  1. Hello all, I just wanted to take a moment and let you all know that I am aware of the slow performance of the site currently. We are looking into what is causing it with a view of remedying the problem as well as running some general optimizations. Thanks, E
  2. I assume you are transferring over USB as that is slow, no wonder you are pulling your hair out lol. I would suggest in the future to go networked

  4. It really is personal preference but my data continuity is as follows: RAID 1 Mirror (Inside TrueNas Scale Server) Onsite External NAS (Server Backup Nightly) Offsite Cloud Sync (Server Sync Nightly) My data is likely the most precious thing I own, so I am fairly careful with it. Granted, I already have a subscription to Google Workspace which by extension is 10TB in size and more than enough to space for me to upload to. That being said, for efficiency only the most important data I have gets offloaded into my cloud backup. No point in storing EVERYTHING up there. Literally the only reason I have Offsite backups to the cloud is in case of the even of fire or some other form of catastrophic destruction.
  5. Welcome to EHW! Good to see another brother move over to us
  6. I love it. Pure upcycling and a great use of unused hardware, hopefully will help with the upcoming summer, could always put an ice pack behind it and have poor mans AC lol.
  7. I have used LARS and they are usually very close in their estimates, so it is a great source for helping you choose which GPU's to buy.
  8. So long as any motherboard in question has a PCIe 4.0+ capable slot and allows for current gen CPU to avoid any bottlenecks, then you should be fine. Generally speaking, the motherboard itself is the least of your worries so far as the vibrations/harsh movements. You would need to ensure the GPU is harnessed into a chassis really well, otherwise it will rip out of the PCIe slot, which could kill both GPU and Motherboard. The same can be said for a CPU cooler, harsh movements could cause damage. In your instance you would be best advised to use an AIO cooler as the CPU block has a low center of gravity and is not all that heavy. An AIO RAD would inherently be secured to a chassis anyway and should be fine. It also goes without saying, no mechanical HDD's. No HDD would survive life in a moving vehicle, not offroading. So stick to SSD/NVMe.
  9. Hey guys, A note regarding AI/ChatGPT related topics, whether news or otherwise. These types of topics can be divisive and like political topics, can go south very quickly. While AI/ChatGPT is technology which is something we will continue to host, please be mindful of your responses in these topics, if you feel your contribution or replies will "Heat Up" topics, it is probably best to refrain from replying, or rethink your response If I see any issues arise in a topic, it will be closed/hidden by myself. Lets keep the quality high and the noise low. This is just a general friendly reminder to ensure that we keep the community enjoyable for all All the best, E
  10. Hello all, It is with great pleasure that we announce the opening of the ExtremeHW Merchandise Store. You can access the store by going to our main menu and browsing to Store -> Merchandise, alternatively you can click the link HERE. As of the launch we have a few products available for purchase that we are looking to increase as time goes on, so this is not the finished store but we feel this is a good starting point. Right now we plan on adding the following next (Subject to availability) Lanyards/Keyrings Hoodies Additional Designs To Existing Products For ease of management we have selected Etsy as our storefront, some of you will undoubtedly be familiar with Etsy, if not, then here is your chance! If you have any questions about the store, please see the FAQ section excerpt as below taken from our Etsy Page, or failing that, please feel free to ask in this topic. A huge thanks goes to the following members for their contributions in making the store possible. @UltraMega @neurotix @Avacado @iamjanco @damric @bonami2 All the best, E
  11. There will be a more formal announcement, but the store has launched as of today. Please note that we are testing out the durability of the current t-shirt offerings. If all goes well, we can get this added to the roster. We will look to add more products very soon. To access the store, please go to the menu bar and browse to Store -> Merchandise
  12. Well done bud That is an awesome achievement for the project (and you of course). Thanks for all your efforts for team EHW!
  13. We had a storage issue whereby we had unknowingly maxed it out. We are putting in measures so this does not happen again. With non flexible storage such as what is offered on AWS and other similar platforms, you have to keep a close eye. As I say, measures have been put into place to ensure this does not become an issue in the future
  14. Will have to keep an eye on it, still looks to be a host issue, but will have the server admin take a look at the server to make sure something has not been knocked out of whack.
  15. Strange. I can only assume host issues still.
  16. Fixed now. Looks like this was a symptom of a larger issue.
