  1. I don't know what I'm doing but I'll just crack a few cold ones and see what happens I'll wait to do any actual subs until we're all in discord so I can try to avoid bad subs that will get thrown out for me being stupid Not like that's ever happened before
  2. So a lot's changed since I last updated this. The parts that were in this case have found homes in different builds or setups, and the case is now planned for a permanent build. The case will house the 10850K and motherboard that's currently in my bedroom PC along with the Arc. Custom loop for CPU only with an external D5 and rad going to a Ncore V1 direct die block that I got from Avacado. Arc will just run the stock cooler. This PC will be used for streaming while on the test bench. (totally overkill for that, but I'll probably put a couple games on it to play while waiting on benchmarks to run). I've already setup everything with my travel PC as a stand in to test functionality. The EVGA XR1, Insta360 Link camera, and USB microscope are all sources that can be streamed. Even if I'm not streaming, I can open OBS an see what's connected to the XR1 (the test bench) so that I can work on both the test bench and streaming PC without having to switch inputs on the monitor. I have a USB switcher so I can swap one keyboard and mouse between PC.
  3. Not sure if it was safe to let me install this sexy copper block... I'm starting to feel like my Titan Black at home could use a friend for SLI...
  4. Bring it on! A few of us know a thing or two... If you've been out of it for a while you'll be impressed by the PPD some of these newer cards are putting out
  5. In fluxmaven I can do through the 20th, the 30th is pushing it
  6. There is really zero point in getting worked up over the merch. We aren't under any strict deadline here. When you have some time, make stuff. If it works out great, if not revise it till it is. Don't take it personal if people don't like everything you come up with. It's part of the process. You find out what works and doesn't work with practice. I've scrapped hundreds of designs that I though sounded cool until I started working on them and they just didn't pan out. Don't get hung up on things, just move on to the next idea.
  7. Came out nice. BOX Navies are one of my favorite switches as well.
  8. The plain gray still works the best, but your other designs are much more legible than the first versions. I tossed together a quick example with more subtle stripes. Not trying to infer that this design is any better. Just trying to highlight what I was going on about in regards to legibility. These are going to end up as what, 4x1" keytags? A good test is to view them at the actual size on your computer then back up a few feet to get a better idea of the readability in person. Either way, I'm just trying to offer other points of view or constructive criticism.
  9. You could fit a thicker rad with push/pull and a larger motherboard, but the issue then becomes pump/reservoir placement. If you didn't have any tall/long expansion cards you could put the “expansion card retainer” bracket further forward to mount a pump/res combo and it would just be suspended over the motherboard.
  10. Lol I was actually going to send you that X58 block on discord but got distracted. I picked up a few odds and ends myself.
  11. Regardless of the drama from a few years back, it's kinda sad to see another OG site closing down.
  12. Yea I really don't see any point in buying a 7900X3D at all. Regular 7900X is cheaper and doesn't turn into a 6 core when gaming. Even if most games don't use more than 6-8 threads, it's still nice having plenty to handle background tasks. All these CPU reviews doing tests with just a game running at 1080p... Would be nice to see what happens when you have a system with a more than just a game running. When I'm "just" gaming I still typically have Aquasuite, Discord, game launchers, and a web browser with several tabs open on a second screen. In addition to all the other software that runs in the back ground like Adobe CC, audio interface, F@H etc. 7800X3D is obviously a solid choice for a gaming focused build, but with the deals on non 3D parts, it almost feels hard to justify as well. The 7950X3D has potential once they adjust the pricing. At $699 it makes more sense to go 13900K for a good gaming + productivity platform.
  13. This is a good move. When I was first lured over here from OCN, dark theme was my first priority. I picked up a subscription to get it because I knew this place was full of good people and I realize that it takes money to grow a site. At the same time, I wouldn't want people to not join or stick around over something as trivial as dark mode. Thank you for your continued work to improve the site and make it more accessible to our growing member base!
  14. Unfortunately no, they took it back. I would have been interested if they offered it at a discount. I think all 4070ti's are badly priced at MSRP (that Zotac is between $880-999 depending on vendor/sale). I bought my MSI 4070ti for $585 open box at Microcenter when they received a flood of returns from all the people that realized nobody would pay a scalper markup on an already overpriced card At around $600 or less I think the 4070ti is a good card. It's just hard to swallow paying $800+ for such a cut down card when previous gen flagships can be had for for less. Even with all the DLSS trickery making them perform similar to a 3090 or 6950 today, I like having more VRAM to keep cards relevant for longer. My favorite example being my 6gb Titan Black. I was still using that regularly as recently as 2 years ago, whereas a 3gb 780Ti started showing its age much sooner. Funny enough, the most recent AMD cards I own prior to getting the 6950XT are a pair of 7970 Ghz cards. Back when they were relevant I was still using mostly Nvidia cards though. Last year I had them in a system with a 5600x and they actually ran great in crossfire playing Assetto Corsa and the drivers were fine. I don't remember the 6950 temps off the top of my head, but I don't remember them being horrible with the block. Of the recent testing I did, the XT was the hottest with the stock cooler. With the block and a mild undervolt/overclock it was scoring way higher on benches before I even started pushing it. I just haven't had time to mess with it since I finished the reviews. In the last few years I've switched from running 100% Intel + Nvidia in my regular rigs, to giving AMD a chance. I have been enjoying my Ryzen CPUs and so far the 6950XT has been great too. If their F@H performance wasn't so bad compared to Nvidia, I'd probably pick up more of their GPUs.
  15. I have it mounted on the wall to get it as far back as possible. It's really just FPS games where it feels too big. For everything else it's awesome. I gave my roommate the 42" Strix which is setup just to the right of my setup so I can still compare them back to back. Which is how I know a 42" OLED would be perfect
  16. +1 for glossy. I have all sorts of other lights reflecting in the room and still prefer it over matte. The whole office is actually surrounded by RGB lighting as well as all the PCs that are lit up like a disco I got used to the reflections pretty quick and the much nicer image quality vs a matte screen is worth it.
  17. I forget the exact path when I don't have it in front of me, but the power on hours are in the menu. It's probably in a different spot on the C1 vs CX because LG just likes making things inconvenient I have the 48 wall mounted behind the desk it's awesome for productivity, but it's still just a touch too big for serious full screen gaming. If the 42" version had been around back when I bought it, I would have gotten one. Once the monitors with the 42" panel are more common/cheaper I'll swap to one of those. I've seen some decent deals on the LG 42, but if I bother to swap it out, I don't want to go with a TV again.
  18. Thanks for taking the time to look at the review! I will probably end up putting a 1080mm rad on a rack shelf behind the case on QD fittings since I wasn't able to achieve the results I'm used to with just a slim 360 and 160mm rads. As for the 12VHPWR connections, I wish they hadn't bothered. I already have plenty of custom cable sets and I think triple 8 pin PCIe power cables looks nice. If it weren't for the abysmal Folding@Home performance, I'd just go all AMD GPU's and not have to bother with the new connector.
  19. I'm not gonna lie, I didn't like the design language of the newer Zotac cards when I first saw them online. After seeing the card in person, I became much more fond of it. the cooler and RGB are really nice in person. I really wish I could have convinced Zotac to let me keep it as it was a really lovely card.
  20. I am currently at 1743 hours on my CX 48. Prior to this I had an Asus Strix 42" 4K VA panel. I can confidently say that I LOVE OLED and don't see myself using anything else on my primary workstation for the foreseeable future. I would definitely go back to 42" because I think that's the sweet spot for 100% scaling. Also It would be nice to go back to a "monitor" and not a TV. The auto-dimming is really only a minor inconvenience to me. I can open a new browser tab to kick the brightness back up if it manages to dim before I get through whatever I'm looking at.
