I haven't had an ADBlue issue yet, all my issues were with the DPF itself and/or various sensors. All of it was fixed under warranty but I just want it gone.

plus mo power

I started a new job ~month ago and I've got no vacation days so I probably won't have time to put it in for a while. They just had a Black Friday sale and it's been on my shopping list 🙃

I see… and yeah understand… Btw the problems could be caused by driving short distances or just city/traffic jams… Thats killing diesel engines… from time to time you have to “clean tge pipes” with a longer drive …. Anyway i think your more aknowledged then im so… yeah… GL with the project and Congrats to the new job and GL there as well!💪👍🤘

Retired now, but I used to work as a cummins and cat warranty manager at a truck dealership. Emissions were the Achilles heal to diesel engines, mainly caused by the engine never getting hot enough, and long enough. I drove at that time a diesel jetta. I would never own a post emissions diesel without a delete kit installed. Only bad thing is in Canada if they catch you taking out theit emissions junk it is big fines.

Ye, another reason I want to delete. When I bought the car I was driving ~40 miles one way @ 75mph and now I'm driving ~5 miles one way @ <45mph.

I have to intentionally take a long convoluted route home now and again just to get it to start/finish a regen :sozo:

The public transportation in my city is called RTD. Around here the joke is that it stands for "Reason To Drive". I 100% agree with that acronym. 🤣

Too bad most American cities just aren't setup with good layouts and transit. At least for here, it was clear Denver was developed with the car in mind and I suspect that's true for most American cities.

Well at my place is an year ticket for the public transport cost basically 3/4 of a monthly cost for fuel (not speaking about the side cost for the car) and as well takes much more time (almost the twice as with PT) so for  me its not that much difficult to decide.. And i rather pay my mortgage then make the money puff out the exhaust 😛😄 But i know it heavy depends on the city, location, circumstances and so on and so on..

And yes your right - its easier to adjust the car you have then to change it.. and there is always the aspect that with this car you already know what you have, while with a new one you have to find out 😄

Well my 130k mile CX-5 has been throwing a check engine light. For the hell of it, I threw a bottle of Techron in my last tank of gas, and since then the CEL has turned off and back on periodically. So I may just run another bottle of that and see what happens.

Be careful with Techron.  In the only two cars I've used it in it destroyed my catalytic converters.   I was agressive with it on my old '13 Hyundai Accent with a direct injection motor and the cats broke up and clogged.  Used it on my G37 and not even a week later the cats broke up, thankfully didn't clog but they are broken up and rattle now.   Perhaps complete coincidence and bad luck but I've heard similar stories from others.

Side note anyone have experience with HAWK HPS pads?  They went out of stock before I could order them and ended up with Stoptech Sport pads and from what I can find they are better but dust a hell of a lot more.  I'm ok with that though as long as the stopping power is worth it.  Don't even track it but the idiots around here are making braking my #1 priority.

Oh yeah, while i was getting my car looked at, I walked around the industrial estate and I found both a JDM and a USDM.

The USDM has illegal license plates and illegal tyres but I don't think the owner cares.

Although for safety reasons, I personally would care about the tyres. Those are super inappropriate for driving on the roads in winter. Especially when wet.

I have the HP+ pads. They don't really dust at all - my rotors do though lol. The pads do require a bit of warm-up and that can surprise you if you aren't aware about it in low temp conditions.

edit - actually not sure if my rotors are dusting or the pads. I assume the rotors because they're really old and need replacing - but could be the pads too. Either way, I dont think you can go wrong with stoptech, hawk, project mu, or whatnot at this pricepoint. For what it's worth - stoptech got sold to a Chinese company rather recently and is moving their production to China - so expect a drop in quality. It's enough to make me avoid their BBK and I'm going to go with Wilwood or AP Racing instead.

So I meant to reply, but forgot. The MAF is very likely if you have one, MAFs kinda suck in terms of reliability. I'd avoid additives of any kind (except maybe fuel stabilizer if you *have* to use it) because you don't want to have issues like me lol. I don't think it's fuel additive, but something definitely slowly gunked up my entire fuel system so now replacing every, single, piece is a nightmare.

After the MAF - I would pull the plugs to actually check if one bank is running rich or not - as pulling them is most of the effort, replace them (and use a proper tool and torque wrench... you don't want bits of spark plug in places they shouldn't be). After that it might be a precat going if you have an O2 sensor per precat? If you have only a single O2 (ie; no primary/secondary) then it's unlikely.... after that... how does your oil look?
