Nice.  This is always good to know, im not in the market right now but I tend to spread the word to others in my circle who are up for more storage when there is a price drop.

Hopefully it will bring more larger capacity options. My steam library is getting too big. I could use a nice 4TB or 8TB M.2.

Put me down for a 2TB NVME, Gen4 hopefully, and a pair of 4TB 2.5's, or whatever other cheap(er) way I can accomplish 8TB for a secondary drive for games.  Kthxbai!  

 

Been waiting on SSD's for my main rig since I built it.  I dunno if I can wait too much longer.....I'll end up with a whole nother build before too long.  Got 2x 256GB NVME's in it now, and that's just not enough for actual gaming these days.  Works great for general usage though, and the couple games I have on the SSD's at least.

I've got 5TB of SSD right now - 2 gen 3 2TB nvme and a 1TB sata. I would really like to get at least another 4TB sata and in the future if direct storage takes of, maybe upgrade to gen 4 nvme - but that's a long ways off.

Not so long ago, I still had some main systems running with spinning HDDs  ...but with the 'Ravens Nest' builds and its multiple work-play machines, a total of 12TB is now SSD...4x M.2 drives with a total of 4TB are gen4 NVME, 1TB is gen3 NVME M.2, and 7TB is WD Blue 1TB M.2 or SSDs. The only time I can tell the difference between the gen 3 and gen 4 NVMes is during game loading time, but even that is not dramatic, yet gen 4 is twice as fast in the related synthetic benches. The biggest performance step was to go from spinner HDDs to SSD, IMO, for daily stuff. 

 

For now, the Ravens Nest systems are more than plenty, and I have a tough time getting excited about next-gen Intel and AMD, PCIe 5 drives etc. Don't get me wrong, they have some great tech and specs but the performance increase of next gen CPU, DDR5 and PCIe 5 drives over the current setups will be hard to justify re. both work and play. Direct storage adoption also factors in at some point so I might take a look early next year what the next work-play builds should look like. A 4090 / Ti or 7900XTX would fit nicely as an upgrade for the existing 'base', rather than redoing everything, though the current 6900XT and 3090 aren't exactly slouches. Late winter / early spring is my target date to consider upgrading, though one never knows when what deal comes knocking...
