Prime example of getting nothing from VS. The fact they take any "membership" at all is disgusting. They offer nothing...other than no ads. However they still harvest the hell out of you even if ads are not displaying.

Premium Platinum - Lifetime

The amount of scripts and trackers that site runs is baffling. I use NoScript in Firefox on Windows and Linux and they have like 25 scripts and trackers. This site has 6 things and only what's needed for the site to function. I hope that it stays that way.

If I were to log in to my OCN, I was only allowing the site and its host. But I have no reason to log in there anymore anyway because this site is so great.

I would at least attempt to dispute that with PayPal, but the likelihood of it working out probably isn't that great. I have no idea what the payment method options are to a VS forum nor am I curious enough to find out, but for a scumbag organization like that (assuming they had ever provided a valuable service worth paying for instead of the scam or ripoff it is), the only option is to pay by credit card so you can keep the chargeback option on standby.

@Memmento Mori

If they're collecting those automatic $5 monthly payments via Paypal and you haven't disabled those automatic payments yet, you can disable those automatic payments via your Paypal account. Let us know if you need to know how to do that.

OTOH, if they're collecting those payments via a credit or debit card, contact the card vendor and tell them to stop paying those payments. If this is the case, me, I'd be requesting a new card.

While you're at it (whether a Paypal acct or a credit card acct), see if you can get at least some of those payments back.

Trust me, we will always have the minimum possible with respects to that. Always been one of my goals to keep privacy as much as possible, while keeping the site viable. There is a steady balance to be struck, but VerticalScope are all about the money, hence why their scales are tipping toward greed.

Thank you for your concerns and advices. I canceled the payments yesterday already, but what im mad at is that they put my account to free version even i was paying for it. How come? Based on what? Who made the decission? If you want my money work for it the same i have to do… if you switch my account then let me know about it bcs it was not my decission… Anyway im done with them.. no penny goes this direction anymore..

my point was just to chceck your subscription guys, if you are paying and not gettin anything for it… would be waste of money you can spend in a better way…😉

My issue is the opposite, I won a premium account in a BOINC comp probably 10 years ago and it's still on my account there...

I'm guessing it wasn't supposed to be permanent but who knows

Their new one called "Plus" is different from the "Premium" that you have. I still have the same tag as well from a F@H competition years ago. They essentially grandfathered anyone who had a premium account in and left it alone.

Not entirely.  When they removed the OC email addresses, I was officially kicked out of OCN at that point.  After years of actual work given to them for free too.  Yes I'm still bitter about that, they still have a decently popular marketplace there.  🤣

I feel for you, but see it slightly differently. By that, I mean OCN was no longer OCN from a certain point in time in VD's (Vertical Dope's) ownership. VD could care less about who subscribes to what in its forums and is only interested in profit.

How I feel about VD now...
