Fix for fans @ 100% pre-POST?

Recommended Posts

I've got 11 fans in my system and 6 are iPPC 3000s, and the BIOS-set fan profile doesn't kick in until after POST. My PC basically levitates until after the system POSTs, then the BIOS set profile kicks in until the OS loads my Argus curve.

It seems to be a board specific problem, my Taichi follows BIOS-set fan speed/profiles before POST and IIRC my Aorus Pro did too.

Short of swapping fans or boards, is there a fix? If I had an open 3.5/5.25 bay I'm sure I could get some fan controller with a delay function but I can't seem to find anything on one I can stick inside the case.

sos, help please

Aquacomputer Quadro or Octo are fan controllers you could mount anywhere in the case.

I can justify them because all of my builds have custom loops. Flow sensor input and the ability to base fan speed off of liquid temp is nice.

If you are like me, I justify spending money to solve minor annoyances all the time lol.

I actually have the same fans as you, but they run off my case fan controller and not too bad...but they are certainly still audible. Great fans though no doubt.

Quadro is close to half that. Mod my mods is currently out of stock, but lists it at $48 (Cheapest of the e-tailers). You could sign up for a stock alert. You can easily run 3 fans per header.

Need a fan controller that saves the settings in the firmware like the Aquacomputer gear does. If using MB fan headers this will always happen as there is no fan control till it posts, hence the need to go off board. Outside of using a startup boost my fans never go past 600rpm's.

Just remember each channels settings is saved into the firmware so if you ever use that Aquero, Octo or Quadro again it'll have the old settings saved, so don't be surprised while testing fans out one day years from now why say 1 channel isn't working.

This is the thing that keeps drawing me towards the Aquacomputer gear.  Lots of customization and control without resource overhead inside of the operating system.  I confess, I only recently "got it" regarding Aquacomputer's offerings.

dunno about "always", I had this same fan setup on 3 motherboards and this is the only one trying to fly around the room.

^ you only run them at 100%? Gotta overclock those bad boys 😆

I agree that once you go Aquacomputer, you can't go back. You could completely uninstall Aquasuite after you configure the controller if you wanted to. Once the controller is flashed, it will run autonomously indefinitely.

It's awesome for non PC projects or external radiators where you just add power and it does it's thing.

Yes, for some reason my wife refuses to wear earplugs 24/7 🤷‍♂️🤣.  Sheesh, it's not like I asked for A-t-M and to install a 2.5kW chiller under the house...
