What we listened to back in the first half of the '70s...

All these years later, I still have the whole thing memorized. I suppose there's something rather frightening about that...

I am, and always will be, a metal head. But, I am developing a taste for lyric-free dark techno. I think the John Wick movies got me hooked on the grind.

This group has some of the most amazing cover art on their YouTube videos. You can spend hours just looking at some of it while listening to the music.

Most colorful group/concert I ever experienced in real time...

(ca., 1975, Philadelphia, on a two week trip  back to the states; the stars came out one by one as a jet above slowly left a trail miles long in its wake )

Most uplifting (ca. 1974, Atlantic City, before I left for Europe):

Santana was up first and it started raining toward the end of their set. You could easily tell we, let alone the entire stadium, were bummed out.

So we sat down against a wall on the walkway below the stadium's seating and lit up a doobie.

Then, not too long after the rain stopped (about 45 minutes or so), CSN&Y started playing, and the mood changed from gloomy to joyful everywhere.  A freaky looking guy walked by us with a rapid gait, bent over and looked at us as he passed, and said "lsd for sale, buzzzzz, buzzzzz, buzzzzz..."

We simply looked up at him in unison and with our Cheshire cat grins from ear to ear, responded with our own "buzzzzz, buzzzzz, buzzzzz..."

There were many, many more.

first song i thoroughly enjoyed during my first true* exposure to an esoteric substance that shall not be named (ESTSNBN); introduced to me by Dick F. while driving together through some isolated back roads in the Pine Barrens on our way to the last Nickel Beer Bar  in NJ:

*note: i tried it in HS, but it had no real effect on me at that time.

Denny Laine

Born: 1944, Birmingham, United Kingdom

Go Now!  was the Moody Blues' first and only hit before Denny Laine was replaced by Justin Haywood back in the mid '60s.

A half dozen or so years after he departed the group, Denny went on to join Paul McCartney to form the band Wings:

These kids are pretty talented. Liliac is a 5-piece Atlanta-based, family Rock/Metal female-fronted band consisting of all siblings’ ages 16-24. The lead singer has a nice set of pipes.
