FYI i'm down for the count at the moment, my machine won't pass the bios at default settings. I may be able to temp with my W6600 Pro, but for the moment I am not folding.

I mean it is (was) an x58 system, so that's kind of a loaded question 

 

but it had been fine folding for a while, but I've known the system was EOL. I was hoping for a bit more time before I had to start building a new one.

What's your status as far as getting an ETF rig back up? I can run an additional client on either a GTX 750 or HD 7850 for December if needed until you come back online.

Yes I think I can do this since it's already folding anyway.

I should be folding. config is a bit weird, and you may have to delete a single CPU WU from when I started (not deleting WU but hit finish and pause-on-start until I can clear the slot). 

 

I still have to figure out auto-login so folding starts after reboot. the normal method doesn't work, so I'll have to try the regedit method.

Ok good so @BWG cancel putting in my HD 7850.

 

Ugh on a side-note, I'm  probably going to miss some points. I just checked on my client on the APU and it failed WU so I'm going to have to re-tune that OC.

Personally, I love it.

I'm still working on getting audio and HID reliable.  temporarily using the demo version of VirtualHere with a logitech unifying receiver. that seems to work fine. 

 

I'm using my monitor's sound device over DP for stereo sound, but it has glitches. I may try something like PulseAudio, SoundIt, or Icecast. 

 

steam streaming off this worked fine (so there's hope for those methods), but I really want my 3.1 audio vs stereo.

When I was home with my 24/7 folding rig I intended to do a CPU/mobo swap from the ancient FX4300/970A to my old 1600X/X370. Lots of snags though, I failed to realize that I didn't have an AM4 bracket for the cooler I intended to use, I didn't have any available DDR4, and some other small details as well. Worked around everything but the final issue, which is that my remote software just wasn't interested in working after reinstalling Windows. I ran out of time to troubleshoot and had to return to my apartment two hours away. So that PC just isn't running right now. As a result, I'm running on a 2080 Ti that is in my apartment currently. I'm planning on returning home in a week or so to fix that, then we'll be 24/7 again.

 

Anyways, the OP has been updated to reflect Hacksword's entry and my GPU swap as well.

soooo, I think I am going to have to put Linux on this ETF machine. It currently has windows 10 home and it is constantly rebooting for freaking auto-updates. It is driving me nuts. Sorry for the inconsistent points for the time being, but it always seems to think it is a great time to reboot while I am at work. There may be a day later this week where I am down for a few hours while I install Ubuntu or a similar distro. Would you like to coordinate a substitute for the down time, or do you guys think it will be fine? Let me know

Personally, I'm not too concerned with that much downtime for this month. I'm already having a pretty mediocre month since my actual folding rig isn't up, so that PC will be getting some downtime as I use it for other stuff occasionally. But, if it's convenient to swap for that intermediate period, I certainly wouldn't stop you.
