double click the empty boxes so you don't have to run the cache benchmarks every time

DDR5 is all over the place. Some kits were A-Die or M-Die only and then switched and some have always been a mix. Without looking at the RAM before you buy you won't know. F5-7200J3445G16GX2-TZ5RK seems to mostly be A-Die but there's still a chance you'd get M-Die.

there is. a lot of bare PCB Samsung kits a few Corsair DDR5-6000 CL36 kits have them.

dunno really, never really ran into any issues but I've never tried >32000. maybe try fewer flags or maybe I goofed on the order? Order shouldn't matter though. can drop the max errors and pause delay one and they'll just be set to the defaults. try "stressapptest -s 14400 -M 60000 -W" or "stressapptest -W -s 14400 -M 60000" you can drop the -W flag too but it'll make the test less intensive/effective. edit: order doesn't matter, works for me. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Maybe try another Ubuntu version? There's a few different Ubuntu versions on Windows Store and I'm using the first one. Neofetch says it's 22.04.3. It really shouldn't matter either though.

if you install Linux then the Linux users win It might be marginally faster at finding errors on a bare metal install but I haven't tested. I just use WSL. You could do it in a VM or live USB instead if you want. There's no really much to setup for GSAT. Enable WSL, download Ubuntu in Windows Store, start it, install stressapptest (sudo apt-get install stressaptest) and then start it with the parameters you want (for 4 hours with 60GB total: stressapptest -s 14400 -M 60000 --pause_delay 99999999 -W --max_errors 0). Then just let it finish. you can increase the 60000 to all your RAM if you aren't using your machine while it tests but I leave a few GB free so I can at least ask @iamjanco for my 4090 while the test runs

sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install stressapptest stressapptest -s X -M Y --pause delay Z -W --max_errors 1 x = length in seconds y = RAM to test in MB z = length of time in seconds between pauses you can play with pause delay if you're suspecting you're having an issue during power spikes between idle/load but I haven't found it useful. 4 hours, 30GB, no pause delay: stressapptest -s 14400 -M 30000 --pause_delay 99999999 -W --max_errors 0

Still runs toasty because 14" single fan laptop problems but no more throttling I swapped the SX8200 into my server and power consumption dropped about 2W idle. Assuming the Pilot doesn't properly utilize ASPM and maybe that's the reason I had 3 die?

so FMF: a) driver level b) doesn't require developer integration c) works on NVIDIA + AMD :: "works on NVIDIA" really means "works on NVIDIA when they add it to their driver" which I assume means they won't to avoid cannibalizing sales of the 4000 series, xd

the 1TB Muskin Pilot that I use in my server for backups died for the 3rd time I have an SX8200 in my laptop that runs super hot so I'm going to move that to my server, and put that^ in my laptop. Apparently the P31 is super efficient, so maybe no more throttling? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

GSAT is faster than Karhu's RAM Test if you want to save some time. I used to use RAM Test exclusively but I switched to GSAT when I had a intermittent issues that I couldn't track down. RAM Test would run overnight without issues but GSAT would catch it within a couple hours. and it's free

The story doesn't really get better at any point IMO. There's a "reveal" about midway through the main story that was a little surprising but for the most part the story is pretty meh. my biggest issue are the boring af temples. they're the same * thing 20 times (assuming you only get them once, if you max them out then it's 200). most of them are awful until at least a few level-ups but by then you're going to be so overpowered you're not going to need them anyway. protip: you can bind the boost pack to two keys in settings and the 2nd keybinding is an "alt" boost. Your 1st boost is the normal (mostly vertical) boost and the 2nd boost is more for moving forward (and/or strafing depending on the boost pack). 10/10 planet traversing with marginally less death.

I'll get a free 4090 one of these days

Anyone know of a Windows app that can scan for corrupt music files?

foobar2000 + File Integrity Verifier extension if you have Foobar2000 2.0 or newer then it's already built in. -

the only thing I remember of Morrowind is the intro and getting lost in Vivec I planned to revisit it this year while I waited for Starfield but I installed mods en masse and broke everything. Tried out New Vegas instead and just gonna wait for Skywind and/or the remaster now

I was more interested in the things they are/were planning than the actual dates. the document is what Bethesda provided MS when they first entered talks of buying them, so anywhere from early 2019 to early 2021. MS supposedly is the reason for Starfield getting pushed back (twice) so it makes sense. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ seems to be halfway between a remake and a remaster. a verified (ex?)employee leaked it a few months ago and said the game is going to be partially ported to UE5 but still rely on CE (CE2?) for the physics. No word on gameplay changes or bug fixes though. But Oblivion is a notoriously 100% balanced and a totally bug free game though, so it's not really needed teehee

not 100% Starfield related (and 2 years old, has the OG 2021 Starfield release date), but: Leaked Microsoft Doc Indicates Xbox Is Working On Oblivion Remaster, Fallout 3 Remaster, Dishonored 3, And More WWW.GAMEINFORMER.COM Various unseen court documents have leaked today, revealing new details and information about Xbox's future plans. tl;dr: * Oblivion Remaster = is (was?) in the works * Fallout 3 Remaster = is (was?) in the works * Elder Scrolls VI = 2024 I seriously doubt that the date for TES6 is accurate (late 2025 at the earliest is my guess) but neat to see that they are (were?) planning on remasters (RIP Skyblivion/Skywind?)
