New Headset Recommendations

Hey all, 

 

So yesterday evening my trusty Creative SX-FI Theatre headset has died, so it is time to shop for something new. Generally I am open to any recommendations but on this occasion I would love some options that have interchangeable batteries, just for the sake of the longevity of the product.

 

I have looked at following so far: 

 

ARCTIS NOVA PRO WIRELESS FOR XBOX & PC

Turtle Beach Stealth Pro Headset

Corsair HS80 Wireless (Batteries can be changes out by user with disassembly)

 

 

Both seems to have a decent feature set and generally what I am looking for and have the interchangeable batteries. 

 

The headset options are fairly endless and while I can read reviews, it would be nice to get some suggestions from you guys:) Cost, well of course I would rather not spend a fortune, but if the product is right, then it is what it is and I will pop some cash aside for it and use an old pair in the meantime.

You can't go wrong with Steel Series. I have this headset and I have no complaints at all.

That is an option but I do prefer an all in one solution and tend to prefer headsets for that reason.

Doesn't look bad, I think I had a set of these before.... second hand mind you but I wasn't sure on the audio, just seemed washed out. Not impossible I was sold a duff pair mind you.

I was suggested a pair of HyperX Orbit S and while not cheap it's the best headset I've used in some time. 

 

Not discounting ... more classic 'n' proper methods.

For headsets, I am pretty happy with my Steel Series wireless (Arctis Nova 7 in my case), but I will agree with @The Pook and say quality headphones and a mic are superior in terms of sound quality, so just depends on what you are looking for out of it. The headset is certainly easier to deal with than headphones and separate mic, but headphones are definitely much better sounding than this Steel Series headset. That said, it seems like wireless is a priority for you, so certainly steers you towards headsets most likely. Quality headphones you'd want to keep a wire in my opinion.

If you're talking about a Bluetooth headset, They just don't work as well for gaming. Some games just won't really work with a Bluetooth headset when trying to use the mic and headphones from a Bluetooth headset at the same time. 

 

I would go the Bluetooth route myself if it were more viable.

Can confirm as well, I had nothing but problems trying to use my bluetooth headset at my PC.  Some games the audio would still go through my speakers, sometimes the voice comms would be the only thing going through the headphones, and some games, things just worked correctly.  It was a mess trying to get it working correctly.

It would be VERY nice if there was a wireless option that just worked right out of the box.

Sorry E, I really don't have much to comment on here except avoid bluetooth "headsets" if you can.  That's just from my own experience though.  YMMV, as usual.

Mines not blue tooth, though has the option.

Certainly looks like a nice pair, battery life isn't great but not necessarily a deal breaker. Will have to look up how serviceable these are.

If battery life is a big factor for you, the battery life on the set I have is exceptional. My battery never really even dies, I'll use it several times before thinking about charging it. I think I've fully drained it once.

Another vote for headphones + BT adapter. Absolutely adore my setup with a BTR5 + SHP9600. Could not be happier, the pairing is both durable and high quality.
