  1. That looks really, well, real. I have seen similar window shades on 4K TV documentaries on certain types of planes. You really like the 737, don't you ? I don't have that but in terms of the big(ger) planes, I tried the 747, 787 and that Hercules 'Spruce Goose' - but for the sheer instant response and being able to place it exactly where I want it when I want it there, I turn to the smaller fry - such as the Pitts Special 150 ...day break on a cold winter morning above the Squamish Valley ... above the Cypress ski area to the near right, Vancouver at center-left, and some of the Washington State Olympic National Park mountains at the far right Early morning Concrete Canyon run...
  2. ...doesn't pass our moose and grizzly test (...yet). But this is becoming seriously worrisome as this will be used by corporate and political interests to the ying-yang. The best defense would be teaching MAXIMUM analytical skills to our kids, but instead, it seems to be mostly 'multiple-choice' (or ChatGPT essays?). Many of the next generation will become cannon-fodder in the future disinformation > misinformation - 'information' battles.
  3. Good stuff so far ! FYI, I added a graph for (currently only) 8K Optimized / single GPU which is in the second post in this thread and periodically updated. The graph will show top scores for each GPU type. The idea is to show rasterization performance by GPU family and model...'4k Optimized' graph to come soon. FSR2 / DLSS2/3 and so forth are all great technologies, but rasterization performance provides a good and 'equalized' base for comparisons, subject to other system parameters of course, such as CPU, RAM, NVME, cooling etc. Also few more results: J7SC_Orion - 5950X - RTX 4090 - Superposition 8K Optimized score: 17371 (ECC off) - Giga-G-OC w/Galax HoF 667 W vbios J7SC_Orion - 5950X - RTX 3090 - Superposition 8K Optimized score: 8707 (ECC n/a) - Asus Strix w/KingPin 520 W vbios
  4. ...better actually 'safe', and not sorry. Unlikely than any respectable hacker will try AOL IE 5.5
  5. Nice ! I love MPT (used 1.225V for my 6900 run). FYI, apparently, no MPT for AMD 7900 XT/X or any other 3rd special party tool...AMD decided to spoil the party... @Bastiaan_NL @Mr. Fox @Avacado@Sir Beregondand the rest of the HWBot gang...HWBot rules in effect for this, but EEC 'optional' where applicable

  7. I was looking through the benchmark threads and did not see a specific thread for Unigine's Superposition benchmark, so I figured I start one ...in case a thread like this does exist > mods: please let me know. Specifically, this thread is only for Superposition 4K 'Optimal' and 8K 'Optimal' presets, and using HWBot's rules for it. 4K and 8K place less emphasis on the CPU and RAM subsystems (though they still play a role). Submissions should include the general score screen and at least one extra screen with additional information (such as GPUz). Also please include your username, score, system basics and indicate whether it is 4K 'Optimal' or 8K 'Optimal'. Additional system info is welcome --- J7SC_Orion - Score 12,600 - 8K Optimized - TR 2950X + 2x 2080 Ti --- J7SC_Orion - Score 19,421 - 4K Optimized - 3950X + AMD 6900 XT
  8. ...just goes to show you how badly optimized some 3DM code actually is
  9. ...wouldn't be any chance have anything to do with ChatGPT's Bing/ Sydney > here ?
  10. ...I hadn't seen the update. Congrats on the 4090 Christmas present ! I guess it was coals to Newcastle then... But still, I was positively 'shocked' when I forced on resizable_BAR for FS 2020 and picked up an additional 40 fps...the extra driver goodies for the RTX4K sure seem to like that. Something to try out perhaps.
  11. ...having a blast with the Pitts Special 150. Even when restricting the 4090 to ~400 w (out of 675 W max w/Galax vbios) and running a mild oc 200 MHz below known top speed, I still see FPS at 162 and 1% Lows at 143 (or higher) and that is with 4K ultra max everything DLSS3 'Quality' / FI / NVReflex / DX 12. Temps, at 25 C ambient, are also more than acceptable per last screenie.
  12. @neurotix ...I forgot how much 'fun' this thread had become --- but given your original query, now is a good time to follow up. There have been some major shipments of RTX 4090s hitting the stores as of late and while they still move relatively quickly (unlike the 4080s), prices are also reasonable, relatively speaking, at least. I don't know if you already upgraded, but if not, now is not a bad time at all. The second part of your question was re. 'power'. I have yet to encounter a problem with power, even at > 675 W (pls see below). The custom 12 VHPWR is performing flawlessly, as did the original 4-into-1 dongle (just make sure it is fully inserted). I rarely run it at > 600 W, though...the first pic below shows my 'typical' and restricted settings - just a bit over 400 W (fyi 25 C ambient). The second part of the pic below shows 'full oc power everything'. The point though is that even with much more restricted OC and power, I still max my 4K 120 monitor most of the time. The fps and 1 % low readings below are for MSFS 2020 4K ultra-max everything, and even at just over 400 W (well within your power budget from what I remember), it exceeds most anything I can throw at it...162 fps and 1% low at 143 for FS2020. The 4090 has 76.3 billion transistors while my 3090 has 28.3 billion (the 3090 is now in a work + play machine) and it is really no comparison at 4K, even without but especially with DLSS3/FI/NVReflex. Other games and apps are similar.
  13. I wonder what else is in that box under your coffee table ? Can't do it for a whole for a host of good reasons. But you are certainly on your way to 'arctic cold' - and I don't mean in some sort of strange balloon over Alaska / Yukon...
  14. DerBauer put up a very interesting video re. Intel's Hardware Lab and all the really cool toys to test current and future gens...want a new chipset ? Just plug it in.
  15. Apart from more general economic uncertainties affecting demand, I think Intel and AMD may have fallen into their own trap. Pricing definitely plays a role also, especially with the X670E compared to X570/S whereby folks typically have to upgrade to / their DDR5 as well on top of that. Hardware unboxed recently had a nice summary showing that while Intel's 13th gen was outselling Ryzen 7/ AM5 by a bit, Ryzen AM4 was still moving more stock than either. I am still enjoying the Asus Dark Hero / 5950X to the fullest for productivity, and at 4K (where I game exclusively), CPU makes less of a difference, never mind that the 5950X at > 5.1 GHz is no slouch. Then there is the 'GPU factor': My 4090 with its DLSS3/FI/NVReflex transformed the 5950X even in its mots demanding game environments, so for me at least, the 7950X3D upgrade has moved further out courtesy of RTX4K. It will still happen, but no rush - the 5950X/4090 combo already provides more than I need and I can wait for plenty of user feedback about the 7950X3D, Windows scheduler, white lists etc.
  16. ...FYI for all the critics out there, usually, one can disable RGB ...then again, everybody knows RGB makes your PC run faster, just as racing stripes on your bicycle did
  17. ...empty parking lot in Whistler, good for turning ESC off and do some pirouettes in the X5 ... ~5,000 pds really get going once the old pendulum sets in On the way back from Whistler to Vancouver at a pull-out. Bear-proof garbage bins had claw marks on one side
  18. ...I checked some more, and it was a 9800 Pro (like below), AGPx8, Molex side feed etc...I was already very dated when I picked up used; I've since then given it away...it had some fun software, ie. changing the VRAM timings by discreet adjustments and various other ways to get a totally frozen up screen
  19. ...hello again - didn't quite see your follow-up question on 2mg mint Thrive gum. It doesn't burn my throat, but you won't really know until you try it. Walmart Canada carries it here and I'm surprised that it is not available directly in the US. One thing you might want to do is to either check with a Walmart near you or wrote directly to the distributor in Canada and ask for a free sample pack.
  20. ...digging deep in the old pics file...I think that's an AMD 9800 Pro GPU I picked up used for some early benching follies... .... @Bastiaan_NL - you probably like this, HWBot and all. LN2 pot, Phase cooler and a back of a mobo prepped with LET CM Storm Stryker w/ Asus X99w/ 5960X cpu and 2x 980s...a relatively recent rebuild for retro-gaming and file serving, now has a X79 E-WS board (my fav) and a very fast 4960X in it instead...
  21. I don't mind RGB, as long as it does Cherenkov radiation blue ...the problem with current controller software (that by definition acts on low-level hardware) is security, the 'cost' in terms of CPU cycles, and also at times competing controller software. Microsoft Windows has become a big personal data snooping ops anyways, but at least with its new RGB software, one can eliminate various other 'leaks'.
  22. I recognize a lot of it, such as the 56 K US Robotics PCI modem (still have one in storage). That was fast for its day Another trip down memory lane with the CPUID ClockGen applet in the Win XP look...I still think that XP Pro 64 was one of the best OS Microsoft has done - especially compared to that Win 11 monstrosity.. ---- A testbench run with 4960X in an Asus Rampage IV Black Edition, plus R290X Lightning. ...a quick look at a 980 Classified with a universal GPU cooler and retaining the custom cold plate that came with the card. And another testbench, a 5960X in a Rampage V Extreme from early 2015 - had that testbench for about six years; below it is used for a stock-air-cooled 3090 Strix to baseline before water-cooling.
  23. Old hardware is still useful for 95 % of 'regular' daily tasks, apart from high-res gaming. One of the best upgrades is to eliminate spinning HDDs and go for at least SSDs if not NVME > breathes new life into old systems, especially on Win 7 Pro. Mobo below is from the fall of 2015, drives and GPU from late 2018.
  24. Definitely worth keeping an eye on PMDG's 777 release when it comes out. For now, some more low-down sneaking-about action...with the Volocity copter and the Icon A 5
