  1. now imagine all the frames you'd get if you upgraded from that 6600 XT
  2. guess it doesn't really matter anymore, MS decided after ~2 years my Azure-acquired 8.1 Embedded Industry Pro key is no longer valid cus of reasons I still have two unused 8.1 EIP keys but I'm assuming they've been deactivated too. And I can't get more because apparently Azure only has Server keys now they used to have every edition of 7/8/8.1/10/11 and Server 2012/2016, now it's only Server 2019/2022... akdsl;wjf;aklsfjakls;dfj
  3. lower NB clock would hurt a bit but 300mhz shouldn't make that big of a difference. are secondaries/tertiaries set manually or are they on auto? never played with 11th gen though so beyond that ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ try updating to 1801? TUF Gaming Z590-PLUS WIFI|Motherboards|ASUS Global WWW.ASUS.COM TUF Gaming Z590-PLUS WIFI is an Intel® Z590 (LGA 1200) ATX gaming motherboard with 16 DrMOS power stages, PCIe® 4.0, one 64 Gbps M.2 slots, Intel® WiFi 6 and 2.5 Gb Ethernet, USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 Type-C®...
  4. bisect into two different compartments? likely won't help GPU temp much on its own but it might drop CPU/RAM temps when you've got a high GPU load. could test with cardboard and do something more a e s t h e t i c if it actually improves anything.
  5. I don't have any pictures of my first system (A64 3000+ Venice) 2nd system aka first paycheck build (E6300 + 8600 GS): First WC loop, same build as ^ but swapped the E6300 -> Q6600 and 8600 GS -> 8800 GT: Same build as ^ but in a U2-UFO and 8800 GT -> 9800 GTX there was a brief excursion into FM2 but I don't have any pictures. Ditched the loop and went to an AIO, golden X4 960T + GTX 560 SE: then I "upgraded" to an FX-8320 and crossfire HD 7870s ... but that system sucked and no pictures built an HTPC around a G3258 and realized how awful the 8320 was, so I built a 4690K system shortly after. No pictures of those either
  6. wish granted but he hires me first and makes me your manager I wish D'Jango actually bought/gave me all the PC hardware that I asked for
  7. Windows 7 has an older driver but 8.1 is SOL. There's a few threads online of people trying to get it working but apparently it's a no go for 8. Windows 8.1 gets near identical CPU scores to 7 and is easier to get SATA/USB functional on. For 7 I'd need a USB controller with 7 drivers and an HBA and I'm too cheap for that or you send me a Z790 Dark board, that SATA controller + PS/2 means it'd work out of the box
  8. guess I'll be moving to LTSC for my bench OS on modern GPUs and keeping 8.1 for CPU/legacy GPUs been trying everything I can find to get the RTX 3000 drivers working in 8.1 but nothing is working
  9. kinda surprising considering Forza 4/5 doesn't even work on LTSC because it's missing the Windows Store.
  10. me too. even thought I'm skipping this generation I'm not even interested in boards that don't have onboard 10 GbE. Asrock had ~$200 boards with 10 GbE during Z370/Z390's hayday (Taichi Ultimate), now the cheapest is a the $309 Gigabyte () Z690 Aero-D or $499 Asus ProArt X670
  11. gonna just ignore this: Posted September 30, 2021 If it's the same story for 11 as 10, then you should only need to yank the internet for Home editions. Haven't tested Pro, but for Win 11 Education (=Enterprise) a local account was an option during install even with internet connected.
  12. If the BIOS is socketable (hard to find high res PCB photos) then buy an EEPROM from eBay and have it preflashed to the older BIOS. I've used BIOS Chip Store and BIOS Depot in the past with success. I just messaged them beforehand and asked for a specific BIOS rather than the latest. AsRock B760M PG Riptide is $150 and supports it for 12th gen.
  13. time to be annoying again the HWBOT sidebar (I think?) brought it out of alignment again, but only for the "Latest Reviews" portion you could swap "written by x" to just "by x", but it might not fix it if someone with a long username submits. or change the text formatting of review titles and truncate after x characters to stop line breaks. swap these: "Corsair DDR5-7200 Dominator Platinum 32GB CL34 Review" "Corsair XH305i RGB Pro Review" "What Is A CPU 2022" to something like: "Review: Corsair DDR5-7200 Dominator Platinum [...]" "Review: Corsair XH305i RGB Pro" "Article: What Is a CPU?"
  14. I just thought you were into soldering and Skyrim but Maven Black-Flux was too on the nose also: woman
  15. what kind of size/orientation images are you looking for? I assume landscape?
  16. Makes me hopeful for the coming desktop APUs even though we probably won't see them until 2024
  17. antediluvian adjective of or belonging to the time before the biblical Flood. D'Jangoian adjective of or belonging to the time before the big bang
  18. 30 is grandpa status that makes sense, think most of my infractions were from him ... or Chimp
