown to white leather and it's always a lot darker than you think it is. If they are not done yet you should ask them to take a picture with half of a seat cleaned! That dealer gave it a try, but I'm sure that XB7 is an expensive beast! I really love the Alpina's but it's a bit above my budget...
  14. The retired zodac did pretty good, 6 units 50million points each..
  15. They did a great job cleaning the leather, looks brand new @iamjanco How do you "install" those copper shims?
  16. GG Firedfly, 53 million in a day... And nice work everyone, almost 190 million points in 2 days! A lot of teams are looking over their shoulders now
  17. Look at what Martin Turner said here: https://www.quora.com/How-is-it-obvious-that-1-000-is-one-and-1-000-is-one-thousand Kinda funny, we use the . for every thousand and the , for decimals
  18. Could be that both the units failed, might want to check the logs!
  19. Thanks! Looks like they could use a little more fan speed, they are running pretty hot.. But besides that, the clocks are not high at all. That shows the benefit from Linux over Windows! Lmao, what was that?!
  20. @firedfly That explains a lot! The PPD difference can be from Linux, I'm pretty sure the 13448 unit benefits from the OS as it only runs at 85% on Windows.. I like information, so if it's not too much work for you I'd appreciate it! You might have to wait a little longer to grab a 3080 from the miners, I might have to do the same @BWG 31°C is the probe on your keyboard? That's reason enough to slow down for a bit.. It is a bit better in my room, but warm enough for me to fall asleep in my chair right after dinner at 7pm...
  21. Dammit, my mom is playing WoW again... I misunderstood that line too, I thought @BWG had some tricks up his sleeve. But it's a nice surprise to see a new face doing this good, if only I would have known... Impressive! There is no way I could beat that... Do you have more info about your 30xx cards? Like model, clocks/power, waterblocks etc?
  22. 24 million PPD is enough to take me down for this comp, and I'm shutting down one 3090 for the day (getting a bit too hot in there). 30 million is possible, but not easy.
