So if Microcenter ever has these in stock, what is the best card out of these three:

Gigabyte Gaming OC

Get it now! The WINDFORCE cooling system features three 110mm unique blade fans, alternate spinning, 10...

MSI Gaming Trio:

Get it now! Play with style! GAMING is upgraded with TRI FROZR 3 to sustain intense performance during gaming...

Zotac AMP

Get it now! "Love Gaming with the all-new ZOTAC GAMING GeForce graphics cards based on the NVIDIA Ada...

Galax is not available nor do I think my power supply would be able to power the two 12VNP whatever stupid new connectors on the card. I will have to use one of the included 8-pin to 12-pin blah blah blah to even power these cards and hope it works.

Thoughts? I'm leaning towards Gigabyte myself. Also, how long is the warranty and how is the RMA process/quality for each of these brands. I've only used Evga and Sapphire in the past.

I believe the MSI card does only 3 (lol) 8-pins to 16-pin 12VHPWR while the others are 4. So from an enthusiast perspective probably better with the Gigabyte or Zotac if you are planning to overclock and play with power. @J7SC_Orion has that Gigabyte I believe.

As far as warranty, not sure, I've not owned any of these brand GPUs before for an extended period of time. I've heard hit and miss things with each of them over the years, but I couldn't really tell you anything definitively.

All I can comment on is I avoid Gigabyte since the 2080Ti whereby the weight of the card caused it to flex and the fans would bind in some form unless the card was really supported. That being said, they may have overcome the issue.

I would focus on seeing if the power delivery system is better on any one of these models as it will aid in Overclocking should that be something you look at. Check out the reviews for each GPU as they will likely comment on the power system.

Are you using stock cooling or putting under WC ?

If using stock cooler, I would opt for one with the largest cooler (if you can fit it) as these boys will get toasty.

I'm avoiding Gigabyte from now on due to horrible RMA experiences with them. I haven't owned anything MSI since 775 and I haven't owned anything Zotac since the GTX 500 series so idk for them.

Zotac has a marginally higher power limit (+15W) than the MSI. If you're going run them on HWBOT it might be worth an extra $50 but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The Zotac also has a larger, 3 slot cooler though the mounting bracket is only 2 slot.

Thanks for the warning about Gigabyte and thanks for the power limit heads up since yes, card will be benched for the bot.

Thanks for your input too @ENTERPRISE

I'm totally confused about the connector and adapter issue now. I thought you clarified for me in another topic that the connector on the card is 12 pin and you plug 1x 8 pin PCI-E into it, with an extra 4 pins on the adapter being unused.

Is the "12VHPWR" actually 16 pin and I plug two 8 pin PCI-E into the adapter then in to the card? Good god I don't see the effing point of this new connector, I love my current PSU and don't want to have to put in a new one. This is the wiring on the backside of my rig and we'd have to rip it all apart:

My card is water-cooled, so @ENTERPRISE's comment on fans won't be an issue. FYI, all told in my home-office / work and play, I have a Gigabyte mobo, and six GPUs of theirs and never had to do an RMA, so I don't really know how that would be like...my previous and only RMA experiences with Asus and MSI (one claim each) were excellent.

...the best PCB (IMO) for the 4090 is the MSI SuprimX / & AIO version...there's also the extremely expensive Asu Strix and the unobtanium Galax Hof, but if you want to go for Asus, I would get the TUF / OC and flash another vbios on it (ie Strix, Galax Hof)....all told, avoid cards that don't have 2x vbios and less than 20+4 VRM.

Alright thanks for your input, I might go with Gigabyte then ,(if these things are ever even available getting pissed off waiting for no stock,), 4 year warranty is pretty great too.

Still need Sir Beregond to straighten me out on exactly what the 12V8HWR1337 hemi connector actually is though 🤣

...I got mine locally at the equivalent of US$ 1,619, but since then they were sold out all over Canada at various online/ local outlet chains. In fact, there is some minor / scant evidence that at least the initial batch of Gigabyte Gaming OCs could have started life as Aorus Master (due to the old RTX3K inventory at that time). I don't know about the latest batch (supposedly, there's a drop of new shipments of various 4090s hitting the stores in the US at least).

...I would make a quick list with 'most desired' on top of the list and 'definitely avoid' at the bottom of the list. However, 4090s tend to be tightly grouped re. OC and even if you can oc to the ying-yang (my card does over 3210 MHz), the gain in fps is minor - the  4090 stock performance is that good. One thing to remember - especially if you don't go for AIO or custom water-blocks - is that these things are HUGE and don't easily fit into many cases, even bigger cases...just check the available space in your case versus the measurements of your desired cards (per list) online.

...the card will come with a 3x or 4x-into-1 PCIe 8 pin dongle that on the card side has the 12VHPR connector, on the other end the PCIe-s. I ended up using a custom 'single' cable from CableMod, but the dongle I initially used also worked fine, unsightly as it is. Just make sure that there are no horizontal bends and that the connector is pushed in all the way - no GAPs !

Two? No you plug in three or four (depending on card model) 8-pin PCIe into the adapter which converts that to the single 16-pin 12VHPWR. Overclocking, you can literally push 600W+ with these things. If you don't have 4 dedicated 8-pin PCIe cables available from your PSU, may need to upgrade as I don't think running two daisy chained PCIe cables is a good idea (the ones that are two 8-pins on a single cable).

Definitely also make sure it is plugged in all the way and try to avoid hard bends if possible.

I've currently got four psu vga connectors plugged into my Strix 4090 on my bench, which is powered by an EVGA 1600 T2;

What was said about making sure the 12V8HWR1337 hemi connector is fully plugged in is critical if you'd like to avoid burning down the house;

Lastly, make sure your muffler bearings are fully lubricated before engaging the turbo encabulator;  it's way too easy to lose all the teeth on your primary drive sprocket.

Alright thanks everyone. Now I finally understand the dongle/adapter situation. I think length should be no problem, see pics of my rig.

What may be an issue is that my psu has the mentioned daisy chained 8-pin connectors; 2x 8 pin on one cable. However, its a Seasonic unit and run multiple GPU setups using those with no issues, even with 2x 290 and an FX-8350 pulling 950w+. So I'll chance it and I think both cables are on seperate rails as well.

Will be sure to plug stuff in all the way as well- no gaps.

That's assuming I can get my hands on one; Microcenter is close but like 1 1/2-2 hrs on the Chicago freeways. I don't know if I'll have to reserve one or be able to, or just drive there and hope they don't sell out by the time we arrive.

That's assuming I can get my hands on one; Microcenter is close but like 1 1/2-2 hrs on the Chicago freeways. I don't know if I'll have to reserve one or be able to, or just drive there and hope they don't sell out by the time we arrive.

As per above, there is supposed to be a restocking of 4090s going on, but the demand is strong, so I would reserve one you pre-selected by phone / credit card with a trusted retaiIer. As to 12VHPWR, the cables have sense pins and wires which determine whether the limit is 450W or 600W...there are 2x PCIe 8 pin to 12VHPWR cables available (including from Seasonic) which can hit 600W, but the PCIe plug right into the PSU...those cables will have '600W' stamped on them and use the beefy wire-gauge (!).

Using a custom vbios, I can get close to 700W but the heavy-gauge CableMod custom cable is made for the Seasonic Platinum PX1300W and plugs into 4x PCIe 8 pin at the PSU end. The CableMod is the one at the right in the pic below.

Gigabyte show 4 years warantly on their website for that gpu.  No idea about the Phase Setup.  Never really liked gigabyte but the one i had just ran without any issue 7950 windforce.

Msi well with my short experience with a z97 and my z690 motherboard and one rma i can says i always prefered them but this gpu seem to be just a normal one without any special feature.

The Zotac seem to be the better specced one. Website says that AIRO card got 24+4 Phase count
