  1. true but not my case. 8 years ago i god an external dvd-drive and used it 2x since then… all is asi ally oneline and the biggest problem is a storage now whre i can run backups of any devices … will take a look at icy Dock saw already some addons they do.. thaks for the thougts and info
  2. Ok, now you made me interested….Why do you need a 5.25 today? (Besides hotswap hdd cage)…
  3. yes wight, but my idea is that for relative cheap and some time invested you can build in the cages.. eighter 3D printed adapter (Fan/HDD cage) and stock it up and you get a nice vented NAS which is as well visually appealing Or am i missing here something?
  4. Long story short - my synology 212+ is stilli alive but is not up to date anymore for the tasks i would like to do have/do/test/playwith... So i was looking at some options and decided the best would be to DIY.... More cost efffective, better expansion/upgrade options and i could reuse some older HW which would give me better performance for less money.. Just a upfront infomation, its a project with not an urge and will take some time, but i thought i would be nice to have a thred where i can put my questions and get some advice... Hope you dont mind to share some opinions.. First Question would be Case related... Found a local deal for a used Fractal Design Torrent Compact White TG Clear in a mint condition, for about 66,66 EUR (epic number after conversion - is it a sign? ) It has good airflow, and i like the looks but is it any good for a NAS? were thinking to buy some drive cages and mount them on the botom as there will be anyway no big VGA... Any thoughs? Y/N? pull the triger?
  5. Im not gonna sell them, i will change the ones i have in y case and hope it will be a bit quiter.. Im using now 3x 140 Silent WIngs 3 and 7x Thermalright TL-C12 Pro. Not that im not happy with the combo, but if i can make it better (upgrade it) and got this opportunity it was not possible to resist And i hope that all the fans will be OK, after a first examination of each i could not see any problem or hear anything.. But i have to put them first in the system.....
  6. I got a deal i could not resist: used fans but with the following conditions: 10 x Be Quiet Silent Wings Pro 4 120mm (6 x of them not even opened and used) 3 x Be Quiet Silent Wings Pro 4 140mm ( 2x of them not even opened and used) On the used one no dust, no scratches and the bill is from 02/2023.... All together for 216 EUR (shipping fee included ) Impossible to resist! Or am i just WEAK?
  7. and here is the Answer for a cool laptop and and a cool "LAP" Just a moment... WWW.COOLERMASTER.COM just change the orientation of one fan and you get as well your lap cooled during the summer time and you can store the laptop in it as well... ppl selling it used for nothing lol.... Pros: - cools your laptop - cools your lap - cools your wrists Cons: - burns your wallet....
  8. well it strongly depends on the situation, weather and other multiple conditions, but you could make something like small wind turbines? Stacked like 5 together in a nice place where you are able to create a draught it would be giving you a bit of free electricity Its just a question of time, effort and possibilities / abilities I saw once a Spain guy which was experimenting with this kind of stuff, but he had dry conditions and build a wall of it on the roof.... Cant find it anymore but here is another guy : Just an inspiration
  9. Just my basic 5 cent to the topic: synology nas 2 bay in mirror 2x8tb) satisfied and works great as well as a media centre … as told basic simple kinda lost in the server/plex topics
  10. can you share what you did with the fans? Lets inspire Any good idea should be shared
  11. poor mans AC it is but just not able to place properly the ice behind the fans. But if i would be able then i would turn it in an defrost / AC device 2in1 to be honest it was my first idea/conclusion with the 20 cm fans but after properly cleaning the notebook cooler its working like a charm again. But yeah will work for sure especially if you have a cooler like the cooler master notepal U2 /U3 which i bought today (used on a secondhand shop) and it will be easy to replace the fans there as it is just a bend aluminium and in the end even a crappy fan will cool a notebook better then nothing and for a distance of 1-2 cm you dont need a expensive fan to get the job done...
  12. Just wanted to share Well i still have some stock fans which are just in the box and ofc after some years of "building" computers you gather a fair amount of HW which becomes kind of obsolete but you don't want to throw it away as it works. Trying to sell it is mostly an effort which turns out to be a energy and time burner. So i just thought what to do out of it.... And hey Fans are meant to cool HW - so why it could not cool me? Not having an AC bcs i get mostly a cold from it... And a classic fan has a problem that even on the slowest speed it becomes kind of too much "wind" after a while and annoying (mostly in smaller rooms).... I got 1 desk fan powered by USB - its not bad but not enough when the summer hits my HO/Gamer room which is just 3mx3m ... : So i dusted my old Fan controller: Connected it to a molex extendercable to my PC and some fan extension cables and biuld my first "Drone-like" personal FAN: Now to be honest im rly very positive how it turned out, it does not blows you away but its makes a gentle breeze. An here is a Pros vs Cons summary: Pros: 1, upcycling - not creating unnecessary E-waste 2, It fulfills my expectations way better then expected 3, its not louder then my case 4, the energy consumption is around 12W (don't have a way to separate the measurement just on the Molex and measured it with a watt meter on the whole case - idle turned on and off - difference is the result) 5, its one of its kind 6, - just my personal thing - but i like the ghetto look and anyway i like to watch fans spinning Cons: 1, DIY P.S. - would be here enough brains for a upcycling thread?
  13. well this is the biggest fail .. i could give it back and get the money back.. i decided to mod it, and moded just my pocket in the end
  14. yes exactly the "flaps" are new. but what irritates me is that the R68 module is the same as on the reference card but i suppose its "higher" and blocking the Morpheus flaps... Dont know its simply preventing the cooler to "sit down" to make contact on this side.... here is the reference PCB: Here the XFX PCB: and here the teardown with the XFX cooler and take a look there is a "cutout" for the module in the cooling plate...
  15. So im reporting back... Its as well like in RL - one success and one fail.. Im going to share both of them.... The success is that first i tried just to replace the stock fans, did it a bit Ghetto style as a first prove of concept: and here are the results: stock fan temps and Ghetto mod temps: Difference of 4-6 degrees with the same RPM and way more quiet? Jackpot! Summer can come lol.... Next to the Morpheus - it doesn't fit ... One module is in the way of the IHS of the cooler as its as well cooling the ram modules and 1 specific module R68 is blocking to fit there.... So i thought OK then lets cut of the unnecessary piece of copper with the motto "what doesn't fit, you make fit" but yeah fail... i came to a conclusion to fast, should have take better look at it...its exactly the point where the heat pipes are melted to the plate and i cut in to 2 heat pipes.. so after i can look at it again i will probably cut it in half and make a nice decoration out of it lol.... "Memmento Mori" i just killed a new cooler lol... At least i can confirm the Quality of the cooler and that the plate is pure copper
  16. I’m already up and running… lets see what it will create
  17. thanks for the explanation.. another "Virgin" question : will it be OK if i start the folding 2H sooner as im in EU and wont be until 2 AM.. so my intention is to start the folding before i go sleep and leave it running...
  18. In : Memmento-Mori But pls explain me what i need to change? " Note: Extreme Team Members remember to use a different pass key than your ETF key." ETF KEY?
  19. Just noticed that TR released a new fan: Thermalright TL-S12 FAN TL-S12 – Thermalright WWW.THERMALRIGHT.COM
  20. dont know guys if you remember transport tycoon and rail road tycoon .. this is looking amazing
  21. Well i understand your point, but i paid back in 2017 for my SM8 650usd and 250 for shipping. So in my eyes the 800 usd for a SMA8 in gunmetal is a not that bad price as it bigger and in a wanted colour…. Just my opinion. and once you have a caselabs case you understand what it is about…. Its incomparable with other cases… at least thats my feeling even today…

  23. Hi Guys, looking for some information's, advice, experience about the MORPHEUS 8069. Im tempted to pull the trigger on it with a pair of Phanteks T30... But as it is not cheap (more than 200 EUR) i wanted to throw in the room the following: 1, Compatibility - Classic layout of PCB - as the XFX is not the standard AMD layout it should not be fitting, but as the cooler is mounted just with the 4 screws and the positioning of the wholes look the same it could work? Any thoughts? 2, Back-plate - there is a recommendation to keep the original one but i assume it would be looking like a ship from Star trek Enterprise look. (which could be cool or as well not idk..) But are there any aftermarket back-plates made for the XFX 6900 XT Merc 319 ? 3, Would be the Phanteks T30 the best you can put on it? I watched some reviews and im kind of surprised that there are not more information's about it... I found it just by coincidence as i was wondering if there are any third party air coolers out there and have to say that Raijintek is the only i found... Had one back in the day with my R9 290 and was happy with he performance but it looks that there are not much interest in it.. Thought as well to buy a XFX 7900 cooler from someone who would WC his card, as they changed/improved the vapor chamber of the cooler. But the wholes are not fitting.. Would be interested to see if the "Improvement" improves anything at all in regards to the old design.. So yeah if you have any advice/information/recommendation or experience to share, then please do so.. Looking forward to it. Wish you all a nice day ahead.. BR, MM
  24. And I thought that noctua will be the first with this technology
