  1. Whoops I had it backwards. Wasn't sure if the bills are to protect the right to repair or if they're bills aimed at blocking people's right to repair but now I see they're pro repair bills. I'm definitely pro repair.
  2. 18 Years Later, the Halo PC Port Is Getting Visual Fixes - IGN Any excuse to play Halo 1 again is a good thing in my book. Best one of the series IMO. This is long over-due. A bit of back story, the original PC port of halo from back in the day was made by Gearbox which did a lot of PC ports for other studios back then. There were a few graphical effects that didn't make it from the xbox version to the PC version. The MMC version of Halo 1 is based on the Gearbox port and thus those effects are still missing. This video goes over the differences:

  4. It's my understanding that RGB is basically built into most motherboards now and there are two type, first and second gen. Gen 1 is 4 pin, gen 2 is 3 pin with a gap. All other types are considered defunct now. Both of my B550 systems have gen 1 and 2 ports. There's also a lot of RGB strips now that are just for general decoration and not for computers and it's hard to separate them when looking for computer rgb strips. I'm not web coder, but if you need some help with anything on a more basic level, I've got nothing but time and I'd be happy to help if I can.
  5. Tiny extremophile animals that are able to survive exposure to outer space. I suspect they did this to study the idea of panspermia, which is the concept of one planet with life on it spreading life to another planet.

  7. https://www.guru3d.com/news-story/alleged-specifications-of-amd-am5-emerge-slightly-bigger-than-intels-counterpart-and-ddr5.html Was hoping am4 would get at least one more cpu upgrade but seems unlikely now.
  8. https://www.techspot.com/news/89780-netflix-hiring-seasoned-executive-expansion-video-games.html Interesting that the article says they want to emulate Apple arcade. I've never seen a company set out to fail before ?. I think what they really mean is Netflix wants to emulate game pass, which is basically the Netflix of gaming.
  9. I have two B550 systems and neither board was over $100. I don't see much point in spending that much on B550. If you want to spend that much on a motherboard you should be looking at 570 boards imo.
  10. https://www.space.com/voyager-plasma-hum-interstellar-space Crazy how they never expected to be able to maintain contact with these probes so far out when they launched but they're still making new discoveries.
  11. Just FYI, for anyone who cares and doesn't know this already, what you're referring to is the Fermi Paradox, which is basically an equation with many variables that's used to guess at the likelihood of other intelligent life in the universe. From my understanding, it's believed intelligent life can and does happen in the universe to a somewhat regular degree but it never survive long enough to colonize more than one star system. Though there are certainly hundreds if not thousands of different interpretations of the Fermi Paradox.
  12. in a few years there will be a lot more car companies with good electric vehicles on the market, and some from companies that never made cars before. When all a car boils down to is a giant electric motor and batteries hooked up to a computer in a frame with wheels on it, the kinds of companies that can easily make cars shifts a lot and a lot of tech companies are going to enter the market over the next decade. Musk has been great at getting the ball rolling on a tech projects that otherwise probably would have taken a lot longer to get to the same point but now that he's carved the path, many are following and soon Tesla will just be one of many EV brands.
  13. Dreading the day we start hearing terms like "quantum crypto" or "quantum mining". The source article is pretty short, here is another article that has a lot more info on this: Quantum computing: Intel's cryogenic chip shows it can control qubits even in a deep freeze (msn.com) Quantum computers need to be super cold, like just a few degrees above absolute zero. Intel didn't figure out how to solve that problem but rather they designed a more traditional chip that can operate at the same super cold temperatures that quantum chips work at.
  14. Could it be that if you're on the homepage and click the logo, it refreshes the home page and if your on the forum page and click the logo, it refreshes the forum page? IIRC I remember mentioning to you that the logo on the homepage linked to the forum page a while back before it was changed but I think at the time the main thread columns were not on the forum page. Now that they are, I'm not sure the homemade is even necessary at all.
  15. https://www.techspot.com/news/89663-elon-musk-tesla-stop-accepting-bitcoin-payment-crashes.html My thoughts on Bitcoin have generally been that it's really bad for the environment on many levels. If this starts a downward trend for crypto maybe people will be able to buy GPUs for gaming again.
  16. Have you tried the serenity prayer? ?
  17. Sounds like you have some specific interest in this. Care to elaborate? Why has this been on your radar?
  18. https://www.windowscentral.com/battlefield-6-also-coming-last-gen-xbox-one-ps4-consoles Sounds like they're going to do the same thing they did with bf4 and make it less players and smaller maps on last gen. Disappointed by this but not surprised. I wonder if their decision to support last gen would be any different if not for the chip shortages.
  19. https://www.techspot.com/news/89652-researchers-develop-injectable-microscopic-chip-monitor-physiological-conditions.html Sounds like an origin story for the borg.
  20. These have been thoroughly debunked. In pretty much all cases what you're seeing is a normal object like a plane or missile from an angle much further out than it initially appears.
  21. Chinese rocket debris is expected to crash into Earth soon. It's not the first time. - CNNPolitics The TLDR of it is that China is rushing to get its Space Station up and running so they can be more on par with the US and Russia, but uncontrolled re-entries of rockets this size is a big problem, not for people on the ground but for the risk of creating more space debris. I would expect China to bend to international pressure and make sure their next launches are more controlled. Time will tell.
  22. Metro Exodus will run at 4K/60FPS with full Ray tracing on Xbox Series X via upcoming free upgrade - OnMSFT.com Posted some news about the enhanced edition recently but I was pretty surprised to learn this is also coming to consoles with 4k/60 full RT. Seems like a really impressive feat to get this running so well on consoles.
