  1. New comparison image from NASA. Definitely a lot higher res. How the James Webb Space Telescope beat all expectations - Big Think BIGTHINK.COM It was supposed to have a 5.5-10 year lifetime, and take 6 months to calibrate. It's performing better than anyone anticipated.
  2. First Person_plus Extras at Ghost Recon Wildlands Nexus - Mods and Community WWW.NEXUSMODS.COM Lets you play in first person. Plus some extra features. 2.1 RELEASED!!! I DLed the exe version. Be aware that when you spawn you will see your characters head until you aim down sight once, after that ot goes away.
  3. Came across this, thought it was interesting.
  4. There's a new mod for Ghost Recon Wildlands that adds first person mode. If I had to guess, I think Ubisoft planned for this game to be first person but changed to third person at some point in development, probably because the game is so hard already. Just a few screenshots from playing the mod:
  5. I feel like saying I used edge here is a bit like admitting to having an STD on a first date.
  6. You may be right. I've heard rumors that RDNA 3 will be a huge leap for AMD. Supposedly Nvidia's next cards were just going to be a refresh but due to how good RDNA 3 is, Nvidia has been trying to rush some architecture changes.
  7. I use edge. Now that its chrome based and chrome extensions work with it, theres just no real reason to bother with chrome for me. I haven't had any issues with it. I actually use it on my phone too just so everything syncs up.
  8. Microsoft is adding a free built-in VPN to its Edge browser WWW.MSN.COM Edge Secure Network will roll out as a part of a security upgrade I put the word "free" in quotations because 1 GB is hardly enough to do anything with, so really it just seems like a way to let people demo it before paying for it. I suppose it could have benefits to those in places where a VPN is more critical, though it seems like the Tor browser would be a much better option there. I wonder what it will cost. I suppose if it's really cheap it could be popular.
  9. ^this AMD Preps 96- and 128-Core CPU Chips for Servers Using Zen 4 Architecture WWW.PCMAG.COM The announcement signals that AMD is preparing to pack more CPU cores into future processors.
  10. I didn't realize there was serious competition to the Raspberry Pie. Not as cheap, but pretty impressive specs. Would make a great emulation device.
  11. Took Intel a long time to get ahead of the 3990X. With the exception of CPUz, it looks like its just barely ahead too.
  12. Yea, that's normal. The site is sort of broken up into two sites. I think it started dev on one platform and then switched or something like that, not sure of the exact details but I believe eventually the goal is to have it all be one platform.
  13. Both regions are important. So cal is where a lot of uhh... content... is made and that's like a third of internet traffic. CA is hitting multiple tech fronts.
  14. Nvidia said to be testing an RTX 40 series GPU that needs up to 900 watts WWW.TECHSPOT.COM With the RTX 3090 Ti graphics card, Nvidia squeezed the last bit of performance it could from the Ampere... I've seen a few mentions of Nvidia coming out with some really power hunger cards in its next lineup. This is the first I've heard about anything this high though.
  15. Quick general guide for news posts: General Rules: Any forum members can post news here, not just staff. Any member is free to post any topic you find interesting, as long as it's tech related. All news articles must come from a legitimate source, and the source needs to be posted somewhere in the post. Add your source tag to the post by clicking "choose" right under the title bar. If your tag doesn't show up, click "add tags" instead. Format: Typically, a news posts is a quote from a news article, followed by a link to the source. It can also include relevant images and videos. Title: The title should match the title from the source article, but it is OK to change/shorten the title as needed. Click-bait should always be avoided. Sources: In general, anything can be a valid source as long as the info it's presenting is relevant and legitimate. That's pretty much it. Just a few simple rules and guidelines to follow. A more thorough guide can be found here:
  16. Lol, thanks. It's not often I get compliments on my OCD.
  17. Just another homemade pizza, stuffed garlic butter crust

    5800x overheating?

Yea definitely update the bios. What res are you playing RD2 at?
  19. I don't know enough about the technical aspects of what you're claiming to debate it, but I have a hard time believing Dell is doing this because it can't handle energy requirements in California. California is strict, but it's also Silicone Valley. The regulations made here tend to more or less become standard eventually anyway. It seems like it would be easier to just integrate the ram if it had to be that specific, or even if they just wanted to make repairs harder they could integrate the ram and just blame CA regulations.

    5800x overheating?

You might want to double check your performance. Ryzen can remain stable but with lower performance when lowering the voltage.
  21. If Dell is making motherboards that can't handle normal ram and SSDs being plugged in, then Dell has much bigger problems.
  22. Nvidia’s next GPUs will be designed partially by AI | Digital Trends WWW.DIGITALTRENDS.COM Nvidia has talked about the use of machine learning and AI in upcoming graphics cards. It plans to use AI to increase the efficiency of next-gen GPUs. An interesting step in the development of AI to have AI helping to create better working AI. One step closer to the singularity!
  23. I think the argument that this is better than soldering on the ram is a sound argument. Better to have something be replaceable even if it has to use a proprietary slot to save space. When Apple does this it doesn't save any space, it just makes things harder for consumers.
  24. The concept of this device is interesting, but unless the CPU is removable, it's kinda moot IMO. I'm not sure how many of you guys are aware of this, but if you want a laptop that is designed to be easy to service, the answer has always been Dell. With some exceptions for ultra-thin designs, Dell has always designed laptops with serviceability in mind. Typically Dell laptops can be opened really easily and all the parts will be exposed and easy to remove right away. Perhaps their new CAMM style ram slot is contrary to that, or perhaps it will prevent them from making ram be integrated onto the motherboard for ultra thin laptops. I think what Framework and Dell prove more than anything else is that there is no real reason why Apple needs to design their laptops to be so difficult to service. We have clear examples of laptops from them that look good and are easy to service without costing a small fortune.
