  1. You wouldn't need a crossover cable in either situation unless the hardware is ancient. If you're using a ≥1 GbE NIC then it's safe to assume that you can just use a normal ethernet cable. I ran direct attached on my NAS up until I got a 10 GbE switch and I used the same cable from PC -> PC as PC -> switch. Is crossover cable still needed? SERVERFAULT.COM Do I still need a crossover cable to connect two PC's directly? (NIC <-> NIC)? If not, then why was this needed in the past, and when was it used for this? Specifically, when did crossover cab... Medium-dependent interface - Wikipedia EN.WIKIPEDIA.ORG
  2. you shouldn't need a crossover cable so long as your NIC supports mdix (aka, any NIC made in the past ~15 years). assuming it's a Windows machine you should just have to enable sharing in Network Connections on the NIC. Right click -> Properties -> Sharing:
  3. VIVA LA VW getting a new DPF (but no ETA) but most importantly, $0 and no moving in with D'Jango and his nasty gravy dispensers
  4. alternatively: d'jango never sends 4090 pookie empties bank account to fix car pookie gets deleted and becomes homeless
  5. what I'm hearing is that when/if the dealership fails, you'll fix it with an obligatory 100% BFF discount? I just wish the problem would have waited a few months. I just emptied my piggy bank when I did my timing belt, and if this situation goes the way I'm expecting it to I'm looking at about $2K for a delete + tune. but on the plus side I'd get fun noises
  6. I can force the regen but it fails. It's supposed to automatically regen when soot levels are >40g and EGT is above 600c. All three sensors are reading >600c but for whatever reason it's being flagged as too low and then fails with a CEL. Its already gotten new sensors the last time it happened. I dropped it off a VW yesterday and got a loaner Atlas so it's their problem now. Viva la extended emissions warranty. Worse case scenario they can't figure it out, offer to buy it for a stupidly low price (apparently that's their MO), and then I delete and roll coal
  7. TIL that EHW is just an elaborate ploy to steal our RAM
  8. ban Avacado, it's probably his fault
  9. Everything gets backed up to my server nightly and my server gets backed up to a couple of "external" drives using 5.25 to 3.5 Startech adapters + FreeFileSync. I usually don't backup to the external drives more than ~once a month but there's not too much I'd be super upset about losing. Anything that I can't lose is backed up Google Drive but it's not much.
  10. who needs an 808 when you have a VW and a hammer
  11. did my timing belt/water pump/tensioner yesterday with only minor headaches but afterwards on the the test drive I got a CEL for my NOx sensor (2nd time in <6 months), tried to use VCDS to recalibrate and/or force a regen but 0/10 success then today I rolled my rear passenger window down and it won't go back up woe is me Me: 1 VW: 2
  12. Asus has a Q70 LGA 1700 "industrial" board but I'd just buy/make a dust proof enclosure and mount it properly. Pro Q670M-C-CSM|Motherboards|ASUS Global WWW.ASUS.COM The ASUS Corporate Stable Model (CSM) program is designed to provide stable motherboards to any scale of businesses with up to 36-month supply, EOL notice & ECN control, and IT management...
  13. / are those "flaps" supposed to be for the VRAM? they aren't there on the Core version
  14. anyone who installs an outlet with the ground plug at the top is not to be trusted
