I had another 7 hours of nothing on the Radeon VII today. 🤬

I'm going to see if there is an older ROCm driver that has ppd at least in the neighborhood of this old amdgpu-pro driver.  Even if the ppd is less, I know that every ROCm version after 4.0 was rock stable, so there won't be any downtime.

Ouch, hopefully you can figure out a good driver version.

Looks like I'm back in business running on a slightly older version of ROCm OpenCL. 😀

After my last unit finished on Dec. 31st, I'll be shutting down and moving the rig to a open tech bench for better airflow and I'll also take that chance to move over to Linux as well.

I really hate GPU prices because I would love to just test Linux install process and performance on my gaming rig with another Nvidia, but the only other Nvidia card I have is an 8800 GTS that has a few blown caps that I kept telling myself I would replace.

I have news for you. I no longer own a Mustang, and therefore was able to Linux.

Power has been out for the last 8 hours, so the folding machines have been shutdown.  No ETA on when it will be back up, but probably not until midday tommorrow at the earliest.  I somehow still have internet, at least for now.

Hopefully it comes back on soon and you don't lose any food or freeze, stay safe.  I'm holding BWG off in the Wildcard Category, for now...

Generator takes care of the essential circuits, so no worries on that front.

Power is back on now, and folding has resumed. 🙂

Woohoo, that's great to hear.  Generator hookup is on my list of electrical upgrades to do next summer.

I'm looking to swap out the Radeon VII for either an R9-290 or a Fury-X.  I'll let @BWG know when/if I make the switch.

Now that I pulled my server board off my main bench, the 2080 and whatever AMD GPU I end up going with, will be under water for January. :hats_snorkle:

While we wait on tictoc, this is the last team left with 1 vacancy. There's got to be someone on this forum that can join these fine folders for another title run.?!? 😉🥑

I'll be back up and running later today.

The 2080S and a Fury-X are currently on the bench, and I'm just giving everything a bit of a cleaning with some Blitz Part 2.

@BWG I'll let you know if I'll still be temping in a slot.  I have a few messages out, but so far no replies. ;)

Back up and running. 🙂

I just remebered that I had a spicy BIOS flashed to the second slot on my Fury X, so now I am running that and slowly increasing the clocks a bit.  I also forgot just how good of a clocker this card is relative to other Fiji GPUs. :naughty_devil2:

I lost a bit of time with some failed WUs yesterday trying to see if the Fury X could magically run at higher clocks after sitting on the sidelines for about 4 years.  The answer to that question was a big NO!

The only tuning left would be to bump the memory up a bit, but the ppd gain compared to the down time is probably not worth it.

What driver are you on?

Running Linux kernel 5.15.13 with ROCm 4.0.

*Edit* Memory OC for Fiji was removed from the Windows drivers many years ago, but this is Linux, so a little kernel hacking will fix that right up. :scared_animatedfear:

I'd hate to help you guys but you should check with @BWG and be sure that handicap multi is right on that GTX 750 Ti. It seems like it should be a lot higher, like much closer to the huge ass multi that Michele has with her GTX 750.

the PPDs are like

FOLDING.LAR.SYSTEMS

F@H GeForce GTX 750 Ti performance as of 1/25/2022. Averages across all projects PPD:81,018 - Work Units Per...

and

FOLDING.LAR.SYSTEMS

F@H GeForce GTX 750 performance as of 1/25/2022. Averages across all projects PPD:69,207 - Work Units Per...

So something looks off because your PPDs look right but your handicap multi seems too low? I didn't math it, just estimating.

Unless the rules have changed, going to need about 350 sample units before that 750Ti is eligible right?
