Looks like I got one rig here that's picked up a few WUs for EHW, but still pretty "sporadic".

My GPUs finally started running earlier today. I've gone up about 10 WUs in 24 hours (running ryzen 3700x, gtx1080, r9 290)

So as of this morning I can see we have broken into the rank of the 800's. That is some nice going guys. We have also as of this morning submitted 2223 WU's !

Oh my, I forgot I bought one of those PCIe 1x to 16x USB 3 cable adapter things during the mining Craze, that might work to allow me to set up a spare AMD R7 370 really easily, maybe I'll tackle that at some point.

At somepoint I may use ex-crypto currency mining cards for folding as they are super cheap from China. They are just standard GPU,s without display ports and you can get modified drivers to get them working as a standard GPU.

Sounds interesting! You might need a little bit of luck with those cards, but if you buy a late-model card it can't be that bad.

That needs a Thunderbolt Port though, and the 1x to 16x adapter I got actually works great for testing GPU's, horrible gaming performance, but at least gets a solid display output.

Yeah, my one 1x16x USB adaptor was not a good experience for me, it was some years ago... I was not using it for mining tho, but for expanded compute. The ASUS box is TB3, I don't see that as a negative, but it certainly could be. Anywho, I just was not too keen on plugging a $500 GPU into a dime-store extender.

Well at least this adapter has dedicated PCIe power power plugs, while the USB3 cable just essentially extends the PCIe lanes and it shielded.

 

Depending on the Compute load, your mileage would definitely vary. All depends on how much data is being sent continuously over the PCIe bus or data being shared between system RAM and VRAM or CPU and GPU.

On an RTX 2080 I get 1,48-1,52M PPD with ribbon style riser, vs ~1,28-1,43M PPD on a USB style riser in Linux.

My RTX 2080 Ti does seem to be constrained by the 1x bandwidth.

On a 4x/8x/16x slot it gets 2,3M PPD, on a PCIE 3.0 1x slot with this riser, it only gets 1,9-2,1M PPD.

The bandwidth can be hurt by the risers/conversion ribbons. That is why I was looking at a board (Mining board) with full PCI-E 16x slots, in order to negate some of the lost performance. Luckily they do exist : https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Colorful-...97.m4902.l9144

The average PPD is really a campaign to calculate since the WUs vary so widely. I see anywhere from 3-4MPPD per 2080Ti.
