...not a RAM magician, but I select my components carefully after doing this for decades for work and play - I wanted an 8-layer PCB (or better) 670E mobo with 'eclk' and great VRM cooling, and the 670E Aorus Master offered all of that, was available locally and had the least outrageous price. I still have far more Intel systems than AMD and look forward to see the best of each as the market evolves. ...started to check out different bios and Agesa (1.0.0.7c to 1.1.0.0). Before I switched, I gave the 1.0.0.7c / F13 a 'full steam ahead' to set a mark the new bios and Agesa have to meet and/or surpass

...as posted before, there is a certain irony that on four gens of Ryzen 16-core CPUs, I only ever used Intel-XMP sticks (dual and quad channel) w/o any problems on higher end AMD boards.

Yeah, OCCT's Linpack. I use 'physical only' setting and 29736 MB (out of 48 GB total). FYI, lowering CO values by about 4 from Hydra's CB 23 tested recommendations was the safe bet on my setup for even the hardest / most stressing tests.

On a few cores, up to -44. CCD 0 on my 7950X3D has more CO headroom than CCD 1. Use the SMU software highlighted by @kaliz for in-Windows CO testing against CB23, Linpack and co

Greetings fellow bios luddite ! I downloaded the 1.1.0.0 bios for my 670E Aorus Master the day it came out, but I am still on F13C and my 5950 / ROG Dark Hero is still on 3801

In addition to HWInfo, Zen Timings shows what looks like real-time and fairly accurate SOC_V, keeping in mind that SOC also has its own LLC in bios (VRM Options). Gigabyte bios should allow for up to 1.3 V set SOC_V but I keep mine at ~ 1.25 V max, and medium LLCs.

...I still have more Intel systems than the four AMD and sometimes, both vendors' products can frustrate, usually down to a voltage and/or USB issue. In my overall experience, AMD is quite good - for my AMD Ryzen CPUs, I use mobos from MSI, Asus ROG and Gigabyte/Aorus. My current 'gamer' is the Aorus X670E Master (8 layer PCB) w/7950X3D and a GSkill 2x 24GB 7200 Intel XMP kit which I have tried out in five different permutations per below (always the same SOC_V and VDD)...CL 28 / 6000 to CL 36 / 8100. Only a few of these are truly optimized (ie. 8000) but the sheer number of combinations I put through basic stability test speaks for this AMD platform. I am also thrilled with the efficiency of AM4 and especially AM5...close to 39K in CineR23 at < 160W ! Intel's Raptor Lake top end uses almost twice the peak Watts with a score in the same ballpark. I look forward to some truly new and innovative and efficient products when they arrive from Intel post LGA1700; for now though I am happy (and problem-free) with AMD...

My two MSI (Threadripper) boards that have not given me any issues, either - neither has the ROG X570 (below right) or Aorus 670E (below left, complete with Intel NIC). Heck, I even put two different mobo brands in one case . Typically, I opt for the lower / middle offering of the top-tier segment with mobos...the X670E Aorus Master for example shares the 8-layer PCB with the 670E Aorus Xtreme which helps greatly with DDR5 overclocking. As already posted before, none of my four 16C / 32 T AMD procs over four different gens and using three different mobo vendors has given me any trouble, even with hefty oc settings for each. Using good RAM (GSkill Intel-XMP spec) also helps, IMO. Update: all 4 gens of AMD Ryzen 16C/32T, all oc'ed and problem-free

@Hurricane28 ...how many USB connections are you using on your board ? Along with LAN and certain AMD GPU drivers, a full / near-full house of USB has created the freeze-up for a lot of AMD users (mostly pervious gen, though). If you have a few USB you don't always need (ie. printer), I would see if reducing the number of USB would help in any way. In general, every once in a while one gets a system that makes no 'rhyme or reason' re. hangs, crashes and freeze-ups. I had an Intel 5960X (8C/16T HEDT) on an Asus ROG which I named 'nemesis' - it would do the freeze-up once or twice a month no matter what OC setting; I finally donated that board, CPU and Corsair Platinum DDR4...

I know some folks have experienced and reported on these select lock-up issues, but so far, none of my four AMD Ryzen CPUs have caused me such issues (TR2950X; 3950X; 5950X; 7950X3D). I wonder if it is some sort of combination of mobo, RAM and other bits. Mobos in use for my Ryzen CPUs are MSI, 2x Asus and Aorus. GSkill TridentZ RAM on all my Ryzens BUT all GSkill kits I use are Intel-XMP editions, not AMD EXPO etc.

@Hurricane28 ...Gigabyte released a new bios today w/AGESA 1.1.0.0 for the Aorus 670E Master; it is likely that they updated the bios of other mobos as well.

I am actually quite happy with F13C on my Giga/Aorus board, but in general Gigabyte 'support' is spotty...
