...AMD was more fun when they were the underdog in CPU land. After various Intel HEDT CPUs I had, the Threadripper 2950X / MSI Creation was my first AMD CPU (on my first MSI mobo) and it was great...actually still is - I use it as a secondary machine now. The MIA of Intel in the HEDT market after the 10980XE until very recently changed AMD's hunger and motivation; the rest of it was taken up by the undeniable presence of the 16c/32t AMDs in the desktop / workstation hybrid space. ...I wonder where AMD will end up pricing the two new TR versions - perhaps at / or a tad below the new competing Sapphire Rapids models

...about time ! I wonder if the current TR water-blocks can be reused for the -Pro line (ie. standoff spacing) ? Hopefully, the -Pro line can also be oc'ed, at least via PBO and CO...

...the money part doesn't surprise me, but I am skeptical about FS2020 drag and drop into FS2024 "should work without issues"...

...good point on the currency item. As to the story about the drone, it is linked on the front page of the BBC. It is still all early days, but one of the goals is to have a 'drone swarm' controlled either from the ground, or a military plane, and the AI is supposed to eventually take over the swarm control, but obviously, it first has to be trained by an operator/s. One issue is what happens when there are disruptions in communications and/or visual references - 'return to base' ?

That's an interesting solution for laptops...PCWorld did > an intro on this about four months ago and the firm now seem to have added extra models. Sadly, I don't think that - for now at least - Frore solid state cooling can do anything for 600+W 4090s...

...I was just watching a RedGamingTech vid which also showed that 'thick boy'. FYI, RTX 50 series / Blackwell is expected to hit later in 2024, so in a few months (early fall of 2023 ?), we might see some of the 4090 Ti and/or Titan Ada. I'll probably stick with my w-cooled RTX 4090 until the RTX 50xx Blacxkwell comes out. BTW, if the Titan Ada comes to market and does have 48 GB of DDR6X, pricing is going to be a huge conundrum for NVidia, given the current workstation RTX 6000 Ada and its pricing. Anyhow, for the safety of all involved, I do hope that the 'thick boy' cards all come with 2x 12VHPWR connectors.

Ai is already here and has been for some time. The latest crop of hardware though has started to expand the feasibility for more companies in the general economy. The real danger with so-called generative AI is the potential for abuse, in particular when combined with social media, meta-tagged search engine data and cloud storage. There are other problems re. copyright issues and so forth, and several major court cases are currently setting some precedents. All this does not mean that the stock-market won't overblow everything, than do the same in the opposite direction. The current hype is a bit like the old 'dot-com' bubble from 23 years ago; it bloated then crashed, but ecommerce stayed and buried itself deeper into everything in our life.

IMO, the biggest problem the 6800/6900XTs have at 4K and greater is their narrow memory bus. InfinityCache helps a lot at lower resolutions, but 4K and up is just too much for a 256 bit bus

FYI, the newer die AD 102-301 variant has a slightly lower max voltage at 1.07V than the AD 1-2-300 at 1.10V. That has folks wondering... You're right about the 'Asus tax', and it is no coincidence that they announced this model right before Computex. Lower temps via liquid metal will help a bit, but I prefer custom cooling and use 1320x63 mm & 22 x 120mm fans for my loop with the 4090. Cooling helps at sustained speeds of > 3.2 GHz but the real issue remains voltage limitation. Pricing in this softer market for the new Matrix will be really interesting; initial + $200 over the Strix OC ??

I seem to have fewer driver problems with my 6900XT (left in pic below) than you, perhaps because I tend to run older 'proven by moi' drivers - but clearly, the 4090 (right in pic below) is a far better match for 4K/8K resolutions. FYI, both GPUs are connected to the OLED...

I really like the looks of the Matrix, but underneath just seems to be a Strix OC (worst things could happen). FYI, DerBauer mentioned before on YT that he was working with Asus on a liquid metal solution. That said, 4090s biggest challenge is voltage limitation, not temps (I water-cool everything anyways). While Asus talks about 'highest boost clocks' in their media release and on their web site, so far they actually have not published any clocks, even under 'technical features'... I also wonder whether the Matrix has the original AD 102-300 (1.1V max) or the more recent AD 102-301 (1.07V max) core NVidia quietly introduced. A fial point re. the Matrix is that it only has one 12VHPWR connector, unlike the Galax HoF which has two 12VHPWR...a lot of things have to go right with a single 12VHPWR connector juicing 600 W or more; two 12VHPWR connectors would be a better option for the Matrix to underscore its top of the line claim... Speaking of 12VHPWR connectors, get a load of this...
