  1. By the time I stop getting sent out of town for work and actually get time to play with the card it will run great
  2. Because I'm an idiot and like weird overpriced crap... I like running cases that not everyone and their sister has. I prefer thick aluminum vs stamped steel. I enjoy non standard layouts. When I help friends build PCs we go with cheaper cases because to them it's just the box that holds the parts.
  3. Unfortunately my mom sold her embroidery machine when she moved earlier this year. Could have made some cool stuff. I might just make or commission a small batch of stickers since those would be cheap to mail to everybody. I'll have to experiment a bit. I know at least one of the silhouette vinyl cutters works. I haven't touched my wide format photo printer in a couple years so it might be fubar from neglect lol.
  4. Thermalfake vs Caselabs... Usually starts off as a mild disagreement then goes off the rails
  5. I want stickers for my test bench... And possibly custom keycaps like on the old OCN Ducky boards.
  6. I can't hardly stand to browse r/watercooling anymore. Most of the builds are the same overdone crap. When people ask for advice 100 people come out of the woodwork to toss their 2 cents even if they have almost no experience. "buy EK mystic fog, it looks cool. Don't worry about the haters, I've had it in for 2 weeks and my system hasn't blown up yet".
  7. My main PC is still in an LD cooling case. Sadly mine is just the LD PC-V7 so just custom watercooling, no phase change. I used to have a 4790k and the same RAM that was used in this video as well.
  8. Not surprised that sales are down. Prices are still wack. After the holidays the demand will drop even further. AMD's cards will be out by then so hopefully it encourages Nvidia to drop prices a bit.
  9. Damn dude... You just got that thing back. Amazon.com WWW.AMAZON.COM
  10. Crazy to see how far we've come on storage speeds/capacities. I still have a stack of old firelite external HDDs that I used to think were amazing (until USB 3.0 came out and everyone forgot about firewire lol).
  11. Not a lot to see on mine . Primary monitor is a 48" OLED so I auto hide task bar and don't have desktop icons.
  12. I like the idea, but it could use some work. IDK why they went with such thick grill slats. At $525 you could DIY the same thing with an Alphacool rad for less money or build out a legit MO-RA3 setup for around the same.
  13. Depends on the CPU but I'd want more rad space. Open frame is best case scenario for rads since there's fresh air intake and no restrictions. Any case is going to perform slightly to moderately worse depending on airflow. It also comes down to your expectations. If you have some powerful fans you don't mind running at full blast, you can get away with less radiator. If you want to push overclocks, or have the system be quiet, you'll need more rad. Most mid tower cases support multiple radiators.
  14. Are you planning on cooling a 3080ti and a CPU with just one 360mm rad? What case are you using currently and how much smaller are you realistically trying to go? The 360GTX and 200mm reservoir already rule out anything SFF.
  15. Lately I've just been hopping on the new CoD MW2 for a couple games then getting off. I need to start diving back into some of my unfinished games. Nier Replicant, Cyberpunk 2077, and FF7 Remake. Going to replay Portal once the RTX mod is released.
  16. Price drop and better free RAM are what pushed me to go ahead and grab a new Ryzen chip now. Microcenter has been offering free DDR5 kits on Zen4 pretty much since launch but originally it was a 5600CL36. Now they are handing out free 6000CL30 kits. Once more ITX boards are out, I'll grab something better to put in the Gene and move the 7700x into my bedroom rig. Until then, I bought a direct die frame for my 10850K and will be experimenting with it a bit more.
  17. Picked up the stuff I ordered at Microcenter after work... Place was a zoo. Crosshair X670E Gene Ryzen 7700X Free G.Skill FlareX DDR5 6000cl30 kit
  18. I think it's a cool card and I'm glad to see a 3rd horse in the GPU race. I have no regrets buying it as a spare GPU to tinker with. If I were a low budget gamer looking for max performance per dollar, the 6700xt for the same price makes way more sense. Even after they get a grip on the drivers, this is still never going to to be anything more than a midrange card. I just want to see Intel say "YOLO let's make a 4090 competitor"
  19. Finally got around to playing with this thing. Did the unboxing on the Discord and nobody joined It actually scores higher than my RTX 2080 in Time Spy. I loaded up the new CoD MW2 and let it set the recommended settings. Turned off upscaling and ran the in game benchmark which resulted in 86FPS average at 1080p. Enabled XeSS and it went up to 99FPS. Actually getting into a game it was hovering around 115-125. For comparison that 2080 that gets slapped by the Arc in Time Spy pushes more FPS at a higher resolution (1440p) with a weaker CPU (10850k). So the Arc drivers still have a ways to go. I'm hoping this card will pull the AMD "fine wine" playbook and just get better and better as time goes on. The Arc Control software allows you to monitor and adjust a few things. I haven't tried overclocking it yet but it has sliders for it. Oddly they don't allow you to adjust the fan curve. The fans seem to be on a pretty lax curve and don't ramp up very fast. The fans also have a zero RPM mode when you're just idling on the desktop. Even when they do spin up a bit, they are pretty quiet. What's not quiet is the coil whine my card has. I have more playing around to do but I like the card so far. It seems like it will be a nice card once it's better optimized.
  20. Cold weather really helps. I put down just over double the points I did last month. I just can't justify folding hard when I'm fighting against the AC. 70F outside last month, 30F outside this time. I shut all the vents on this half of the house and just used folding power to stay warm Thanks! Would have been a lot tighter race if you had started folding at the beginning of the comp, and for the correct team.
  21. I've had an A770 for a couple weeks now but still haven't had a chance to use it due to being out of town for work. Finally unboxing it tomorrow and will put it through it's paces.
  22. It's finally cold outside so I'm gonna turn things up a bit. I already won last month so somebody better come catch these hands this time
  23. At my last IT job My boss and I both had clicky boards. This hipster kid that collected manual typewriters started and loved our boards. I sold him my old V60 mini with Blues. So on occasion someone would walk through the hallway and get caught in the crossfire of all three of us hammering away. To be fair, we all had private offices with doors. If anyone else was bothered by it they could shut their door or ask us to shut ours. As far as I know, nobody ever cared. On an open floorplan, I would use a quieter board
  24. You can temporarily tape it on with painters tape that way you don't have to give it a reach around while trying to line the screws up from the front
