  1. Fair point, taking off the plastic would seem to be efficient in a closed system where airflow can be directed better. I wouldn't think that would work as well in a mining chassis, even with 5 fans blowing at high speed.
  2. Well that sucks, but 2 million PPD is damn good for a card. I would call that great for folding.
  3. Those cards put out some massive PPD. Why aren't you folding the breaks off of them? I would definitely buy one off you, not for 1500$ tho ? Get that dough toc, get that doe.
  4. In other news, mission control has been completely obliterated by extraterrestrial beings who utilized the gps coordinates found on the parachute to use an advanced weapon system.
  5. Well thats good to hear. I'll be in the dungeon trying to get the 8 M40's rolling tonight. I also have the BETA flag disabled.
  6. Don't think I didn't notice that 2.8 mil update @Bastiaan_NL. Thanks for letting me hold the #1 spot for a bit, felt good to be back on top, even for a short while. I suppose it's what I get for crushing your hopes and dreams all those past tourney's before you got the 3090's.
  7. That is an even better option. I have an EVGA 970, that partially works. I wish I could get working again. The thing works flawlessly for an hour or so and then locks up the system or flashes a solid color across the screen. I thought it was thermals, but I'm not sure anymore. I don't want to pay 100$ for a WB to find out. Maybe I should ebay it as "Parts Only" for 150$ LOL
  8. Get her a used 780 Ti, there are a bunch sub 100$ on ebay that would be a 344% increase in perf over her current card.
  9. You should highly consider the possibility that ANYTHING listed used these days that has >6GB RAM has been used for mining and is/could be on it's last leg. Would buy with caution.
  10. That is a cool test, the bottom is cut off, but the 26.26GB is bandwidth @4.0? This is "Currently" not relevant to folding as you get 100% PPD @ 8x on PCI-e 3.0. Meaning ANY bandwidth above is just over kill. And it also means don't pay the premium for 4.0 risers when 3.0 risers on a 4.0 capable lane will do just fine.
  11. Came across this today. Just thought it was cool to get an idea of how they monitor stock levels. I had been wondering.
  12. @ENTERPRISECame across this video, it is of a K80, but the principle is the same, it might give you an idea to cool these bad boys without needing to buy specific coolers for them. P.S. Do you know what software he is using to monitor his card???
  13. What I really need your help with and think is relevant to our situation is understanding the additions on the FaH client of GPU number and PCI-e bus and slot. IIRC they were additions the last time I updated the client that I had not seen before. I think a lot of my issues come from AMD and how it handles PCI-e lanes. Tonight, I am going to try and get 4 M40's per mining rack with 1 GT710 for display and see if it helps.
  14. Not a clue, I will have time to take a few apart this weekend. If you get to it sooner, let me know. In fact, this is the only picture I could find of the PCB and it's the 24GB variant of our 12GB card. If you want to have a wet dream, look into the Tesla GRID M40, it's 4 GPU's on one PCB.
  15. Just a heads up. This is a great thermal pad that is my second go to next to Fujipoly. I have never found the thermalright pads on anything except aliexpress. These pads are 12.8 W/mk and are priced great. I found them on Amazon today with free prime. My stock was running low and was looking to re-up and found them. Posting here for fellow members to see if interested. Looks like they only have 0.5mm and 1.0mm (Guess I bought the last of the 1mm) available. https://www.amazon.com/nkomax-Thermalright-Conductive-Resistance-Temperature/dp/B08CGL7MLN/ref=sr_1_10?dchild=1&keywords=thermal%2Bpads%2B11.0%2Bw%2Fmk&qid=1614172059&sr=8-10&th=1
  16. It's amazing what mining has done to the industry. Does a 100$ gamble on a mining card that is listed as parts only seem strange? Not at all. My bet is that 100$ gamble cost a days worth of mining for whoever bought it and was worth it to find out if the person selling the thing had less knowledge about tech than he/she did. I could probably fetch 1400$ for each of my 2080Ti's w/ their waterblocks, but what would be the point as there is nothing within reason to buy as an upgrade.
  17. You absolutely can. They register in afterburner. Though I have been so busy getting them running I haven't really played with them. Though at close to 1mil ppd stock, I don't know how far I would want to push them.
  18. Welcome to the big leagues. You'll snug right in behind Bastiaan and I. FAH benefits from a good stable core OC. FAH does NOT rely on MEM, so do not OC MEM while folding, it can result in bad wu's. You get ALL those cards folding, and you'll surpass my output for sure and you can carry on the torch of lighting bastiaans ass on fire.
  19. Question #1 - In regards to CPU/GPU, you want to dedicate at least 1 core PER GPU while folding. Just seeing the hardware you are bringing to the table, I would not even suggest you fold using CPU's at all, the returns are minimal compared to what your 2080Ti's and 3090 will produce. I.E. Not worth the wattage relative to PPD output. I any case, I would pair your best cpu/mobo and continue down the line. I would prioritize getting the dual Ti's and 3090 going and then add those 4 980's, they will be your biggest producers. Question #2 - Folding does rely heavily on bandwidth, you won't notice any difference between 16/8x, maybe a 10% reduction @4x and up to 30% in production at 1x. Usually we aim for 8x, but 4x is acceptable. Make sure you big producers are at 8x at all costs. You will want to read up on bifurcation cards as they will come in quite handy with all those GPU's.
