Prices still crazy

Out and about today, stopped in my local bestbuy today as I usually do from time to time and... had a 10700k and a few 1050s in stock as well.

I think 2022/23 will be when lower end GPU's start to decrease, but the high end GPU's will just keep climbing as usual.

That's not going to happen. Remember the HDD shortage after that flood quite a few years back? They made back more than enough HDDs to make up for that loss but HDD prices were still through the roof 5 years later. The same is going to happen with GPUs but worse because there's an actual shortage right now and has been for a while. I expect normal prices in 2025 at the absolute earliest.

That is true, forgot about that one. Yeah could be a good while then. Fortunately I have no plans to upgrade for a fair while. Just not worth it, well not every generation for sure but especially with the hyped prices of everything. Not cool.

That's brutal. That's more than the going rate for a used 1080, which is unfortunately looking like my most realistic GPU upgrade for the next couple of years. Maybe I'll swing for a 1080 Ti.

 

Really kicking myself now for not getting a $500 2080 Ti when the bottom fell out right after the RTX 30 series debut.

yeah ill happily hold onto my 5700XT. it does absolutely fine at 1440P high for what i play.

 

as far as prices go, i walked into my local pc shop (in canada) the other day, the price tag on a 6700XT was $1100. i just kinda chuckled at the guy behind the counter.
