AMD Radeon 6000 refresh 3DMark Scores leaked

Recommended Posts

Quote

3DMark results for AMD Radeon RX 6950 XT, 6750 XT, and 6650 XT are now available. Wccftech already released the complete specs of this RX 6000 update.

I'm sure Ray tracing performance will tell a different story. Nice to see AMD keeping the pressure on though.

Yeah agreed on that front. I think this is part of the reason rumors have Nvidia going so power hungry next gen to squeeze out as much performance as possible.

That said, if they do end up releasing these refreshes, I wonder if they will be price point replacements of old parts or like the 3090 Ti, will be even more expensive.

I think it's a bit of both. The 6750 is a replacement for the RX 6800 because AMD thinks the RX 6800 has too much ram compared to how powerful the GPU is so they're not planning to make it anymore if I understand correctly but then cards like the 6950 will just be more expensive without replacing anything.

On the Nvidia front, we just have rumors to go off of but if I had to guess, I'd say it sounds like AMD is going to be putting immense pressure on Nvidia this next round. Over the last few years we've seen AMD really mature and go from being always a good ways behind to being basically on par. If they're trajectory keeps up, this would be the gen that they could actually be on top.
I don't think AMD has any issues increasing raster performance right now at all, so really all they've needed to do is find a way to catch up with next gen RT expectations and with how well they've been doing on all fronts lately, it seems likely they will have something impressive to show.

Nvidia sounds like they're making last minute changes to a die shrink to keep up with pressure from AMD while AMD already had a lot of headroom for improvements in 7nm and lots of time to sit back and iterate on their design.

The question is does Nvidia have some hardware innovations they were just taking their sweet time on cause they didn't need to.  Selfishly I hope so because I want more powerful and more efficient designs lol.  I do like the competition though and easily would have gotten a 6800 but the 3080 queue popped up first.

I just ran the non-optimized / quick-and-dirty TimeSpy with my 6900XT (and older 3950X CPU) after a request at a different thread. My 6900XT had some MPT tool 'enhancements' yesterday...6950XT have 10% or so more PL (MPT can do that) but mostly are the same, other than the increased VRAM speed past 2150 MHz which I'm jelly off as that is the only hurdle I can't cross no matter what tools I use...

We're now only days away from the planned release date for AMD's refreshed RDNA 2 graphics cards, and...

Sounds like the prices will be very reasonable.

...and so they $hould be. Still, this 'refresh' is like the recent 3090 Ti release - IMO, just a money grab before the real action starts w/ RDNA3 and RTX4k later this year.

Honestly why I was hoping they would just price point replace their corresponding models. $100 more for a 6950XT over the 6900XT for what that article claims is a 4% improvement is dumb.

...judging by the offerings of major retailers over the last two months or so, there was plenty of top-end RDNA 6x00XT stock available, presumably also because good yields at TSMC...all vendors have to do to get to the 6x50XT versions is change microcode / bios for more PL and VRAM speed and voila, a '''new''' model for more dollar$ 🤑

Micro Center here has basically had full stock of AMD cards for months. Nvidia cards maybe the past few weeks. Definitely a mindshare thing going on there.

That said, the prices have only recently come down for both at MC. The AMD cards were like $1400+ for a 6900XT for a long time.
