So, according to AI tools, this GPU sharing tool I created MIGHT not work correctly setting an incredibly LOW GPU usage percentage. I was planning on setting up some more VM's on my server box with a low percentage, like 5% GPU usage, so that way they could at least use the GPU for desktop things.
So, with that said, I'm going to work on a re-write of the script in the next few weeks. I'd like to see this program at a point where it'll happily allocate any GPU in a VM, with as little as a 5% setting. So we'll see if I get it there.
As is:
This app has been tested with an Intel Arc A770 on Windows 11, and works correctly with large allocation splits like 40%, 50%, etc. Smaller usage percentages have NOT been tested, nor has any other cards (although the script was written generically with the 16GB Arc A770 installed, it does not call the Intel card specifically). -
Also the PCI zotac GT430/GT520. To add physx to your 7800.
Hold on a second there, WHAT? That's actually a thing????????
Okay yup, I need to find these cards. I have a Socket 754 system that could probably play PhysX titles great with a GPU setup like that. -
Maaaaaaaan I really wish I saw this earlier. I spent a few hours in powers(hell) getting my GPU to passthrough to my VM. I'll try it on my next attempt!
Well, I spent about a week+ working on this app, so I DON'T have to spend hours every time.
You can actually go in there and edit the script or the text file in the data directory too, so you can change your own "default directories" in the "app" (batch file) so you don't have to type your directory each time. I think my current version has a changed default directory of D:\Hyper-V\ instead. Otherwise I haven't made any changes, and this script + batch file is doing all the heavy lifting on my VM server.-

Shop looks good.
Thank you. I know the store is a tad different than the Etsy store, we're still working on trying to figure out how to get all those original products back too. If I have to move it back over to Etsy later, I will.....this is just the start, so we'd have SOME sort of merch shop again.
We're also running promotions all month long in celebration. I believe all orders are 25% off right now!-

I wish i could find a Galaxy GeForce 7950GT AGP to test against my HD3850 AGP. To see if it is any faster. Or AGP bottlenecked.
That's a good point to be honest. AGP cards of decent performance are hard to get ahold of anyway. When you do find one, they're overpriced because of rarity. I don't have the 7800 or the 3850 either, as I already assumed those were out of reach. Planned on stopping AGP with the Radeon 9800XT and the GeForce 6800 myself.
That HD3850 AGP card you have is a rare one. -
Hello all,
Due to the site re-organization and new ownership, we were unfortunately not able to retain the Etsy store that we had going before. We now have a new store through spreadshop, a popular Youtube channel merch shop. The designs are currently in beta, so if you do happen to decide to make a purchase, please LOOK BEFORE YOU BUY. If you happen to see an eyesore of a design on the store, please post it here and let me know so I can fix it.
If anybody has any design suggestions also, please let me know!As of the launch we have a few products available for purchase that we are looking to increase as time goes on, so this is not the finished store but we feel this is a good starting point. Right now we plan on adding the following next (Subject to availability)
- Enhanced Designs To Existing Products
- Additional Designs To Existing Product Lines
- Additional Content Creators
- Additional Products
For ease of management we have selected to combine ExtremeHW and the gaming sub culture eXtremeGaming, some of you will undoubtedly be familiar with eXtremeGaming, if not, then here is your chance! All proceeds on the merch store will go towards various prizes, site upkeep, and possibly dedicated prizes to the youtuber team.
If you have any questions about the store, please feel free to ask in this topic.
Current Design Options:- ExtremeHW Logo with Slogan
- eXtremeGaming Logo
- piodoesdonuts Youtube Logo
- JDQ Gaming Youtube Logo
Yes, we do still have the original graphics from the first store. No, I cannot confirm if they'll be all be available on the new store or not as of the time of this post. The store is a work in progress, and of course I'd like to have the old products available again too.

FAIR WARNING:IF ORDERING CLOTHING, ORDER AT LEAST ONE SIZE LARGER.
(I'm normally an XL in sweater and a M in shirts, and a L in shirts and 2XL sweater seems to fit me perfect)

I had an FX-8350 gaming and benching stable at 5GHz. It was also lapped. It ended up going to damric, then pio, then back to damric (I think.)
Good memories too, the thing was fun to overclock especially with 2400MHz RAM and a HT and CPU/NB OC.
Unfortunately, I moved on because it severely bottlenecked two 290s in Crossfire:
Valley 1080p FX-8350 5GHZ with two 290s: 95 fps
Valley 1080p i7-4770k at stock: 110 fps
Valley 1080p i7-4770k at 4.5GHz: 135 fps
Yeah they were good chips and fun to OC, but I don't really think they were ahead of their time.
Yes, Damric has your old CPU again. And how did it bottleneck two R9 290's? I had crossfire RX 580's with mine, did a great job. That's how I blew mine up. -
No the FX5000 series was actually faster than the 4000 series before it. Sometimes...
Ehhhhhhh..............my GF 4 Ti would like to have a word with your FX 5 series card.
That reminds me, I still need an FX 5950 Ultra. The really bad thing, those FX series cards that everybody hated are now more expensive than modern GPU's. Can literally buy a 5060 / 5060Ti for cheaper than a good condition FX 5950 Ultra. -_-
Also - why is it more fun to talk about the FX 5000 series cards and the failure that those were, instead of the RTX 5000 series? -

Let's see. Q_Cruncher is long time veteran @tictoc right?
MicheleEHW is @mmcdonald12
CtpAsian is @Supercrumpet
And hertz9753, well he's somehow fighting from the grave *respect*
Thank you for helping me with that! Corrected everyone's signature badge, so hopefully that's everyone from this year.
Prize drawing has been drawn. Video will be uploaded momentarily. -
We've decided to go ahead and draw ONE random winner for ONE GPU prize draw since we have so many graphics cards.
We'll be doing a video drawing here in about an hour for ONE random person to win an RX 580 8GB as a thank you effort, since we didn't meet metrics anyway.
(Image not our image - but this is the same MSI RX 580's we have on hand):

I've added signature badges for everyone that participated this year. Still trying to figure out what we're going to do about prizes (event ends in 10 minutes).
I was unable to find the following members on site to apply the badges though (perhaps user names are different on site):- Q_Cruncher
- MicheleEHW
- CptAsian
- hertz9753
Please DM me (I just need user names on site), and I'll get those badges sorted out for you 4. -
I vote out for myself. I was gaming half the the time and had a stuck work unit
I will do better next time.
No worries bro. We're just happy to be able to bring these events back again, and hopefully bigger and better each time.
I know YOU might not want prizes, but what do you think we should do about them? We're trying to listen to everyone's opinion on this one, as I think this was the biggest prize pot the site's had to date, but also the lowest participation rate. -
Alright guys, event ends in 2 hours. It's the home stretch!!!!!
Question.
We didn't come anywhere NEAR the numbers I was hoping to see, of 50 participants. I even lowered that down to half and said 25 people join up and we'll still give out these prizes. Unfortunately, we ended up with 17 participants. So we want to hear from YOU. All of you.
Mine and Labrat's position is maybe we shouldn't send out these prizes as we didn't hit even half of the participants we wanted. Or perhaps maybe just offer up the RAM kit as a random draw since the RAM kit wasn't too expensive. What do you guys think? I was sincerely hoping we'd hit those metrics. Let's get your guys' opinions on the prizes and what we should do with them as the event winds down today.-

Just a couple more days, and since we're still wanting to do the prizes, let's shoot for 25 people involved in the foldathon instead of 50. We need 8 more people to fold, just get your names on the board!

What kind of PPD you getting on that 9070 XT out of curiosity and how does that compare to your old 7900 XTX?
9070 XT seems to be settling in around 6-6.7m PPD or so (mine and Labrat's both).
7900 XTX is settling in around 7.7m PPD.-

Seems to be slightly less. I had to reboot and haven't fired it back up, but its reporting around 6m PPD so far. I can probably give better numbers in a day or so.

Well I am bummed. Started the client, changed the team to HW. Finished a wu and saw no points to HW. After some head scratching checked TPU stats and they got the credit even tho my client says HW. Will run 1 more if it doesnt change I will fire up a different comp for HW. Sorry guys.
No worries at all. You've got 96 hours to get some units in, you can do it!
If we get enough people in, I'm thinking we're probably just going to do a random draw for the prizes to keep it fair for everyone.-

Just a few more hours till event starts guys. I want to see 50 people competing this year for the prizes. Let's see if we can at least get close to last year's numbers (45 people).
I'd like to send these prizes out!
My own stats will be lagged, as I need my rig tonight for youtube stuff. I'll start my folding up tonight though afterwards. Good luck everyone!-

Igor's Lab uncovers 'hotspot issue' affecting all RTX 50-series GPUs — says it could compromise graphics card longevity
Power delivery hotspots can run hotter than the GPU core itself.
Igor's Lab has discovered a worrying trend among all Nvidia Blackwell RTX 50-series graphics cards, including even faux-budget GPUs like the RTX 5060 Ti. According to a lengthy blog post the outlet published, most if not all RTX 50-series AIB partner cards are allegedly prone to high-temperature hotspots in the power delivery area, which could potentially damage these graphics cards after extended heavy use.
The problem lies in the construction of power delivery systems for the affected graphics cards. Igor's Lab states that several components that make up the power delivery system, such as the FETs, coils, drivers, and traces connecting everything together, are grouped too close together, creating temperatures that can potentially deteriorate the power delivery system over the course of a card's life, potentially killing the card after just a few years of use.Igor's Lab uncovers 'hotspot issue' affecting all RTX 50-series GPUs — says it could compromise graphics card longevity | Tom's Hardware

Definitely not a good trend to be starting. This entire 50 series launch seems like its been a complete disaster. I honestly don't think there's a single 50 series card I'd even recommend to somebody at this point; unless you're an enthusiast and are willing to take apart your card to fix it before you install it.-

AMD Radeon AI PRO R9700 32GB Graphics Card Announced at Computex

Idk but WANT.
My 9070XT feels like a decent upgrade over my 7900XTX. However there's one place where it doesn't, and that's when I run out of VRAM (and I have). My 9070XT hits that VRAM wall on my monitor, my 7900XTX will just keep chugging and chugging with its 24GB. Honestly I'm kind of torn which card's better at this point in my system. The 9070XT performs better with modern titles and frame gen stuff / FSR type things. But that VRAM wall does hit hard, I end up with single digit stuttering when I hit it, whereas on my 7900XTX that was never ever a problem.
This card fixes that issue and makes Navi 48 and proper upgrade. Will be interesting to see what they price at for sure.
