  1. alternatively: no spoilers: go Starborn multiple times and choose not to skip the main story and (only) do the main story missions and optional temple/power missions on each. then hunker down and complete that playthrough spoilers: go Starborn multiple times and choose not to skip the main story and (only) do the main story missions and optional temple/power missions on each. then hunker down and complete that playthrough because: at least don't settle down and go completionist until NG(1)+
  2. upgraded: still no residential fiber in my area though
  3. that's the results, if you want to vote: What GPU for last round of Cheapaz 2023? - Online Poll - StrawPoll.com STRAWPOLL.COM
  4. that's the problem unfortunately the issue seems to be caused by visiting a planet before you're "supposed" to. you have to visit specific planets to collect artifacts, but if you visit any of them before the mission to collect the artifact then that story mission tied to that planet has a high probability of getting bugged. the issue being that a non-zero amount of those planets are shared locations with other (side) quests
  5. I sung my praises early 1st playthrough - did nothing but the main story missions required to progress the story, no issues. 2nd playthrough - took my time before returning the main story and soft locked myself TODD PLZ FIX 0/10 IGN
  6. my interest is pretty much solely in: Todd's "oUr GaMe Is OpTiMiZeD, pErFoRmAnCe Is BaD cUs Ur Pc SuCkS" comment made me think they were calling it a day on optimization
  7. AYO 75mb patch today: ALSO: no specific mention of poor man DLSS 3 FSR 3 though I doubt it but maybe. He claims he's getting "playable" frame rates with SLI 1070s. The game is playable on a single 1070 though so it's possible SLI isn't being used and he's just a doofus. can't really find any info other than that.
  8. my mostly cheat free mods so far: SFSE - self explanatory Baka Achievement Enabler - self explanatory Starfield Upscaler (DLSS) - self explanatory Cleanfield - No Intro Videos - self explanatory Natural LUTs - self explanatory Undelayed Menus - removes the awful delay in menus Ship Builder Tweaks - various tweaks to ship building (overlap tolerances the main benefit) SkyUI Inventory - the GOAT, same idea as SkyUI for Skyrim Enhanced Dialog Interface - makes the text dialog boxes marginally better Enhanced Player Healthbar - adds a gradual green -> yellow -> orange -> red color change to the health bar rather than just red @ 10% Ship Storage Multiplied - makes ship storage make sense (because storage containers the size of a bus holding only x2 more than my character is dumb) Visible Skills Descriptions - make locked skills show perks The Eyes of Beauty - stops everyone looking like they're on the verge of crying Burden Me Not - removes junk from being lootable and from showing on the scanner (can still interact though).
  9. FWIW: if you have a 3000/4000 series, force REBAR in NVIDIA Inspector. for whatever reason the game doesn't by default. Good for a few extra frames. NVIDIA Profile Inspector -> Starfield -> 5-Common -> change these from disabled to
  10. nooooo 1. Oblivion 2. Skyrim 3. Morrowind 4. Fallout 4 5. Fallout NV 6. Fallout 3? idk I skipped it still too early to tell with Starfield but it's looking like my new #1
  11. starting to think I'm never going to get that 4090
  12. TIL just looked it up and apparently that's why my monitor sometimes looks different than my old one. I went from an older AU Optronics 27" 1440p to an LG 32" 1440p and I couldn't describe why it looked different. after reading up it seems to be what I noticed. Certain combinations of font/font size/color/background color gives text a weird rainbow "fringe/halo." But it doesn't give me eye strain and I kind of stopped noticing it at all after a while.
  13. rushed through the story and managed to finish it in 14 hours. me speed run machine. going to start a new game and do an actual playthrough now
  14. found out that you can access your ship's inventory from any crafting table, so that's neat. would've been nice to know 10 hours ago tho. but for whatever reason you can't access items in storage within the same building (aka The Lodge downstairs crafting tables + room storage) Upgraded my ship so I have a 800 (IIRC?) inventory space and put in a pod so that I can have all* the crafting tables, so no more trekking. The HMS Pookie is now dope af. *all except research, can't find a pod with all of them
  15. if real space experience transferred into the game then you'd be level 999999999999 I spent 90% of my time so far over encumbered and walking at a snails pace just to find out you can't even disassemble junk/stuff into materials
  16. 1440p + high + FSR is about as much as I can go to mostly stay above 60. I started out on Ultra except motion blur without FSR @ 1440p and performance was OK until New Atlantis.... the graphics aren't awful but the graphics don't really match the performance Haven't played much with the individual settings so maybe there's some singular graphical setting gremlin that causes a 50% performance hit for 0.1% image quality benefit?
