External enclosure to clone an NVME?

Recommended Posts

I got a new razer blade and I thought it had 2 nvme slots but it only has one.  It has a 512 and I have 1tb id like to clone it to so I can keep the restore and stuff.  Whats the best way to hook it up externally so I can clone it without messing with my desktop.  Hoping its relatively cheap.

should be fine, anything cheaper I found (I only looked on Amazon) is SATA only. $17.94 after the 5% coupon.

you can use EaseUS, they have a free tool to clone. You will need to resize the partition afterward since the replacement NVME is larger than the drive it's replacing but it's a pretty ezpz process.

I also second the use of EaseUS for cloning, simple & fast. I used EaseUS for a good while for cloning, imaging and partition management. Cannot fault them yet.

I was like lets try this easus jumped the gun on buying todo backup when I really wanted the free version of partition manager.  They wouldn't refund me but would switch to the lifetime of partition manager.  Supposedly todo backup will clone and resize the partition so I'm gonna test it and I now have a real backupsoftware for as long as they are in business.  If it doesn't they will refund me the money then I can use the free version.

I wanted to do the same you did when I replaced my NVME in my laptop.
I purchased a Sabrent NVME interface which randomly disconnects whenever it pleases and tried to clone my Lite-On drive to my 2TB 970 EVO+. Little did I know that this would not work. So it took me 5 mintues to reinstall the latest Windows 10 version on the new drive.

Todo backup is a great tool. Good to hear EaseUS are also being flexible too.

I like the interface but I'm running into some issues.  It clones my drive without any issue but I can't figure out how to do it sine the partition I want to extend is not next to the unallocated space.  They told me I could resize using the clone functionality in todo backup but I don't see it.  I reached out to them but they are offline currently.  Back to the interwebs.

I think I ran into that at one point. I think you can drag to re-order the partitions order when in the resize section. I will take a look tomorrow if you still struggle.

I was missing the edit button to rearrange the partitions, I was unable to get it perfect due to the size of the UI but I'm only missing about 4gb of space which isn't a big deal in the long run.  Its just a travel gaming laptop so that 4gb won't make or break me not having a game since I would never go that low anyway.

if it does bother you, you can fix it with Partition Wizard's MiniTool. it doesn't care if they're not adjacent.

ran into the same problem a few years ago, Beagle Box learn't me in the 3rd post :D
