  1. While it pays to have a healthy sense of doubt with all kinds of rumours flying about on the net that are unsubstantiated, RBC Capital analysts are usually well placed and also careful per their legal department...I would tend to trust those far more than the average self-appointed experts that populate social media. This particular comment by RBC Capital came out after NVidia's official earnings call. It is also a question of GA102 / Samsung yields vs final products in open market channels. Be that as it may, NVidia is a very aggressive company (see the Hardware Unboxed mess) and its planned purchase of ARM faces huge resistance from various sides, including apparently re. some early reads of regulators. Nvidia certainly wants to appear in the best possible light with multi-billion dollar deal regulatory reviews going on and facing stiff opposition. That's why I added that to my post above re. 3080 Ti mining 'blockers' and playing nice. Be that as it may, you have unprecedented demand facing fairly tight supply with top-end Ampere, and that opens the door to all kinds of profit-taking side deals. There are plenty of rumours (and marked as such) that GPU vendors have trucks pulling up outside their factory's loading dock in China, with cards never making it to the regular sales channels but instead go straight to mining farms. Another confirmed Ampere supply issue are secondary sales channels by vendors. An example (note confirmation by MSI itself):
  2. ...well, may be NVidia got the message re. the US Administration Review on tech shortages (CPU and GPU loom big in there). Of course, it's attempted purchase ? of ARM might also mean that it wants to be seen to play nice and 'help'...then again, not so long ago, there was this:
  3. ...I love the XSPC RX 360s (have 7 of them in total, since 2013+). Great quality (copper and brass core), quite 'thick' at 55m core depth, and the 13 fpi give you a fairly wide range of options for fans. When in doubt, those are the 360s I always choose. They have taken a fair bit of abuse over the years w/o a single problem. ...just yesterday, 2x TT Pacific CL480s arrived for a new build - they have an all-copper core and are obviously longer, and also even deeper at 64 mm. There's also a CL 360 version, but I have yet to try any of the CLs in real life. ...Finally, I also use Hardware Labs' BlackIce Nemesis 160 GTX for years...if the 360 version of those is as good, can't go wrong with those either ...or just order up a Watercool MoRa 360 (or 420 ? ) ?
  4. ...yeah, it was a Pink Floyd kind of day...even listened to 'Learning to Fly' (one of my all-time favs) before doing an hour plus with FS2020 ?
  5. ...far less than US $2k, and paid for by business as it is also used for productivity
  6. ...I stumbled across it by accident (good MSRP & no tariff up here) when I went to the store to save some money on fans via Arctic P12 pwm pst value packs... ...right time, right place...the Strix 3090 OC was on my shortlist since last fall, but I didn't register anywhere, and wasn't going to pay scalper prices
  7. ...Starship Enterprise ? needs better water-cooling, no ? ...speaking of cooling, missing just a few parts for the next dual-loop build:
  8. ...and the rabbit hole...inevitably leads to...the full DSotM album...
  9. Noice ! I crawl down the Pink Floyd rabbit hole at least twice a month...
  10. ...the 'Porposie' build with the rejuvenated and modded TT 240 is still humming away with the same temp deltas for idle and load...since the end of July 2020 now, so the rebuild was worth it one way or the other... ...Porpoise has moved though - below shows its temporary home (re. cable '''management''') - building a new dual loop for 3950X / 3090 Strix OC and that affects three other existing w-cooled builds in daily use...going to be a busy month !
  11. ...more parts came in for my dual-loop build ...still missing a couple of items but getting there. I got the new build-itch bad... So far today: - EK Strix 3090 OC GPU block - 2x XSPC D5s - 2x TT Pacific CL 480x64 - 2x Kryonaut thermal ...and also 2x old 160 mm 'thick' Black Ice Nemesis' rads to be rejuvenated...
  12. ...big metro areas have photogrammetry detail ? ...we live in such an area and not only can I see our kitchen window, but also my home-office window I look out from as I m looking in (if that makes any sense...) ...looking forward to that ! I know the area around Paris reasonably well as we have a EU HQ there, should be interesting how much photogrammetry they add for Pairs, Lyon, may be Marseilles...with Covid-19, got to do my French travels 'digitally'
  13. ...or you could just set it to 'unlimited fuel'... ...checking out the new UK scenery updates, starting with London...gorgeous and immersive on a 55 inch tv/monitor
  14. ...izz quad-SLI watercooling loop from many moons ago, stuffing a 'V12' into a moped frame, so to speak...was looking through some old build-pics as I'm getting parts in now for a new dual-loop setup.... ...More recent builds are a bit more rational (below, that has only 4 pumps) - I probably follow that pattern more as the 'snake charmer' above...
  15. I love Watercool Heatkiller and like Bykski (have both, the latter as OEM). However, there's a fellow in another thread who has a Bykski block for his 3090 and after just a few months, the nickel plating is apparently flaking off in one area. This can happen (it did to EKWB years back), but it is obviously a sign of a quality control issue for that batch at least.
  16. ...whaddya mean there's something wrong with my cable tube management ?
  17. ....a little bit of this, a little bit of that...all part of expected multi deliveries for custom dual loop build-up
  18. ...yeah, you better get a move on re. upgrades ?
  19. ...well, lookie here what @ENTERPRISE 's cat dragged in just now - the first of multiple deliveries for the next12 days or so for a big dual-loop build. That blue stuff on the left is also thermal material (but 1.5mm, slightly thicker) and pre-cut for VRAM... ...Enterprise is probably looking for his cat right now (which is actually on another continent...). Anyway, I fed it ?
  20. ...I had bookmarked your OP and now have several packs of 1mm on the way (AmazonPrime Canada) for a new dual-loop build ?
  21. ... Moody Blues, yeah !
  22. ...as long as it doesn't say 'beginner's luck' or 'don't give up your day job', I wouldn't worry ? automation always had some teething issues:
