Forgot that was this weekend... Looks at the pile of GPUs sitting on my desk that I pulled for a review I'm working on... Guess it's time to shuffle some stuff around and get a few cards online instead

Let's do this!  Weather looks clear here, so hopefully stable utility power.  4 desktops running.

I have my main rig up and crunching, but with some limits set to keep the heat in check. Ryzen 5950X folding on 24 of 32 logical cores and in ECO mode. RX 6900XT at about 100-120w. Would be better if I just used all the watts for the GPU but I want to give some of those CPU-only work units some love.

Definitely gonna try GPU folding for the next EHW challenges.  I've been getting FOMO this whole time.  I'm trying to find a good, reliable source for an Nvidia RTX A2000 since it uses 75 Watt bus power and doesn't need aux power, which this Dell OptiPlex PSU doesn't have.

Every bit helps, but yes, CPU folding relevance died off quite awhile ago. A2000's aren't cheap, you sure you don't want to invest in a newer PSU and more reasonable GPU?

is it SFF? ill have to find a LP bracket if so, but I have a Aliexpress LP 1050TI that you can have. no power connector and it does 3-500k a day

This one's a Dell OptiPlex 3050 Minitower chassis (clearance special on DellRefurbished.com) so full height cards accepted.  And whoa, even a 1050Ti might be a good workhorse/space heater.  I can PayPal a few bones for the cheapest shipping or whatever.

CPU is i5-7500 (Kaby Lake) @ 3.4 GHz base clock.  4 core/4 thread.  Decent space heater.  It's my budget gaming PC build for when I get a GPU... Should be fine for old games, Minecraft, Valorant (ugh... their Vanguard anti-cheat rootkit is creepy and that's why I have all gaming on a separate PC).

I wonder if anyone here's got a nice rackmount server full of GPUs for Folding@home.  If I had a spare $10-15k to blow and a separate household circuit, I'd build a beast of a rig.  Kind of wanna get a 220Volt setup in the future house instead of dealing with 120 Volt 15 Amp or 20 Amp circuits for the "data center" / home lab.

While folding highest I’ve seen so far is roughly 1800W

Yea the heat definitely puts a damper on things. I did follow your lead and implemented some power limiting to keep the heat down. Only ran one of the 3090s and had it at 50% most of the time. It retains about 2/3 of the PPD even using half the power. 

 

I saw things were pretty close, so I did turn it up towards the end to beat @neurotix and just barely managed to hold the lead. Looks like we had a couple other close battles this month as well.  

 

Overall not a bad turnout for a summer Foldathon, I'll be looking forward to the next one!

Don't you have a 3060Ti still you could be running too?  You probably could've held the lead and beaten Flux had you had all your gear running I bet.
