Playing around with the 10900x, that thing is not easy to cool and I need to do a lot more tuning before this will work on other benchmarks.
I managed to run GB3 too, but the memory isn't much on that thing as it wasn't meant for benchmarking when I bought this stuff.

6804.1 multi and 594.6 single, 7398.7 total @5ghz all core
(and I messed up the screenshot, 2x mem tab instead of 1x mem and 1x mainboard 😞 )

Huh, never heard of a 10900X, was that a highly binned 10900k?

That is an X299 LGA 2066 HEDT processor. https://ark.intel.com/content/www/us/en/ark/products/198019/intel-core-i910900x-xseries-processor-19-25m-cache-3-70-ghz.html

Correct, this chip in combination with the motherboard is great for a F@H farm because of the PCIE lanes.

It's really expensive stuff, the main reason I bought this was to fold with more GPU's in a single system increasing the efficiency instead of having 3 systems online all the time. By now the power is so expensive that I have one GPU online, and I'm thinking about taking that one offline too (€0.51 per kWh).

The CPU runs very hot, making it hard to get a decent OC to work. 5ghz was for fun, but running this for anything besides an easy benchmark will shoot the temps up to at least 85°C if not higher.

Are you running liquid metal in this rig? That would definitely shave 5-10 degrees off peak temps. Though, you have to be careful with it, liquid metal is hard to work with and you can easily damage that killer motherboard you have. I usually wrap everything but the CPU, making it a little easier to not mess up.

He's fully capable. He lapped that CPU, but it does not have a delid tool. LM on top of the stock IHS won't bring down the temps enough to warrant corroding a CPU WB. Even though it would still function 100% thermally, it's a PITA to clean/sand when you are done with it.

Yeah I don't doubt that. I was just so impressed when I switched to liquid metal so I always mention it. Asus board is absolutely sick.

I wish I could delid it, but by just looking at the IHS it seems like it's glued in place in such a way I would damage the chip before getting the IHS off.
As far as LM goes, I've done a few chips. Not as much as a few other members, but I wouldn't be afraid of that part of the 'mod'.

The board is art, there are a few things that should have been different but I know why they did it (6pin in the middle of the board for example) but it's so cool.
And the weight is crazy, I've never felt a board being this heavy without all those full cover heatsinks like some 'gaming' or 'overclocking' boards have, just filled with components.

It needs to be delidded and run bare die with a der8auer die frame. I used to bench my 7960X (16C/32T) at 5.3GHz all core and my 7980XE (18C/36T) at 5.2GHz all core in my X299 Dark mobo. Both CPUs used to pull over 1,000W in Cinebench. It was too stinking awesome for words. That was one of several reasons I found owning a 5950X to be such a massive disappointment.  I expected the same, but it was not capable of coming close to that, even with chilled water cooling.

...I dunno, I kind of like the 5950X, after using Intel HEDT for years (which have their own charms, of course).

5950X at ~ 240 W for CinebenchR23 (water-cooled, ambient temps). I could try to go higher, but not in July 🙃

It's a good chip - CCX1 can get to 4.925 (8c/16t), CCX2  can get to 4850 (8c/16t) max, but the above was 'only' 4750 (16c/32t) because ambient was 25C. Best single core can get to ~ 5060 effective / 5125 nominal.

Not really. Haven't had much of that sort of free time the past couple of weeks. Have an Aquacomputer Octo I still need to install too.

I'm not sure if I want to go that far with this chip, the only reason I installed it is that I wanted to have some fun with the hardware as it was sitting in a box.

Ambient kills the fun over here too, 10°C or less works way better while overclocking 😄

10 C ambient would be nice indeed...I might even scratch 33K in CineR23 w/ 10 C and full-tilt OC. As you know, I love benching, but even at 25 C and daily 24/7 trim, I get CineR23 at 31.5k w/o breaking a sweat. The oversized loop is near-silent and doesn't heatsoak even after hours of FS2020 (below near 'Rivers' Inlet' up the coast) and CyberP2077 on 4K max everything.  I don't know how tempted I will be with the next-gen AMD and/or Intel CPUs, and next-gen GPUs (4090 Ti with 18432 Cores, 192 ROPS 🤪) but for now...

You know, one of these days I'm going to fire up my K6, and all low speed records will be lost. 😛

Asus used to make an adapter to run 479 CPUs in 478, I wanted one back in the day. You could usually get 2.5 or so out of them and they pooped on higher clocked P4s.

My MX-5 arrives today.......do I dare see if I can get a CPUz bench on Windows 98?  I'm not sure if it'll run, and I'd be kinda going out of order on these rigs I'm working on...... :lachen:

Once I get in gear tonight working on things, I'll see if I can do just that, and I'll do a quick K6 run.  If not, I wanted to test my Socket A builds anyway.  Wouldn't be hard to put XP on one of those.
