I've lost count of the reasonings behind why they've arrived broken now lol.  But yes, my last one was literally shipped naked in a flat rate box. -_-  My Sabertooth I overpaid for came nearly snapped in half.....but that one was actually USPS's fault not the sellers.  One board came with a CPU in the socket (as advertised), but there were bent pins underneath but it was advertised as "tested and working".  Yeah, my ebay luck has been horribad lately.

Maybe try reddit homelabs group instead of fleabay. Post what you want/need,  or look at what's for sale.

Wow people are really that careless when they ship stuff?

Sometimes it happens before the when they ship stuff step... the listing for the attached images were supposed to be a new, other W-3175X cpu.

Went through hoops, eventually got my ~$2,000 back. Settled on a different open box W3265.

^Couldn't say, didn't leave it unboxed very long. Just long enough to photograph it for return/refund purposes.

When I initially queried the seller about his "new other" status upon seeing the delivered item, well:

I try to avoid making tech purchases on ebay as much as possible these days, and even Amazon given the amount of fake stuff being sold there by third party sellers.

first time I ever heard someone have a problem buying stuff on eBay, tbh. I refuse to sell stuff but I buy stuff all the time. eBay sides with buyers to a fault.

yup, and that's one of the reasons they refunded me. That said, I did say tech purchases, usually major items.

In other words, I still look to eBay for more cowbell 😉

Yup.
I sell things on eBay as a side thing. I've been scammed a few times by buyers. I hate people lol

By the way, not to ruin all the good sales for myself or anything, I've been having some halfway decent luck at mercari.  Scored several working (old) GPU's for dirt cheap there.  Just got my 990FX Sabertooth for $90 there too, and an FX 8350 which I can't wait to tinker with.  The pickings are slim there, but every once in a while there's a decent deal.  The sellers seem more initiated to package well and describe their items well too.

I never even thought to look at mercari for stuff like that :)

Grrrr, count this as the FIFTH freaking mobo I have to send back to ebay.   :wheee_orange:

This time, the stupid thing is even almost functional, except there's a BIOS password installed that cannot be removed by clearing CMOS.  Why can't sellers check their junk before selling it on ebay?  ?

I've had pretty good experiences with buying used on eBay.

There's a guy on ebay that can create a new BIOS IC if yours is the removable kind. I've used him in the past.

Hey guys,

Just as an update, the classifieds section is ready to go, however I am awaiting a long ongoing application with Paypal to go through with regards to something called Mass Payouts. In order for users to transact money the Paypal API is required, which is super easy to setup, however you have to call up and apply for Mass Payouts to be enabled on any given account. This has really dragged on despite my calls to chase. I will be calling again today to speak with them. As soon as I have a green light on this, we are good to go :)

Thanks,

E

(me) "Blue"

(paypal) "We're sorry, but the seller says that according to their records the purchase was linked to a teal card..."?

Good news. Everything is now sorted with Paypal. I basically waited a month for it to get sorted due to one thing...the staff there clearly did not know the procedure. The difference with the call today is I was put through to a guy in sales who enabled the mass payments API in literally 30 seconds. A month of our lives, we will never get back lol.

So where now ? I am needing to run a couple of tests to ensure the API works correctly and that there are no undesired results. Furthermore there is an update to the core software for the classifieds section which I am keen to apply before the big opening, but depending on the timeframe on that I may release and then update later on.
