  1. I agree, all companies have a duty to make sure that data is kept safe to the best of their ability. It boggles my mind as to why some companies are still storing some data in plain txt. It was never ok, and its especially not ok to be doing it in this day and age.
  2. Very interesting read, looks like AMD is still continuing to tweak the AGESA too improve overall reliability regarding the CPU'S Boost capability. It is not unheard of for a company to make revisions..in factory its common place. However I did not know that the new Ryzens have faster and slower cores. That certainly explains the boost revisions and makes life tougher for a manual OC. Too Hot to Last? Investigating Intel's Claims About Ryzen Reliability
  3. Thanks for the insights bud. As you say, sounds like its as complicated as you make it. If I was going to go that route I would likely get myself a few NICs just for the sake of flexibility etc. I've noted Intel nics for best compatibility
  4. Just as a headsup you can use google docs to record your club members and embed here, just another option. I personally have looked into pfense but wondered how complicated it was to setup and maintain ? Unfortunately my time these days is at a premium and while I love the idea of pfense, it would not be something I could dedicate too much time to unfortunately. Does it have a wizard like interface ? Is it relatively easy to navigate ? Thanks, E
  5. I agree, that is the only complaint I have. I feel GPU boost is a little too sensitive, such a small change can really bomb your voltage, something I found out when OC'ing my 2080Ti's
  6. I am starting to see a pattern of worry from Intel, pushing all these "New" SKU'S out but still on an old node. They know they are getting hammered by AMD right now.
  7. Ha that is pretty sweet then! They are pretty darn basic...love the fact it has a hole for stowage rather than a glove box haha.
  8. I have to ask though, for £300, what is wrong with it ?
  9. Bummer. Unfortunately while data breaches suck, I will still remain on FB to two reasons that other platforms fail to do for me or simply does not exist. 1. It is great for networking with friends, family and business. 2. Its social media promo features. To be honest though FB will always be targeted due to how large they are. If there was another company just as large, we would be hearing about similar breaches. Is it good or right ? Hell no ! But is it part and parcel of the digital world we live in... I'm afraid so. You just have to take care of your own security as best you can.
  10. Cannot say I really watch Anime but I did watch Evangelion with my bro as he said I had to watch it lol. At first I was a little confused by it all but got there eventually. Always admire the amount of time and dedication that goes into Anime.
  11. At first I thought it would affect it negatively and I am sure that technically it does by a degree or 2 with it being mounted in front, that being said the cooling works just fine. I have an all core (32) OC at 4.1Ghz, full load I get to about 70C when its balls to the wall. I cannot complain with that.
  12. 10nm was a fail for Intel, I think we will only see the big guns come out once they get into 7nm
  13. This comes as no surprise, they need to do something when you consider just how well Ryzen is doing right now.
  14. Yeah GPU Boost 3.0 IS really great, though it it is very sensitive to temps, so the cooler you keep the card the more consistently it can boost !
  15. The Workstation market I would imagine has Nvidia all over it. I use workstations frequently as well as CAD software. I attend the CAD events here in the UK and I can tell you that Nvidia is in a good 99% of the showcased workstations from low end to high. To be fair to Nvidia, from what I have heard from our partners in the industry, they are very hands on and work well with the CAD software developers which of course goes along way, so power to them. Last time we used an AMD workstation card we had more issues with instability and performance. I decided to go Nvidia and things were much improved. Now im not saying that would always be the case, but from a company point of view once you have found a stable product...you stick with it. Time is money and a large majority of companies do not have time or resources to keep testing products from "the other side". Companies will rightly stick with what they know, in our case it was that Nvidia cards were better overall. Unfortunately that company mentality can be damaging to hardware manufacturers. You let a company down once, its hard to win their business back and in my experience AMD let us down, granted only the once but that is all it takes.
  16. Spoiler BBCODE has now been perfected for those interested lol.
  17. Ahh, bummer! While it is an ES, are you sure its not fake ? There have been some very impressive fakes on Ebay as of late. Either way, sucks it's giving you grief.
  18. Oh bummer, so faulty CPU ? Possibly a reseat ? I know it been known that 1 poor contact in the wrong place can cause mem issues.
  19. Somewhat OT, but I am already working on the SPOILER BBCODE again so that it does no wrap everyline with the dotted lines, I know it is somewhat ugly, so I am working on a solution for that one
