  1. ...if x86 (and with it games/sims/entertainment) can somehow be more than approximated, the expected 'convergence' with RISC and x86 would be truly underway....don't have a source handy, but I read somewhere that Intel and AMD are working on mCPUs with 'differential' tiles to accomplish this. Hope springs eternal...
  2. ...yeah, AMD seems to handle the communication abut this well. FYI, apparently, Phoronix is planning a performance impact analysis of certain bits in the affected predictive branches being turned off, or at least 'nerfed'...
  3. ...long Easter weekend allows for extended flying...from Russia with a slow amphibious plane to exceeding speed safety limits flying low in a valley in the Himalayas ?
  4. ...I'm sitting back for a bit ? and see if there will be updates on the updates on the mobo bios and v-bios for the r_BAR. I don't really like updating bios unless I have to, especially as I just spent a month chasing down rabbit holes for fine tuning hyperfast RAM settings ?
  5. Very noice ! ...and with all this firepower, you might want to rename your build "Projectile T3sla"
  6. ...with my latest purchase, I never get to sit for long periods ?
  7. ...I was talking about cleaning the whole place around here, for economies of scale ? ...anyway, international travel is probably not such a good idea right now, what with quarantine requirements, travel bans etc. ...for the record, I have a Datavac but for the tight nooks and crannies (ie. the bit on a w-cooled GPU between the PCB/VRM and the acrylic part of the block) I prefer the 'air in a bottle', compared to Q-tips etc.
  8. ...I'm going to have to invite you guys to do all the cleaning around here ...I'll supervise ?
  9. Datavac can't get into some of the nooks and crannies, at least not w/o complete disassembly (I rather not; dust is not that bad). Anyhow, general Datavac round as 'final' after all the major nooks and crannies stuff is done ?
  10. The Asus Pro Series TRX80 for Threadripper Pro is out now and in stock in a place in Canada...surprisingly 'affordable' (for what it is) prices below are in CAN $....within the general range of the TR Zenith Alpha II, plus minus...TR Pro CPUs are now ins stock in some places as well... We have been looking at TR Pro at work, but the premium over the regular TRs only makes sense in certain narrowly defined workstation apps. Dr. Ian Cutress / Anandtech did a thorough test review of the TR Pro <> TR last month (below). One of the major problems I see right now is that Zen-3 based TRs are not to far off, with Epyc 8-channel based on Zen-3 already launched now...can an updated TR Pro be far behind ? source
  11. ...integrating new systems into the existing home-office setup & updating several existing machines with new Artic P12 pwms - for that, purchased 'essential equipment', such as dust remover for electronics and another set of Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut...
  12. banned coz...the last time I tried to assist with s.th. like that didn't go so well...
  13. ...had a few moments to get back to Cyberpunk 2077...I like jumping off that bridge (center of pic, 4K RTX Psycho)...one of these days, I'll even figure out a way back from the river's edge w/o reloading the saved game scene ?
  14. banned coz...I certainly would not call that docking or anchoring, either...also banned for bringing a toy digger to a man's job
  15. ...and at least if your reside in Europe, that Suez canal blockage by that giant Evergreen container ship may soon add to 'shortage' prices...hope not though as things are bad enough already re. pricing and availability ?
