ExtremeHW Site Auction - Bidding Ends Jan 1st

ENTERPRISE

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

Related to the Topic laying out my departure from the site and some of the struggles noted in finding a new owner, I have decided that auctioning the site and its associated assets is the next logical step. Below I will outline the relevant information so that all those that enter a bid, are fully aware of all the facts before doing so.

What is included in the auction

*ExtremeHW Community Forum
*ExtremeHW Review Site
*ExtremeHW Etsy Store
*ExtremeHW Discord
*ExtremeHW Socials (Facebook & X)
*ExtremHW YouTube Channel
*All Artwork Assets (Site Graphics/Social Media & Homepage Exposure Etc)
*All Document Assets
*All Custom Plugin Development
*All Relationships Between ExtremeHW and Vendors
*All Relationships Between ExtremeHW and Developers
*All Service Logins
*All Google Workspace Assets (Gdrive, Email Inboxes Etc)

Minimum monthly cost of running the sites

Dedicated Server Rental - $133.86 (Contractual agreement ends May 2025)
Invision Community Suite - $17 **
Cloudflare - $25
Google Workspace - $47.77
Domain - $2.19 **

Font Awesome Pro - $8.25 **

** Services that are billed annually but broken down monthly for clarity.

For those who are less savvy or disinterested with respects to all things Server and Cloudflare management you can optionally retain the services of my server manager for an additional cost of $75 per month and includes the below.

- General server management including but not limited to, Proactive care, Configurations, Software Updates, Security, Backups, Troubleshooting + More

- Cloudflare management. (Web Access Firewall & Performance Optimization)

This would leave you with managing the community only, which is the route I took to spare my time.

**NOTE** The above costs can be value engineered by the new owner. The above details costs to keep the site online and does not include optional custom development/plugin upgrades. All information pertaining to optional costs will be detailed to the winner.

Current Site Income/Stats

If you wish to discover the sites income/stats please inquire via PM.

Included help and support

I will provide help and support via myself or another with respects to the running of the site if required. Taking on a site can come with questions and I am not going to abandon a new owner and leave them to struggle as this would be unfair. Support will be included but not limited to the below examples.

*Support with gaining familiarity with the ExtremeHW platforms, Invision Community & Wordpress.
*Support with backend management. This would include the integral services required for the running of the site including Server Management, Cloudflare Etc.
*Any questions the new owner may have regarding the sites and related services.

This is not included as part of the auction, but more of a gesture to make a transition as smooth as possible.

How to submit a bid & deadline

Please submit your highest bid to me via PM in US Dollars. If your bid has been beaten, you will be informed so that you can decide if you wish to increase your bid.

The starting bid is set at $1000 (USD).

**NOTE** Bidders will be PRIVATE..

I ask that you only bid if you are SERIOUS about taking on the community and its associated services. Winning bid is final once funds are transferred to the current owner. All sales are final and refunds will not be given under any circumstances.

Bids will be accepted up until January 1st. The highest bidder at that time will be contacted and an announcement made in due course.

Questions

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask via the topic or PM. If I feel the query should be answered privately, I will contact you via PM.

All the best,

E

While there's no way I have the knowledge or the funds to take on the responsibility of the site,I want to say that it's great of you to offer your support to the new owner. That right there shows the difference between this community and the one's just looking to make a buck. I know I and most of the rest of us will try to be understanding of any hiccups that may occur and wish you the best. 🤗

With a view to making it "easier" for someone to take on the site, I am also open to someone taking possession of the site for FREE, as in there would be no purchase price. However, it would be expected of you that you take on the current server hosting costs of the site as below:

Dedicated Server Rental - $133.86 (Contractual agreement ends May 2025)
Invision Community Suite - $17 **
Cloudflare - $25
Google Workspace - $47.77
Domain - $2.19 **

Font Awesome Pro - $8.25 **

You can reduce/remove any of the above other than the Dedicated Server Rental which you would still have to maintain up until May, at which point you can move the site to any hosting you wish.

If you are interested, Please send me a PM  🙂

All the best,

E

If complete closure is a consideration, it doesn't have to be?

Shut down everything but the forums and move that over to ProBoards.com.

Bunch of guys just benching, don't need anything fancy, but I believe this is a way you could all keep the benching together and have a foundation to document farther into the future.

It's just an idea for you guys.

Simple yet effective. And keep everyone together at affordable costs.

This is how Warp9 has functioned for all past, even when we where ClassicPlatforms.

Sincerely hope this helps.

Hope you guys have good holidays.

PM'ed again E (well....on discord).  Sigh, I might not know the first thing about web site running, but turns out I will be needing a website anyway, similar to this one.  Similar freaking name even.  🤣  Sigh, time to research and get out the wallet maybe.

I'm still researching and trying to learn what all this extra crap is that you're paying for, and what all I need to learn to make this happen and be successful.  Definitely don't want to just purchase, and then be stuck with a dead site that I can't do anything with because I'm stupid.  🤣

EDIT:  Nobody hold me to this.  I'll repeat, I don't even really know HTML coding.  But I can't just sit by and let this happen, when I'm going to be needing a site this year anyway that's similar.....and we've ALL already put so much effort in here.  Just yeah.  I'm overwhelmed still and thinking.

The site is already worked must kinks and bugs out. You pay for general maintenance.

The services are meant to be profitable, utilizing You-tube and constant consistent reviewing of hardware. You will contact venders. All of them. From mouse pads to full pre-built gaming rigs. You are up against GN and LTT essentially having the first 99% of all PC gaming viewers....

The idea is to become profitable with this.

For a team, non for profit, all you need is the forums. A group of people can easily just be a benchmarking team. And stick together.

I will digress here. There's not a need to offend anyone, but the site is actually worth more than free. Big man offered to share statics with serious inquire. Like dead serious, this is your new full time job serious.

Hope you guys have a better 2025 and had a good Christmas too!

Question is......

Who wants to see it happen?  I'll buy it right now (assuming price is negotable), if we can just get the OG's to come back and hang out and share what they were doing again.  Keep the hwbot team going, keep the folding stuff going, get the reviews going back up again.  Once profit comes through, maybe offer prizes again.  I don't want to see what we've worked so hard all these years to end.  It might take me a bit of time to figure out everything E was doing, but I'd love nothing more than to see, I don't know 6 months or 1 year ago activity back.  I don't think that's asking much.  I think there's tons of room for improvement here, and I think with the base group of folks that were here.....we can do it.

What's everybody say?  I can't run the site all by myself, put content, post news, etc all by myself afterall.  But I'll do my best to make the changes EHW needs to keep going and TRY my best to drum up more membership as well as new owner.  I honestly do see the value in a place like this, and I don't think it needs much change at all to become more successful.  I have no problem making this my 9-5 if I have help to do so.  🙂

I was thinking about buying this website as I have above-average web development experience, however, time is the problem. If @pio does go through with the purchase, I can offer help.

If you bought and continued the site, happy to still be here and contribute to forum activity as well as to continue reviews if that program stays.

This 100%. I could wrangle up a bunch of the OG's and we can hang out until the site gets back to its old glory.

I see the folding team already jumped ship to TPU.  I could offer some prizes for the first go round to bring some back.  I don't think I could keep that going though, but I can get it going the first time though.

Many went to [H]ardOCP too. I was planning to fold for them in the upcoming contest this month.

Probably something you talk to folks on if you do end up going through with it.
