You have to remember, those goofy people over there put the day before the month when writing dates.

That's why I use ISO 8601 format. It's unambiguous and just makes sense. From left to right dates are most significant to least significant, just like how we already write time: YYYY-MM-DD

Most importantly, it works the best for sorting lines of plain text and filenames.
