well, bclk 100+ doesnt count for valid CPUZ screen the best it can boot right now is DDR5-10000 with these 2024 Hynix M-die modules. amazing to me as i never really had over 9000 before 😛

Hmm, I had to go check my submissions on my hwbot page and found out I have *not* run this bench on my 7900x3D setup. Will add to the list of things to do. (I really need to clean my rig and desk up) I did it with my 5900x but not the new chip. Too bad that bench doesn't give globals.

now testing a 64gb dual rank kit on 7800X3D, really nice its Hynix A-die its perfect for a 1:1 setup. Now at 6600 with 2200 fclk , 6800 also works with supertight timings C26 and stuff like that!

ive tried some 1:2 overclocking but havent been able to go much beyond 7200. I think its because of dual rank or maybe the mobo. But really good stuff it does the same low timings as single rank!

I still have no clue what I'm doing with mine.  🤣

So far, here's what I've done with my 7900x system:

PBO enabled +200MHz
Undervolted -0.90v
1.40v VDDQ / VDD (whatever the 2 RAM voltage settings are)
1.25v SoC
Scaler set to 8x
RAM @ 64x multiplier (stock was 60x)
Timings set manually to XMP (slightly tighter now)

2100 IF Clock
UCLK = MemClock enabled (I think I got the terminology right?)

No clue what any of these new ratios and stuff means you guys are talking about.  Don't know if I'm doing it right or not.  But the system's noticeably faster than my tuned 5800x system.

If one was to decide to step up into a 48GB kit for a 7900x later on, what ARE the proper tweaks to be doing on this platform?  Do you want fast RAM?  Shouldn't IF Clock be 1:1?  What is a UCLK?  Ugh, I was hoping this platform was going to be similar to AM4. -_-

Already pretty good tune , if you have a Zentimings screenshot? For 1:1 mode your 6400 setup with 2100 fclk isnt ideal, you want the fclk to be in sync with the uclk and memclk, for example: 3000:2000:3000 (DDR5-6000 with 2000fclk) then 3100:2067:3100 ,  3200:2133:3200 , 3300:2200:3300 . DDR is double data rate, so the 3200:2133:3200 combo will be DDR5-6400 with 2133 fclk. in 1:3:1 sync

Good advice...sometimes, the synthetic Aida cache and memory benchmark reacts positively to an 'out of synch' higher fclk but in actual applications and most other benches, out of synch gets worse - or at least leaves some potential scores on the table.

DDR4 fallback...upgraded the CH8H-W 'beast of burden' to light dev and sql server duty...installed latest bios (4702) and then mounted 128 GB GSkill Ripjaws 3600. Glad to say it was relatively painless. Currently on stock timings and voltages - may do a bit fine tuning but this is a sql development server now, so no crazy stuff (that's reserved for my 7959X3D / DDR5 8200 (8400)

7960x is going on the bench this weekend to get it dialed in and prepped to swap into my daily system.

Looks like there is a fair bit of info in this thread regarding DDR5 tuning. This will be the first AMD DDR5 system that I've tuned, so we'll see how it goes with 192GB of DDR5 RDIMMs.

...looking forward to your R-DDR5 4-channel  results....Asus Sage mobo ? R-DIMM rated speed ? I have seen a few folks at another forum with 7960X and 7980X on the Asus mobo w/overclocking, including R-DDR5 to 7200. I am on the fence for a mew work-play system re. 79xx TR, or wait for the 99xx TR (Zen5 cores). This time, the socket should remain the same, so they say...

Motherboard is an ASRock TRX50 WS. ASUS Threadripper X399 and sTRX40 boards were not good, with missing features, bad RAM support, poor ECC support, and lots of random bugs.  Meanwhile, my 3 ASRock boards have been excellent, and that includes top notch support from ASRock.  I haven't followed along on the TRX50 Sage, but the WRX90 Sage looks to be a bit of a dumpster fire.

RAM is DDR5-5600 that I'll be pushing as high as it can reliably go.

The per core performance upgrade from my 3960x is pretty huge. Even if it only lasts a single generation, I'd be pissed at getting burnt again, but I'd still be sitting pretty good for the next few years.

I hear good things about the current Asus Sage TRX 50 4-channel also re. R-DIMM DDR5 oc - unlike the WRX 90 8-channel which probably needed more dev and bios tuning time before its release. BTW, I still run my old X399 MSI Creation (below) with a TR 2950X and 8 dimms now and 3 GPUs (3090, 2x 2080 Ti). That MSI board was (is) great but the 2950X is getting a bit dated, especially when compared to my Aorus 670E Master / 7950X3D / DDR5 8200 setup.
