  1. Walked out this morning and it was too nice out to not take the Miata. Stopped at the grocery store to pick up some snacks along the way I wish this thing actually got 35+ MPG... Maybe if it spent less time sideways at 7000RPM
  2. I've got a fever and the only prescription is more cowbell Also, I like the Frank painting
  3. Always enjoy seeing your setup and its progression. Seems I spot a new interesting tidbit every time you post. This time, it's the pair of drum sticks you have mounted. Are you a drummer/percussionist?
  4. I like how writing everything on the whiteboard wasn't enough and that you've taken time to label everything as well... Peak OCD Meanwhile I fully expect you to make fun of me when it's hours before the comp ends and I'm drunk at 2am tearing the office apart trying to find some random piece of hardware to get a sub in.
  5. I like it when you talk dirty
  6. Great review! 4x NVMe plug and play with backwards compatibility without needing bifurcation is huge. The existing solutions in this space are either just a "dumb" card that is cheaper but just splits up an x16 slot. In addition to it using up said x16 slot, that also requires a motherboard that can do x4x4x4x4 which is mostly only in HEDT platforms. Or they are fancy hardware NVMe RAID cards that cost several times more than this Sabrent. This was a product I really could have used a couple years ago. At the time I settled for SATA drives, then ended up shelling out more for motherboards with multiple onboard M.2 and buying larger capacity drives once that was available.
  7. If the Onlyfans doesn't work out, being an EHW model was my 2nd choice
  8. Shirt showed up a couple days ago. Washed and dried with no issues, fits good. Mug just showed up! It's 80f in the office right meow so not in the mood for hot coffee. It does work to collect all the tools I had scattered on the work bench though
  9. Got some scores on the board with the Sapphire card, but based on the heavy green snow artifacts, it's probably not gonna last long or take much more abuse... Conveniently, have two other 6850s Next in line to get fluxxxed up is the Asus card. @Bastiaan_NL helped me figure out the controller and how to mod this thing, so I soldered it up and will see how she does. Soldering this was a challenge. I bridged a connection the first try, but think I got it... Yes I went nuts with the hot glue to keep everything from moving around. Thought it would look slick to pass the wires through this hole and it worked out well. Again shot nice load of hot glue on it just to be safe. That hole wasn't used for cooler mounting so I can still pop the stock cooler on to test before I swap the waterblock over.
  10. Yes I'm always on board for trying to talk Basti into bad decisions
  11. Me looking at the GTX 690 on ebay that I was bidding on with out researching the limitations of the comp
  12. Just ordered an EHW shirt and mug so I can I can impress all the ladies
  13. Coming from some old Creative PC speakers, literally anything of decent quality is going to blow you away. Sounds like you actually DON'T want a surround setup if you just run your current 5.1 with all the speakers on your desk... Really it seems like you just need some decent quality speakers for when you don't feel like wearing the headphones. So I would stick to a 2 channel setup. Whether you want a sub or not sort of dictates the direction you would want to go. I've been down this path in a couple different directions. I've used a home theater receiver with decent speakers/ subs which worked well but the receiver took up a lot of desk space. I've done setups with 2 channel compact amps with passive speakers. Currently using powered nearfield studio monitors. My main rig uses the slightly larger JBL 306p than what have already been recommended. I have them hooked up to a Motu M4 USB interface since I use an XLR mic I also have a Monolith 10" THX sub (a little overkill lol) Based on how much I love this setup, I'd easily throw another vote for the 305p JBL's.
  14. Lol you know me too well. I'm not normally a competitive person but love getting fired up during foldathons. If a little banter can push people to fold a little more that's awesome. At the end of the day there are no losers, it's all going towards a good cause
  15. That was just the last few hours to make up a ton of points in a short amount of time. Prior to that it was just the 4070ti and one 3090. Don't go blowing up your 4090 just to beat me lol I'll go easy on you the next couple months because it's hot and I won't want to fire up that much hardware
  16. 3x 3090s and a 2080 on water, 4070ti on air. I got a couple WUs in on the 3080ti before I started tripping breakers. I love close races in the foldathons. If it would have been hotter this weekend I wouldn't have shot for third. I'd have just let it be a race between you and I and sprinkled on just enough extra power to beat you
  17. I actually tried adding 3... A 3080ti and two more 3090s. Tripped the breaker to the office. Power limited the cards, still tripped it again. Took the 3080ti back offline. Crazy come from behind win though considering I was on pace with Alex the day before and made up the gap in less than a day.
  18. I've been buying all sorts of random PC parts lately, but one of the things I'm more exited about is the new receiver for my home theater. A while back the main HDMI out port on my Denon receiver died. The 2nd HDMI out still works, but only had eARC on the primary which I need for my setup. I reverted back to an older receiver that lacked Atmos, DTS:X etc for the time being. Recently got a deal on a Sony STR-AN1000. I've now had it installed the past couple weekends and I've been loving it. Atmos content feels more accurate than the Denon and it also has 360 Spatial Sound which I didn't have before.
  19. Still waiting on the shirts to hit the merch store so I can order a shirt and a mug at the same time. In the meantime, I am rocking the EHW stickers that I had made up before the official merch store opened up. My Test bench at home Bonus pic of it in the dungeon * I'll also be patiently waiting the release of the EWH bikini
  20. Jan puts up a lot of content that fits his saved search criteria
  21. As always, good job everybody that participated. Special thank you to @firedfly. He has been wasting no time in his new role as Folding@home staff. The stats page he came up with worked great!
  22. I wouldn't call myself an Asus fangirl but we do have a TON of Asus products in the house and have had great luck with them. The 3D modeling rig I built for my roommate has been running a ProArt X570-Creator since we last refreshed it with the 3090s and it's run 24/7. We also have a couple of the ProArt calibrated monitors and they are really nice. Both my AM5 setups have Asus boards (the Crosshair Gene admittedly has issues with the 2.5g NIC but that's a common issue with Intel i225-v). The z790-I I just picked up works great so far. Point being, I wouldn't totally write them off. Especially the ProArt series since it's more aimed at being a no nonsense line of quality parts without the L33T G@M3R BS and ROG tax. Also, why are you so hung up on Gen 5 SSDs? Yes it's cool to flex the big numbers but in real world usage Gen 3 or 4 will be more than plenty for the next 5+ years. Hell, most people can barely tell the difference between SATA and gen3 SSDs in todays workloads. By the time having gen5 storage really matters, you will need a whole platform refresh anyways.
  23. I actually like that they still have PS/2 ports. I'm not some extreme overclocker that's disabling my USB controllers to free up that last little bit of system resources, but I do have some vintage mechanical keyboards that I still like to use occasionally.
