I totally get Avacado's position being where he is. It's all season and then what a dedicated summer tire? Seems less a reason to carry two sets if he's not racing or something.

Having two sets makes way more sense if you need a dedicated snow tire for winter and then an all season (or as I call them - 3 season) tire for a normal car.

I started doing that in 2018. Been through two sets of snows since then just due to how CO winters can be between snows (dry and sometimes warm). But it definitely prolonged the life of my all seasons. My snows are usually on from November through end of April or early May which is usually the last snow of the year in this area anyway. So I have a pretty even split of time on sets.

Nice thing is having them on their own set of wheels, Discount Tire will just swap em for free.

I'm probably on my last season for the all season set and will need to get a new one next spring. I kinda went cheap last time with some General Altimax RT43's. They were $110/tire in 2018 when i got them. Thinking I'll go back to Michelin as they just feel better but they definitely didn't last as long. I don't need anything crazy as I am driving a Mazda CX-5.

I did not think I was going to understand what the comfort rating is however, first experience is like riding on pillows. The wheel turns so effortlessly. So far, so good.

Just got the rears done on mine today.  I concur, my General G-MAX AS-05's were pretty comfy especially with my tire size of 225/55/17 having plenty of sidewall but these are clearly superior.  Once the front's are swapped it will definitely be a better ride.  That said,  I've got to check the PSI they put in, as they seem to flex quite a bit more on turns which is not what I expected, at all. Grip is more than restored though and that's with less than 50 miles so it will only improve for a bit from here.

Only down side is that the G-MAX tires just looked better on the car compared to these but that doesn't matter when the tire that looks 'worse' (subjectively) performs better anyways.

To follow up, PSI was at 35 which is what I typically run in this car on the rears.  I'll judge the perceived sidewall flex more when I have a matching set up front.  I did a hard launch from a dig and this thing hasn't hooked like this in a long time.  Did a u turn at a speed where the back end normally would break loose and it bit it so much more than expected that I almost slid out of my seat.   For a $20 difference per tire I'm sold... so far.

After exclusively using snow mode for 323.6 miles, I am no longer going to use it. Snow mode reduces throttle response and is supposed to give the car slightly less power, which means less fuel used. Turns out, it doesn't, so back to normal mode.

Let's just say I'm loving these new tires 😉

How it started  and how it went...  All that underglow on that 6th Gen V6 Camaro wasn't saving him and that 370Z (with some exhaust work) is basically a 400-500lb lighter version of my car.    Took a while for the Z to catch but he was catching up as he should be with the weight difference.   I will say Mexico is nice this time of year though.

Brother, you wanna talk questionable life choices... I can talk for hours 😂

As for on topic stuff for the thread... Might actually install something from the mountain of parts I've accumulated tomorrow. UPR catch can on the Mustang and if I'm feeling really frisky the new downpipe... Either way I'll probably wash that and the Miata.

Speaking of mountain of parts that need to go on, I've got 4x wheel bearings and two loaded lower control arms yet to go on the lexus. Still need to get myself a stronger impact as the one I've got is pretty wimpy so it's not 100% laziness holding me back lol.

Need to order at least a new driver's side strut very soon too as this one is self destructing quite rapidly.

Posted (edited)

Meanwhile... I got really drunk Friday night so I spent most of Saturday being hungover and didn't work on any of the cars. I did drive both of them to do other errands and still might manage to wash at least one of them today 🤣

Edit*

I washed 1.5 cars.... Moostang got actually washed out in the alley. Mi-otter got the front half washed off. I back it into the garage, so I just washed the front half off since I got some overspray on it with the foam cannon. I'd have washed the whole car but the top and windows were down and I didn't bring the keys out with me.

You need to cancel your flight and drive the Mustang to ATL. How we supposed to pick up chicks in Stephens beater?

Nah, but I'll drive it down to Asheville and we can pick up your sister/cousin in the backwoods of NC.

Stephens hooptie drives itself so we divert all of our attention to getting rejected by women

Throwback time.

My first bike 1972 Suzuki TS125 Enduro. I've had a handful of bikes since this one and go back and forth about getting another street bike. Honestly think another 2-stroke would make me the happiest. Might have to get a tiny trailer and a 90s RM125 to pull behind the Miata.

and just the tip of my first car. 1976 Dodge Aspen SE coupe. I was the only kid in my high school parking lot with an 8-track player. 🤣 2nd biggest purchase of my life back then was saving up for a sweet Pioneer deck and new speakers for it.

Lend me the keys to ur garage and i'll make sure to get the bike out and about once a week at least 😉

Also if some food goes missing from the fridge I hope that's okay too. Man's gotta eat lol
