It's the most I've EVER paid for one of my own CPUs. I used to build whole gaming computers for that much!

Luckily that thing is already clocked so high I don't need to tune it other than to figure out how high her cheap Micron E DDR4-3200CL16 4x8GB will run on that IMC. Her current 1600AF runs it at 2933MT/s. If it gets to stock speed I'll be more than happy, and if it gets to say...3600+MT/s then I won't feel so much sting in my wallet ?

The 5800x is still a great CPU, I got one myself and it's not the best value out of the 5XXX line-up, but still a great choice.

I would have a hard time recommending a full new 5800x build to someone since it's not clear if AM4 will get another generation or not.  At this point with GPU shortages, I'd lean a lot more towards to an APU or an Intel build with an iGPU for a new build.

Yeah I only got that because it was actually at MSRP. I was like uh...5600x is about 50-60 over or wait until next month, let me check the next tier...click.

I got my 5600X for the $299.

Honestly I was aiming for a 5900X just because I plan to have the system long term. That said, as a gamer, for now the 5600X is all I need and the 5800X is a bad price in my opinion. Definitely the worst value in the lineup.

I may just wait and see if Zen 3 gets refreshed down the line like 1 and 2 did.

I'd grab that 5600x for myself and use my 3600 in my kiddo's rig....but man, I didn't want to do that.  He doesn't need a 3600 (its overkill for me even right now).  And my board is a REALLY bad board for a 5000 series (ASRock B450M Pro4).  I was intending on going full x570 / Ryzen 5000 series / RTX 3000 or RX6000 series GPU once prices get closer to reality, and put my 3600 on the TV.  But shoot, at this rate I might just go ahead and buy a 5600 for it.

Still keeping my eyes peeled for a 1200, 1600, 2600, or 3300 for him, but not really holding my breath on it.  Gotta wait till Office Depot decides if they're taking my money or not for the CPU I ordered a month and a half ago.

I actually need to find an e-waste place. I have some 5770's I'm sure are not worth the effort to find someone to buy them for $20.

The first computer I remember using as a kid I believe was a 486. My Mom was doing the work from home thing on that back in the early 90's lol. I think she used that until she got a Pentium II machine as I remember it was that slotted in cartridge design. Next PC I remember was an Athlon or Athlon 64 (I honestly don't remember which).

There's an e-waste place nearby...actually went there last week to locate some 120mm / regular thickness fans screws for a rad...I really should go and dig deep in the bowls of a storage area downstairs here in a room full of old stuff, a 486/66 plus mobo along with a Cyrix 100 upgrade I 'inherited/confiscated' as a young lad from older siblings...also a Pentium 200 MMX and more CPUs, and big ol' CRT monitors.

'My first real oc setup' is this one below, yeah Abit IC7x power - still works, even found the memory for it...

Guys, $330 for 10900KF at MC is unbeatable.  Too bad I don't live next to one and already run a 9900K direct-die.

Gotta keep in mind that intel motherboards are more expensive though

I already have a B450 motherboard that I bought with the intentions of running a 1200, 2200g, or 3200g in it, stupidly thinking I'd be able to find an AM4 CPU in 2021.  I'd have to buy a new mobo and CPU instead of just buying a cheap AM4 CPU.  Nahh, I'll wait for the right deal or a trusted second hand seller.  I can wait.  Build in question is for my kid, but its the same board as my sig rig.

I got the R7 5800X delivered today and installed it on my wife's MSI x470 Gaming Pro Carbon.

Wow that thing is fast. I saw it turbo over 4.9GHz in task manager at stock settings. I tested her cooling and it only got to 70C in AIDA. I will tune her RAM tomorrow.

I might have to get one for myself now to replace my 3600, then give Ethan my 3600. I love that we now have five AM4 rigs in the house now so if one person gets an upgrade, usually someone else also gets an upgrade :D

I put Michele's old 1600 AF on my test/fold bench. I'm tuning that now.

I got my shipping label from ebay to return that dud Ryzen 1200 too :)

Now if my mechanic can fix my truck this weekend then all will be well here.

Hello all,

Small update on this, we have the plugin installed now for what will be the marketplace, once testing is finished so far as to ensure no conflicts with other software, I can start testing and then do a rollout :)

...I can't even tell anymore whether you guys are kidding or not - that's how crazy the GPU market has become ?

...I never sold any parts because they were purchased via a company account, and selling inventory out of the back-door is obviously a no-no, even if it has been amortized. But we made some accounting rule changes recently...

...I got way too much stuff and am wondering what to keep and what to put up for sale / how much to ask. For example, I have 6x top end (in their day) MSI, Gigabyte and Asus mobos (Rampage, Maximus, 2x E WS), several with a whole pile of PCIe x 16 slots (via one or two PEX onboard). To get an idea about what to ask for them, is FleaBay the best pricing indicator ?

Being the true scalper/dirtbag I am, I'll offer you a TRUE work horse cpu in exchange for those 2 so-so work gpu's. 1 intel q6600 never overclocked... ? Edit: My conscience is bothering me about taking advantage of you,so I'll throw in a Pentium D 630 to make it more fair.... ?
