  1. I joined the team too, not that I ever submit anything but why not? It took me 3.72 seconds, finding the team included. Where can I submit that score?
  2. That chart is a bit strange, those numbers were not the same as I saw on my CPU (also, removing one core does not make an exact percentage change like in this case 3.125%). I found a 3950x review that explained a lot about the folding on a 16c/32t CPU, which came pretty close to my 3950x depending on work units. There is also a part 2 and 3 if you are interested, he did fold with a few of those "numbers to avoid" but after giving that a try myself I have had a few errors where I had to delete the core and unit to get it working again. Do you have temperature spikes too, or is it a constant temperature? Under water my 3950x is fine, but I see spikes that are 10°C higher than the max temperature I see when running prime95 until the CPU reaches it's max temp. On air you'll have to find out, might be a bit too hot for comfort.
  3. Haha, I had to figure out a lot of things too after not folding for 9 years
  4. Go to the Advanced Control, Configure, Slots, click on the CPU slot, Edit (bottom right corner), and type in/select the number of Threads you want in the white box that most likely shows '-1' (that means the client controls the number of threads).
  5. Personally I like to keep one core / two threads free for each GPU. You can play around with that to see if a single thread per GPU will limit it's performance, but every checkpoint in a work unit uses a lot more CPU power so a bit of extra headroom is not a bad thing. Besides that it's important that you avoid large prime numbers. 2 3 4 6 8 9 12 16 18 24 and 27 are good numbers, you might get lucky with a few others but some units will stop working. So if you are working with a 16c32t CPU and 5 GPU's I would suggest running 18 or 24 threads depending on the impact on the GPU folding.
  6. To add to this, there is also a lot of difference between memory placement on motherboards. I had a radiator fan interfering with the memory on the Asrock z170 board, after installing an x570 taichi board there was almost 18mm space between the ram and the fan. The heatsinks on the motherboard barely clear the fans, same as the plastic IO cover. Pushpull 420x45mm Alphacool rad with Corsair ML140's is a pretty big chunk, even in a big case like the Fractal Design 7XL.
  7. For someone living around 7 time zones away it is hard to watch it live, sometimes still watching at 5am But I've been watching the livestreams for 12+ years, and gladly those streams improved a lot over the years. It's really unique how much freedom they have, so much diversity and ingenuity between all of them! I also like to watch as much of the build series from the FD teams on YouTube as possible.
  8. Nice update E! Thanks to Corsair for providing the PSU Good to hear the motherboard fits, but it's a big boy so no wonder some things have to be changed so everything fits. What are you going to use to switch on the second PSU, an extension cable with the green and black wired to another 24 pin or one of those devices that plug into a 4pin molex? I'll be using a 360 AIO on the 10900x too, good way to keep it cool and use it as an intake/exhaust at the same time. I'm looking forward to the build thread, more pics!
  9. Thanks I have a few of those Bykski videocard support brackets by the way, but that's not installed because of the hardware changes. A single 3090 is alright for now, maxing out at about 48°C over ambient with 470w powerdraw. Inside the case it's not really needed to supply extra air to the card, the 3 fans on the cooler are pretty big and the heatsink is massive. Both those systems are positive pressure with dustfilters on all the intake fans which I clean once every 2 weeks. I do like that dual fan setup though, I'll keep that one in mind if I ever run into overheating problems! I had a getto mounted exhaust fan on the dual 5700xt setup to suck away the hot air through the slot openings and 2 fans inside to feed the coolers, made a pretty big difference! Something like the CM ATCS 840 box with a fan on it.
  10. I follow most of the F1 teams on IG, so I did see a few of the reveals already. I kinda like watching the highlights and short clips but I only watch a race or 2 each season. Same goes for Nascar and many other types of racing, I follow them on IG but rarely watch a race. I'm more interested in Formula D and some offroad racing, more action
  11. I've done some things like that too, sometimes it's needed to make it work This is the back side of the Main system. Not my cleanest job, but the Define 7XL has a lot of room so it's not needed to run everything really clean. It has been taken apart a few times already, so it started really clean and organized and slowly became messy. The front of "The Office", the little fan is there to support the 3090 I never took the time to hide the third 8pin cable. I've been swapping/adding/removing cards to this system a lot, that's why the other 2 8pin cables are twisted and messy. And the back side, way less room on this Meshify 2 case compared to the 7XL. So the cables are spread out to be able to close the back panel. Again not the cleanest, but I know myself and how easy I can decide to switch out hardware between my systems so I'm not going to clean that up. [edit] And as some of you may notice, I'm a Fractal Design and Corsair fanboy
  12. Well actually, it was the fact that you are working on 7 projects which made me point that out
  13. Thanks guys, onto the next milestone!
  14. Sorry to hear you are back there, I hope you'll feel better soon! I'll see if I can take a few pictures from the active systems today. Good thing you have your headphones and cable with you, that's actually always the first thing I pack if I need to spend the night somewhere else.
  15. RIP 3090's... I really enjoy watching those series, actually most of J2C's vids I see updates over there from my card which @BWG added yesterday. Clicking on the "Furry Folders" under the "Folding team stats" leads me to the OCN folding stats home page, where the "Freshly Waxed" link leads me to @BWG's EHW account Once this competition is a thing I will change hardware though, I don't think a 3090 is fair as long as it's doing this good. It was the easy choice for now though. Congrats on the 500
  16. My brother uses a Logitech G Pro Wireless, it's a bit expensive but he's really satisfied with it. As for lag and connection issues, he's doing pretty good on CoD Warzone with it, winning a few games here and there
  17. You can say what you want about mining, but it makes me happy to see everyone selling old cards with profit to miners @tictoc It's sad to see the production on AMD cards go down bit by bit, I had 2 5700xt's but even a 1660ti outfolds a single 5700xt at 75% powerdraw..
  18. Welcome! I do remember your name from the other side/site
  19. Fingers crossed for you, I hope everything works like it should! (also for the sake of that elderly person...) Exactly my thoughts.
  20. Shameless double post, just reached 3 billion points total for both teams I switched all my clients to 239902 last night so EHW can enjoy the increased production from those new units!
  21. Same for me! I hope there will be a class where the 1660ti fits in, that's one of the cards that could run without heating up the whole house Hey there Sarge, welcome Doing great, what about you?
  22. Thanks Haha yes, I really don't know why we used that big boy. I know he had plans to use a second HD5770 but even with 2 of those 650w would have been more than enough... That is not so bad, right? I like the jet intake on the front For what you had to work with the result is pretty decent! Better than the Folding Rig..
  23. Number 4 out of 7, interesting I like the idea of benching old hardware, have fun!
  24. I've been looking through all my folders, on my phone, my main pc and my backup drive and I've only found one picture from "the ugly side" from all the systems I've build in the past 15 years.. So I'll take some pictures as soon as I've got my case open again, I don't like lifting/moving that thing cause of the weight This is the only one I could find, a build for a friend from 03-2010. CM Centurion 590 / Phenom II X4 965 / HD5770 and an overkill PSU (xfire plans, never happened) And one from the somewhat better side:
